"Shoot for the Moon. If you miss, you'll end up co-orbiting the Sun alongside Earth, living out your days alone in the void within sight of the lush, welcoming home you left behind." -Randall Munroe

That's a pretty good one. But I don't want to be stuck on this rock! I want to be able to go ride other rocks through space! Here's another funny one: "I'll try spinning, that's a good trick!" -Anakin Skywalker

Actually, although commonly attributed to Einstein, it's unlikely he's the original source. There are much older variations of the statement.

What would you change if Life was a simulation and open sourced
cubinator replied to swjr-swis's topic in The Lounge
drop table wasps;-- drop table mosquitoes;-- Then I'd tweak some equations to make interstellar travel easy and fast.- 34 replies

How do you roll with your modded careers?
cubinator replied to Kyrt Malthorn's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I roll with [Q] and [E]. In all seriousness, I wish RSS didn't need so many mods, but I can live with it for the satisfaction of flying over my house in a spaceship.- 22 replies

Looks kind of like California. -
Modern vampire: reverse aging through blood transfusion?
cubinator replied to RainDreamer's topic in Science & Spaceflight
A quick Google search for the title of this thread (minus "modern vampire") yielded results from reputable sources indicating it might work, although I don't feel the initiative this late at night to read any. My question is, can it help astronauts with bone and muscle loss too?- 14 replies

1 million part stadium, anyone? No? Wouldn't KSP run on one of NASA's supercomputers now that it has 64-bit?

Actually, the complete phrase is "trying to use tags on mobile is like trying to use a brick in place of antivirus software", but it's too long to show up in full in most (all?) cases.

The 71st anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagaski
cubinator replied to HoloYolo's topic in The Lounge
These technologies can be extremely useful for spacecraft and alleviating the ever-looming threat of climate change, among other things. It's unfortunate that they had to be conceived by conflict and hatred. My heart goes out to all those affected by the attacks, and I look forward to future, more benign uses of nuclear tech. P.S. When I was at Udvar-Hazy earlier this summer I saw the bomber that dropped Little Boy. Quite humbling. -

They're B4DA55, that's why. What does wrench? -
How many users have 10 or less posts? Actually, is there a nice set of specific statistical data like that to see interesting trends in forum use? Like graphs reflecting the effect of the great forum crash on different activities? Of course, it's not to track the patterns of individual users but rather of the entire forum, but still, would something like that be frowned upon?

We absolutely need native VR support!
cubinator replied to jrandom's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
So if Squad doesn't have the time for it, how hard would it be for someone to make it a mod? This is by no means a request, I just want to know from a modder who's familiar with KSP's code and Unity's VR tools how hard the technical hurdles everyone's been so uppity about really are to overcome. In the meantime, you can just run it in desktop mode in SteamVR. Not quite like being in the cockpit, but it sure is a huge screen! -
When I was a kid (I guess I'm still a kid to you people, but when I was a smaller one) I remember putting one of my toy lightsabers at the bottom of the stairs, standing at the top, and trying to lift it up to my hand with the Force like Luke did on Hoth. It didn't work, though. I guess I am better at channeling it into other things... So there's your answer!

It would be really cool to see a mod with iconic ships from Star Wars. Something like what's been done for the Endurance and the Hermes. I'd like them to be full-scale, not Kerbal-sized, so they can fit in better with RSS if needed. I *think* Distant Object Enhancement can handle ships being fully visible and looming even when hundreds of kilometers away, but I'm not sure because I've never dealt with anything that big before. Hopefully someone can give me that experience!

True, but not with Earth in the background. Here's the ISS transiting the Moon: -
6/10 but my guess would be something cancels itself out something something quantum mechanics something so then nothing actually happens. This statement is false.

But how confusing is the sum of all positive integers?

No, it's not a TV show. Wait, is it? I don't even know... What color is red? -
Granted. In fact, this genie is feeling generous so you get TWO bunnies! Whoops, now there's ten. A hundred! Ten hundred! Uh oh... I wish for a remote-control lawnmower.

Share your favorite quotes! Funny quotes, inspiring quotes, all kinds of quotes! The other threads like this I found we're all 3-4 years old, so I figured it'd be better to make a fresh one. Here are a few of mine: "We began as wanderers and we are wanderers still. We have lingered long enough on the shores of the cosmic ocean. We are ready at last to set sail for the stars." -Carl Sagan "No different. Different only in your mind." -Yoda "If this end is pointing to space you will have a very bad time and you will not go to space today." -Randall Munroe Post away!
