Here's something I think you all might like, Atlas L/Atlas II/Atlas CELV (all the same thing) was the competitor proposal to Titan IV for the CELV contract, and had some interesting derivatives, which I decided to make Atlas L/Centaur, Late 80s: Growth Option 1, early 90s: Now this one ain't bad, just hang the existing Atlas L from a pair of RSRBs, pretty fun! One tiny modification though, we actually have to downgrade Atlas and remove it's common dome so we have have a lower attachment point for the booster struts This one's my favourite <3 Such a good sep pic Growth Option 2, late 90s: Now this one's cursed. Resurrect J-2, redesign the core stage to be longer and LH2, stretch Centaur T a LOT, and top that off with a Skylab fairing (I secretly love it tho) The Engineers were certainly 'creative' with this one

Are you planning on making a new shuttle freestanding pad with the new shuttle pad you made? The Freestanding pads are very useful and most people I know use them over the regular ones

Eh they're not really plans remember. They're just studies, like the many many space station studies from 1984 all the way up to 1993 when the station program/ISS started to become real and less on paper. This is the same thing. Regular studies exploring different architechures help flesh out a plan and find the good options. Like the newest plans are starting to integrate commercial stuff, in the form of DST tank fuellings for the chemical systems. At the end of the day, the surface stuff is VERY notional, wheras the DST stuff is quite possibly what we may see, particularly the ChemNEP system as it's favourable and seems to be what they're focusing on

CSM-106 & LM-4 You may know that LM-4 Snoopy was unique for being mostly covered in black blankets and silver foil unlike the other LMs which notouriously has gold foil. This is what I've attempted to recreate here! Edit: I JUST realised Snoopy didn’t have RCS deflectors for some reason. I wanna take some better pics so maybe I’ll fix that tomorrow haha

Yeah imo you hit the nail on the head here Like if you wanna fly your own stuff on Soyuz, great, thats where an SAF like the progress one comes in, it's perfect for that But for flying the spacecraft itself, it's much better suited to a bespoke fairing, for that and that only, which has real functionality and adds to the enjoyment of the mod!

Imo this is one of those situations where a fixed fairing part makes sense, like for the Falcon fairings in Tundra. Maybe it comes in 3 parts, the 2 sides of the fairing, and the LAS on top, then like an irl launch you can stage the LAS, then the fairings after (Terrible drawings to illustrate my point) If you wanted to go even more detailed (And have shared functionality with the N1) you could have it in 5 parts, the LAS, the upper 2 sides and the lower 2 sides. As you know, in a soyuz Abort, the top half of the fairing seperates, and the DM seperates from the service module. It works with the N1, as I believe the LOK has the top parts and LAS, but the bottom fairing parts it doesn't have, as that's where the large N-1 fairing attaches. But this might be a bit complex, so maybe not the 5 part one But either way, I think a fixed part fairing would work perfect here, it would even allow you to attach stuff like the grifins if you guys don't add them as part of it, and it would also allow you to include asymmetries such as the little pokey out bit for the periscope

Maaaaaan I love how those two parts sit together with the bolts and stuff What's your plan for the engines if you don't mind me asking? It would be real nice to have the real life layout with the primary engine and verniers used, along with the 2 backup engines! I wouldn't blame you for not doing it, because 2/3 engines may be a bit too much work, but I won't lie it would be amazing to have

yea that's what I've done and it looks good Is dry mass a problem? From what I remember Proton hasn't flown crazily bad for me, but the first stage does burn a bit shorter than what you would expect, however I'm guessing that's because of it's large 2nd stage, which has enough thrust and acts like a 2nd booster stage to loft the 3rd stage Anyways, detailed my TKS craft a bit more, really happy how it's come out!

Yeah I think that works REALLY well, keeps the ability to use stuff together whilst allowing proper scales to work, Sweet!

I'll give my two cents, I don't think odd scaling is the craziest deal. Tweakscale is quite a widespread and easy to use mod, and I hazard that most modded players use it, so if they really wanted to use a part with odd scaling, they could easily integrate it. Also, I think that size compromises can often lead to snowballing via related parts and cause a lot of stuff to fall out of scale. Ofc I'm not saying completely abandon the set KSP sizes, as they're what makes a lot of compatability between mods and part sets possible, but I defiently think being a bit more fluid/open to new sizes (like CardZ has done with the 1.625m soyuz) is a good thing. Just my opinion tho
