KSP2 Release Notes

This I never understood. They worked out a lot of the major issues in the .9x betas, yet decided to, IIRC, change the aero model completely for the 1.0 release. Didn't make sense to me at the time. But in hindsight, the full 1.0 release really could have been applied to anything .24 onwards. KSP has gotten development done for so long that, aside from a couple major changes, there really hasn't been a singular point where SQUAD has said "This is our product, have at it!". This is a good thing though. Even when they do, see the above example about KSP's developement. It went, what, 6-7 years and then they made a couple significant changes to the UI. I guarantee you, whatever they come out with, they'll listen to feedback and make changes if needed.

[1.8.1-1] [PLEASE FORK ME] Kopernicus & KittopiaTech
Gargamel replied to Thomas P.'s topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Ahem.... -
I had the PS Now service for a little bit, before I had a full console system. I found the ability to preview games without paying for the purchase of them was a huge bonus, there were a few games I had on my wishlist once I dropped the PSN service, having played them online. Some games, the inherent lag makes playing them over the net difficult, but the gameplay was good enough to know it would be worth purchasing. Now that you can't play it online, you might want to consider picking it up for your PC. Wait for it to go on sale if budget is an issue, we keep a thread at the top of the KSP Discussion forum that lists current sales we find. I'm also assuming that you can't mod the GFN version, and to be honest, having mods is 80% of the joy of KSP. The game is awesome stock, but the variety of mods we have allow you to customize the game to play exactly how you want. You'd even be surprised at how tolerant of older machines KSP is. Until very recently, I played for years and years on a potato of a machine, and even with a heavy mod load, it ran great. Might have taken 20 minutes to load, and the frame rate was atrocious, but I had fun. And no, I don't work for SQUAD, or anybody else associated with KSP, I just really love the game and the community.

If you post the logs as described in the link @jimmymcgoochie provided, we can get to digging through them and offer some help. The RAM could be an issue, 4gb is very tight for a modded game. Also be careful that you are not trying to load a ship that contains a mod part from a mod you just removed.

Yes? Maybe? The word has been passed up the ladder, that's all we know.

How do i run a script with kOS?
Gargamel replied to toast And Burritos's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Welcome to the Forums T&B. Someone with the answer will be along shortly, but in the mean time, please do not post the question in multiple threads, this is crossposting and only leads to fractured answers and confusion. -
From other reports I've seen, and without any confirmation yet from SQUAD/PD/TTi, KSP seems to have been removed from the GFN service last weekend (June 1st). We're awaiting official word from above on this issue in order to answer your questions.

Even if you can't do them on demand, opening a bug report will help out the devs. https://bugs.kerbalspaceprogram.com/ -

Basic Mun Flyby rocket design?
Gargamel replied to ADKGuy's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Welcome to the forums, you'll find a lot of good info here, sometimes a lot easier to read how to do something rather than waiting through an hour long video. Check out our tutorials subforum for a lot of these. I see the publish date on the video was 2017. The parts have gone through some cosmetic work since then, so your rocket will probably not look like the video at all. But also, one of the joys of KSP is doing things your own way. Somebody here will be able to tell you exactly which parts he used, but why not try your own? Build your rocket, have it fail, figure out where the failure point is, and try again. To me, learning by trial and error is far more rewarding than following a set script. -

Somewhere around ship #2 you will notice some lag. You don't need high frame rates to have fun with KSP. I used auto pilots a lot to do most of the flying once I had learned to do them manually, that way I avoided most of the lag headaches.
-
I ran KSP for years until recently on a slightly lesser machine. Your definition of "well" will vary. But the 30fps with any reasonably sized ship is a pipe dream.
-
While these two games are in my top 4 of all time, I don't think they will include a reference to a competitors product. Plus, if your vessel would happen to get within physics range of the dupes, KSP would take one look at the ONI physics engine, twitch it's eye, have an aneurysm, and fall over dead.

Instant Crash
Gargamel replied to Thopolopolov's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Try running the game directly from the .exe file, instead of using steam or a launcher. Your logs are locked to me, I cannot access them. -

How do I Tell if I am in the Mun’s SOI
Gargamel replied to Little Kerbonaut!'s topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
The wiki will have the exact numbers of the size of the SOI, but it honestly doesn't really matter. When you are planning your intercept burn, as you fiddly with it, you will see your orbital path change color at the point of entry into the new SOI. For bodies in a bad position or too far away to easily see from the ship in the map view, cycle the Tab key until you focus on the body you want. You should still be able to manipulate the node from there. That way you can fine tune your approach. -
