Is Squad planning to change campaign gameplay?
klgraham1013 replied to Corw's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Oh, what could have been. -
What feature do you want for 1.8?
klgraham1013 replied to KingKerb's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Oh, it is. As would the default sorting for parts to be by size or something. ...but here we are. -
POLL: When did you start playing KSP?
klgraham1013 replied to Pickelhaube808's topic in KSP1 Discussion
When 0.18 released. Back when I was full of hopes and dreams. -
I don't know. Base functionality of a part being broken seems pretty big. Then again, I had to wait a year to safely drive solar panels through the Mk3 cargo ramp. So, who knows when Squad will get to it.

You mean like to 2.5m cylinders? ...or how about 1.25m cylinders? We're already restricted in many respects. If this solution was implemented from the get go, maybe no one would care. Maybe they would. I'm just spit balling really. Just putting out ideas.

Exactly. We need better planets. Not more planets.

Why was the mk 1 command pod removed??
klgraham1013 replied to Deadpangod3's topic in KSP1 Discussion
That's actually what I say whenever something goes wrong in my life. -
This makes me wonder if a frame with wheels of various sizes would alleviate the issue? Like a rover base, car base, truck base, etc.

I still don't really agree with #BlameUnity. Programmers are smart people after all. If Squad wanted to, I believe you can purchase the Unity source. There has to be a way to implement you're own code that would be better. It probably just comes down to time and money. Hopefully KSP2 can have it's own wheel code.

I'm about to do something crazy. I'm about to play a stock career game of KSP. I'm not sure what I'm thinking.

An Economy mode?
klgraham1013 replied to Jestersage's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
You lost me at one of the fun things in Career Mode is the contracts. -
New players will obviously gravitate toward something called career. To me, it's just more proof that Squad really needs to rethink career. It just doesn't work to on board new players. I'm actually not sure if science mode does any better. There's less to consider, but it still doesn't really teach you anything. Sure, there's the tutorials, but...let's be honest...most people are here to play a game, not go to school. The school needs to be built into a standard mode in a fun and interesting way. Career and science make basically no attempt at this. Trial and error is only fun for the first few explosions. If we want players to reach the Mun and even leave Kerbin's SOI, we need more than trail and error at the very beginning of the game. This is one of the few times I'll actually say Kerbal needs to be a game over a simulation. When those numbers are unlocked in career, show me where the game teaches the player what those numbers are. It doesn't. Suddenly something that said LOCKED now shows numbers. That's all that happens. That's not good enough.

Created a report for Bug #21884. When in IVA, depending on the pod, you can see the Kerbal's head. Especially when zoomed all the way out. I'd prefer the head be invisible, but, really, consistency should be the goal.

I still don't agree with locking away flight tools in early career. You're essentially making the game it's hardest in the beginning. You're making new players guess, instead of giving them the tools they need, and teaching them to use those tools. The difficulty of KSP should come from getting to the next planet. Not arbitrary unlocks.

Yep. Feeling like you're not shouting into the void is very beneficial.

That might be useful. If it's a bug, maybe it should become a feature?

@Maxsimal I think it was more the complete lack of communication, on the thread asking for votes and even on the tracker itself, after being explicitly told to communicate with you by posting to the tracker and voting. One way communication is frustrating in any situation. Let alone developer / player communication. I know you're afraid of false promises and upsetting people, but silence can be even more destructive. I'm glad the bug I wanted fixed was, but that bug was around for a year, and for a year I received little to no communication. This despite the videos and files I'd post on the bug tracker for each and every update the bug remained. I was trying to communicate. After months and months, it shouldn't really be a surprise I got snarky about the whole thing. It turned out to be a Unity problem, but that's still a Squad problem. The consumer should not, or need not care what engine their favorite game was made on. All the consumer should be required to see is whether the game is fun and whether it works as expected. I don't expect any of my customers to know who made their furnace or how it works. Their furnace is broke. That is all. It also doesn't help that the silence is occasionally accompanied by the request for free labor. A request which occasionally comes off as being...or assuming we should be more than willing to do things for free which some people are actually paid for. It's just as likely a problem with text not being able to transmit intent or emotion. I understand where you're coming from. I'm just trying to elaborate where some of us are coming from. We're all people, and I think both sides forget that sometimes.
