Anyone mad about mods keeping up with latest updates?
linuxgurugamer replied to Conric005's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Do you have any idea how many times modders get asked this question? I may have been a bit strong, but really, it's only been out for a couple of days. And there is already a 1.4.1 patch announced which will be released on Tuesday. -
Looks like it. You can check by looking into the ModuleManager.ConfigCache file, find the tanks you are interested in, and look for a module in that tank which name is either NoFailureModules or ModuleTankReliability. If the first, the no. If you see the second, then yes. If neither, then no

Anyone mad about mods keeping up with latest updates?
linuxgurugamer replied to Conric005's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Old versions are available for most if not all mods. Also, except in a few cases, most mods are stable. There are always code changes which the average player will be unaware of, but which changes things, usually for the better. There can be new features added. So you would rather stay with an old, stable version. That's fine, but to expect everyone else to do so is unreasonable. -
Anyone mad about mods keeping up with latest updates?
linuxgurugamer replied to Conric005's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I have 130+ mods to update. Are you willing to pay my salary for a week while I stop my real job (which pays the bills) and update all the mods? If yes, please contact me via PM and be prepared to write me a check which has at least 5 digits in it. Both to pay my salary and to inspire me to spend all my time updating mods. if not, then shut up and be patient. You could show your appreciation by contributing to my (and other modders) Patreon account.- 55 replies

Does KSP really have spyware in it?
linuxgurugamer replied to DoctorDavinci's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Or, even simpler, maybe to make the EULA in line with all their other EULAs -

I don't know about Norton, but I do know that Kaspersky can be set to block a single executable from going to the net -

I will, surprising some people here, actually agree with this statement. -
Does KSP really have spyware in it?

And you are gullible to think that they will do everything they list in the EULA? Enjoy your tin hat -
Does KSP really have spyware in it?
linuxgurugamer replied to DoctorDavinci's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Really? What personal info is it taking? Can you prove whatever it is you say? All the EULA says is what they "may" take, not what they "will" take Again, it says they "may" not that they "will". While KSP isn't doing this, what about a program that takes pictures and uses it in-game? and possibly send it back for troubleshooting? This is a standard EULA which is designed to cover everything. It doesn't say what they actually are collecting -

The word "spyware" comes to mind, which has been thrown around in this thread -
Does KSP really have spyware in it?
linuxgurugamer replied to DoctorDavinci's topic in KSP1 Discussion
What's a titanic disappointment? The fact that the EULA changed? The fact that they were very up-front about the change, made it a very visible announcement ? or, the fact that they aren't doing what you want them to do? Regarding the "hides in the shadows", they probably aren't allowed to comment. If they made public comments, those comments, right or wrong, could be used in court. So by not commenting, they are merely protecting themselves from malicious lawsuits. -

Does KSP really have spyware in it?
linuxgurugamer replied to DoctorDavinci's topic in KSP1 Discussion
No, I don't. People contribute to me via Patreon, I get nothing (so far) from Twitch. And, I really don't think they are going to stop twitch streamers, it's free advertising for them. Yes, I am a Linux guru. But that doesn't mean I am fanatical about it. For me, Linux is a tool. Windows is a tool. OSX is a tool. I use the tool which does the job best, which, in the case of KSP, means playing it on Windows. Before it was stable on 64 bit on windows, I did used to play on Linux My day job is Linux, but I also touch Windows systems as necessary. You apparently didn't know that TT bought KSP about a year ago? So, all of a sudden, you learn that TT bought KSP, they changed the EULA, and you start panicking, throwing around inflammatory words, etc? I'm doing my best here not to laugh. -

I am of the opinion that many of the posters in here have an axe to grind against the software publisher, and you're using charged words like "spyware" in a public forum to try to incite and stir up other people. As such, it's not really much different than asking a politician in a press conference, "So, have you stopped beating your wife?" -
Does KSP really have spyware in it?

No need, I see the dll, and will assume that it is phoning home somewhere. But how does that make KSP any different than thousands of other games? -
Will 1.4 be coming to console?
linuxgurugamer replied to mikey117's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (Console)
The problem is the interface to the underlying UI. It's embedded throughout the program. If Unity was available on the PS/4 and Xbox one, then it would be possible, otherwise there is an enormous amount of changes to be done -
Does KSP really have spyware in it?
linuxgurugamer replied to DoctorDavinci's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Unless, of course, they have totally removed the phone-home code. And then they are more GDPR-compliant, correct? Why don't you even consider that possibility? -
Will 1.4 be coming to console?
linuxgurugamer replied to mikey117's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (Console)
Given the differences in the three platforms (Unity, PS/4, XBox-1), I would tend to doubt it. Also, the console version has stuff the desktop doesn't have or need. -
Apollo also didn't bring back the service module. Get rid of the science junior and you wouldn't have any trouble

Does KSP really have spyware in it?
linuxgurugamer replied to DoctorDavinci's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Then, if you don't play other games, you have my respect for totally restricting your play time to KSP. If you don't play other games, that would kind of imply that you aren't into the gaming scene, how did you find out about KSP in the first place? Most people just click through. -
Everybody has their own idea of what should be added as "stock" And, of course, I have my own. And while KAC is nice, I don't think it needs to be added as stock. I do think it needs to be updated, it still has some very old code in it which isn't needed anymore.
