[1.2.1] Taurus HCV - 3.75 m CSM System [v1.5.3 - July 1, 2014]
Tex_NL replied to bsquiklehausen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Didn't know that. In the past it used solid fuel. It's been a while since I used this mod. Can't you limit the thrust to zero?- 786 replies

Question about Orbit Map
Tex_NL replied to Cagliostro87xz's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Pretty sure it IS possible. Just because you do not see the pull-down menu does not mean it isn't there. While you're in control of an active craft (a dead piece of debris or a probe without power won't work) move your cursor to the top centre of the map screen and keep it there for a moment. Then the menu should appear. -
[1.2.1] Taurus HCV - 3.75 m CSM System [v1.5.3 - July 1, 2014]
Tex_NL replied to bsquiklehausen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
In the VAB/SPH remove all the solid fuel before flight. That way nothing happens when you accidentally stage the LES. The downside however is you have permanently disabled it for that flight.- 786 replies

Question about Orbit Map
Tex_NL replied to Cagliostro87xz's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Use the pull-down menu at the top of the screen to toggle certain types on or off. Highlighted types will be visible, greyed-out types are hidden. This works in both the tracking station and map screen. -
And when you raise it enough you have none? I understand where you're coming from with this statement but technically you're incorrect. What you're talking about are landmasses, not continents. Continents are determined by tectonic plates. And tectonic plates won't disappear when you raise or lower the water level.

I am not saying people are doing this. I just want to point out out how easy it is. You can fake it! Launch and record your launch bringing the payload to orbit. Now launch and record a second time but switch to the booster and recover. With some clever editing it will look like it's one and the same flight. That's how Hollywood does it and it would be ignorant to believe YouTubers do not. You only see what people want you to see.

Struts messed on launch
Tex_NL replied to Dfthu's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
No idea what's causing this or how to solve. But since you're already using mods might I suggest KerbalJointReenforcement? With KJR you won't need struts. No struts = no struts that can go haywire. -
Just keep in mind some of his tutorials may be pre-1.X and use the old aerodynamics model. Going straight up to 10km and then turning to 45degrees does NOT work any more. If you do that you will flip out.

Check Scott Manleys tutorials. You can learn a lot from him.

Target Icon dissapeared?
Tex_NL replied to ouyin2000's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Glad you found it. I mentioned the navball just to be sure. Many new players do not realize you can cycle through several modes. -
open panels on duna rover?
Tex_NL replied to quasarrgames's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
AFAIK engineers can not repair broken panels. But with KIS/KAS they can replace them as long as you brought a spare. To test if your panels survive Duna you could use HyperEdit to send it there and see for yourself. After it succeeds/fails just recover back to the VAB/SPH and no time/funds are lost. Some would call that cheating, I'd call it a realistic windtunnel test. -
As ludicrous as it sounds this IS pretty darn close to the truth. The menu scene does not exist in the game apart from the menu. It is a separate scene that can not be found anywhere else in the game.

Target Icon dissapeared?
Tex_NL replied to ouyin2000's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
And if you mean the markers on the navball click the top centre to cycle through orbit, surface and target. -
Hohmann transfer
-
Of course it is. All planets and moons are reachable at any moment. But it will cost you a shed load of dV to actually make it to your destination. Hohmann transfers are not the only option, but the are the cheapest.

When I click 'Go to first unread post' why do I still have to scroll down half a mile to see the first new, unread post? More often than not I need to scroll through half a dozen posts to reach the first post under the blue line. Can we PLEASE change images to URL's in quotes just like we used to have on the old forum?

Where will we build the first Space Elevator?
Tex_NL replied to Spaceception's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Non of the above. Space elevator are a pipe dream. Totally unrealistic and pure sci-fi. Building an elevator on a low gravity body is a waste as it is already easy to get to orbit. Doing it on a heavy gravity body is a waste as building the elevator will consume more raw materials as it can bring to orbit. We don't have the required technology. And by the time we do we'll also have the tech to reach orbit easy and cheap. -

Are you just trolling or are you seriously asking for Chernobyl drone/phone footage? The Chernobyl disaster happened in april '86. There where no camera phones or drones back then. And the soviet government only admitted something had happened a few days after. Footage like what you're asking for simply does not exist. I don't know your age but I guess you're not that old. And you might not be aware there actually was a time, not that long ago, before cellphones and computers. Just as an example here are the specs of the Apollo Guidance Computer. The one that shot Armstrong to the moon and back. Invented by MIT Instrumentation Laboratory Manufacturer Raytheon Introduced August 1966; 49 years ago Discontinued July 1975; 40 years ago Type Avionics Guidance Computer Processor Discrete IC RTL based Frequency 2.048 MHz Memory 16-bit wordlength, 2048 words RAM (magnetic core memory), 36,864 words ROM (core rope memory) Ports DSKY, IMU, Hand Controller, Rendezvous Radar (CM), Landing Radar (LM), Telemetry Receiver, Engine Command, Reaction Control System Power consumption 55W[1]:120 Weight 70 lb (32 kg) Dimensions 24×12.5×6.5 inches (61×32×17 cm) 2MHz, 32 kilograms and the size of a CRT television. Even the most basic smartphone runs rings around it.

Lower, yes. But not zero. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_hydroelectric_power_station_failures I am not saying the world should go pure nuclear. I prefer a balance combination as pure renewable can not cover the 24/7 demand.

Too bad tourism is a huge sector where I live. I guess at least two thirds of the people here earn their living directly or indirectly from tourism. I myself work for a large restaurant supplier. If the tourists stay away restaurants go bust and I too am out of a job. Three 'major' accidents worldwide in the entire history of nuclear power. That is actually an incredibly low number if you compare it with those that have died (in)directly from coal/gas pollution. And WILL die from the results of global warming.

Fixed it? More like failed it. Sorry, but your imgur link does not work properly.

As far as I know parts of a tourist contract that has been complete stays completed even when you return them to KSC. But to be sure why not make a named quicksave [Alt]+[F5]? If things are lost you can revert back to where you were with [Alt]+[F9].

That's a misprint. That's just pyrite. a.k.a. fools gold.
