  1. Hmmmm..... definitely a bug, not a feature, as per the intended usage of tourists, but..... I wonder if this a bug they'll choose to 'fix', since it does add some gameplay to the game. It will have to be pretty intentional then for your tourists to get into much trouble...
  2. Gargamel

    1.5.1 Hotfix

I wonder what the over/under is on what the final 1.5.x version will be? 1.5.3?
  3. Thanks guys! I should really get my fingers into the wiki a bit.....
  4. The launcher hasn't been right for many years, just launch the KSP64.exe directly. Might not solve the problem though... Probably not the launcher. Post your KSP log so we can take a look.
  5. And I'm assuming the pinky squiggly are the canyons?
  6. Aside from the range of sizes, what's different from the probe cores we already have? Tweakscale can handle changing the pc size for now. But if all your asking for is a range of stock probe core sizes, then yeah, we kinda need that.
  7. I'm for stock having LS. But it really shouldn't be any more complicated than a single resource consumed over time, per Kerbal, with a waste product that can be dumped or recycled. Basically, Snacks!. And make it optional. Anything more complicated will kind of detract from the simplistic nature of systems in the stock game already. And as long as they keep it simple enough that the more complicated LS mods would easily mesh right in with it, that would be even better. Keep it simple so there aren't a lot of new parts to deal with to complicate things. A resource to consume which produces a waste. A recycler to convert the waste back into the resource. A generator to create new resources. Couple different size/variants of these, and a nice simple working system would be in place.
  8. With max Q, yes it gets a bit tricky. But for max acceleration, Set your thrust limiters on the SRBs down so that your TWR on the pad is at it's optimum amount, whatever that may be per your liking. And then as you launch, the main engines will be slowly throttled back to maintain that acceleration setting. Eventually, the main engines may shut off completely, but this only "adds" dV to that stage, as MJ sees it. Hopefully by this point you'll be high enough that a little extra acceleration won't hurt, and it shouldn't last for too long. You should pick SRB's that burn out around this point. I use this method on most of my launches. Allows for the main engines to act as both the lifter, and orbital insertion engines. With a little tweaking and practice, I will only have a few dV left after obtaining orbit; or more optimally, the main stage will drop off when my Pe is like 20km, so that they will de orbit and be recovered by the Stage Recovery mod, and there's only a bit of burn left to complete by the payload stage. The default is 20k, but I've had more success with 18k. I don't use it that much on Kerbin, I get more use out of it on Eve. it was either @Rocket In My Pocket or @ZooNamedGames or even @Geonovast who suggested the 18k previously, maybe they can expound on that....
  9. Yeah, I tried Kerbnet, but only after my lander was too close to the surface to get a wide view. :S. But I found it using the MJ landing target tool. But a usable map would be nice. The wiki entry for the Mun has a usable legend, just surprised not all do.
  10. I don't know about the contract side of it, but I'm pretty sure I've seen Billboards in some of the fan fics around here,( @JustJim ?). I'd guess it would just be a simple texture that you choose to add to it, so that would be pretty simple. Add it to a command pod, place it and a Kerbal (renamed to your name of course), and there ya go. Make it a rescue Contract. Or, if you can't get a modded billboard to work, make one out of structural Panels, and use lights to spell out the words. That way she can get real close without seeing the message, and then when the lights turn on.... Better yet, if you have the Making History DLC, use the mission builder to set the whole thing up and have her play the mission. I haven't played with the MB enough, but I'd suspect getting the lights to light up after she get's so close... That way you can keep the whole thing stock and (hopefully) not worry about it bugging out on you at the absolute worst time. And if you don't have the DLC, I think it would be worth it to fork over the cash, seeing how much you're probably paying for the ring anyways, this is just part of the cost....
  11. Having issues finding the western Lowlands. The map on the wiki is nice, but without a usable legend, pretty much useless. Anybody have a map with a working legend?
  12. Everyone you meet will know something you do not. Everybody here seems to have a specialty, and has things to contribute. So don't knock yourself.
  13. This. A weak argument could be made that there is less material, ergo less weight, more fuel efficient and cheaper to build, but the main reason is styling. There are still plenty of cars made that have 'flat sides'.
  14. So while one player is tooling around in an airplane, you're trying to get to minmus, in real time. Even waiting to complete a single LKO orbit in realtime, as another player is trying to dock somewhere or something, might take up the majority of a player's IRL time for the night..... But this has been beaten to death in the multitude of already existing MP threads we have...
  15. You can limit the acceleration, under the "limit acceleration" button, I leave mine at 20 m/s, but that's an old habit from a way old version, just never changed. You can also limit Max Q.
  16. Even if you are going twice the speed limit, given your first criteria (similar traffic), you'll still pass more cars in the opposite direction. I think the only 'scenario' where the difference between oncoming and .... not sure what the word is for traffic in the same direction..... would be about zero, would be where your speed would be fast enough to make the difference in the two traffics' velocities a tiny tiny negligible fraction of your speed. So basically, you have access to your own lane, at light speed or faster, and a road of infinite length. And really good brakes.
  17. Console versions are handled by an outside company. It is probably very cost prohibitive for Squad to have the contractor work on updating the console version every time an update drops. Especially with every 1.x updates, there are usually a bunch of tweaks and bug fixes. I'd guess once Squad is happy with the current version (which ever one that may be, not necessarily 1.5), then a console update will "soon" follow.
  18. I'm clearly talking about the KSP store, as that's what I said, and is also referred to in the post you originally quoted.
  19. Glad I could trigger somebody. This bit of bad science should be included in the OP, as it may be the king of all bad science in sci fi.
  20. For all my negativity on this, which is basically towards this being in stock, I am glad to see it getting some traction in a mod. The more ways we can play the game, the better off we all are.
  21. There a many things that can hide a ship or group. Long lasting weather for one. It is possible, and likely, that a group may take advantage of covering weather that obscures it from satellite detection for some time. Plus, there are more... aggressive ways to remove satellite observation from the equation. And there's the Prairie Masker system, a sonar 'cloaking' device that is already in service today. It doesn't really jam anything, it just makes the sonar signature look like something the sub would normally ignore. My point is, if you have a jamming system, it has to prevent the operators from being able to use their sonar systems at all. That's the point of jamming. Otherwise it's just a decoy or 'cloaking' device. Making a system that might work in a controlled setting is all fine and good, but it does not represent a real solution if it cannot be used in a real world setting.
  22. What else is out there? They have the major consoles (Xbox and PS), and I believe they have stated Wii/Switch/Etc isn't going to happen. Mobile devices are pretty much a no go since the processing power there is still lacking, and the control interface would be horrendous. Pretty sure this all has been discussed ad naseum in other threads....
  23. Did you log into your KSP Store account? IIRC if you have purchased the game through the store, you can then click the "Download Button", I believe it's under Profile? The screen that lists all your purchases there. Then scroll down the the list of available downloads till you find what you are looking for. If it's not listed, as the list is somewhat limited, then it's not available through the store.
  24. But still not as awesome as the Gimly Glider, from the error that caused it, to the amazing piloting skills, to them landing on what turned out not to be an abandoned air force runway, but an active racetrack, during a festival.
