  1. Using this new part to my advantage, here's the top of my current science lander, set up so I can toss the science stuff to save mass while returning to Kerbin. When you stage it, everything green decouples. I had to shift it upwards a bit with the transform tool or it clipped. I just imagine the detachment mechanism is somewhere inside the Variometer.
  2. That never occurred to me to try. I just did now and it works. Note: I run the game in windowed fullscreen mode. I do that because the game vanishes in actual fullscreen when I alt-tab away which is annoying on a multi-screen system. I like browsing the forums while waiting for something, sometimes. However, I just put it into fullscreen mode and changed the resolution and the game acted exactly like you described the game working in the past. So maybe something's up with your system. I have no idea what, of course, but it seems to work fine.
  3. Yes even in the stock game. Hold alt and warp, you can go 2x, 3x, or 4x. but larger ships can wobble, flex, or even outright explode upon using it.
  4. I just sort by mass. I actually know what part is where now, just by glancing, so long as they're sorted by mass.
  5. You could try Sigma Dimensions. Sigma doesn't have an active presence on the forums but seems to still be updating things on Github. https://github.com/Sigma88/Sigma-Dimensions Note if you go with 10x everything (except mass) and don't modify fuel tanks and engines (and most other parts) you'll never get to space. KSP parts are balanced for the KSP system and don't work very well with larger ones.
  6. Click the image to make it big, then right click it and "copy image link" or whatever your browser says to do the same. Then just paste that link here.
  7. I wrote my first KOS script since KSP was in alpha. It does the same thing that the only script I wrote back then did: launch to orbit. Back then it was 10km, crank to 45, burn to space, crank to 0, burn to orbit. This one has a bit more finesse, though it's by no means robust. Or pretty. I think it'll work fine though.
  8. We have a KAS, a KIS, and a KOS. Why don't we have KES and KUS?
  9. Or it took them 5+ years to change their mind, and things will happen quicker now.
  10. I just wish the person that adopted KER would start a new thread already.
  11. Isn't that just like it. Either you splash down or land in the same biome over and over and over. Well done. Still loving that ship design
  12. She doesn't care about you. She's just trying to ire the 8 drivers behind her that want her to obey the %#@^ing traffic laws.
  13. This brings up an interesting thought, in 3 parts: What would happen if they were added to the "stage" action group? What if they were there by default? Can this be done with a Module Manager config?
  14. Actually I tend to put a radial one on top of the pod, inside a decoupler, with whatever I'm using in space on the decoupler. Then as I'm coming down, toss the detritus and pop the chute. Not that an inline one wouldn't be cleaner, but it's not that much trouble and I feel like I solved a puzzle.
  15. In my experience, anybody who thinks they're the smartest person around... ...well... isn't.
  16. I have no idea. Probably though it would take more tweaking than I'll do
  17. And with this, I claim victory over my own challenge and move on to other, un-challengey things for a while. I'll of course keep monitoring the thread and updating the leaderboard, especially now that I'm a Thread Of The Month
  18. Wat? How about a newer old member of the forums, @PunkyFickle
  19. I have tweaked it a bit here and there, but it seems the sweet spot for me is to crank all base settings to the minimum that's not "none", then all evolution and expansion settings to half of what they are. Then they still expand, but do so very slowly giving me time to actually play the game part of the game I swear I have played 2 totally different games: Factorio, and Factorio without hand crafting. I much prefer the latter. For my run, I actually changed the way I hand-craft in the controls menu. I rebound the keys to something I knew I'd never hit by accident. Nukes are fun to play with, but Solar is king. I like to leave my old steam in place with a switch set to sound an alarm and release a flood of coal into the steam furnaces whenever power gets below 10% in an accumulator. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssss
  20. I've been waiting for 0.17 to drop but this makes me want to jump back in. Railworld's the best. And screw biters. Though I leave them in, I turn them way down, nerf their evolution, and make them not expand or expand very rarely. I want to have to make weapons, but I don't want to have to use them, at least not very much. Now do a Lazy stand-up guy run. EDIT HA HA HA I don't think I've ever been hit with the swear filter here.
  21. Your saying "Mostly Harmless" for some reason made me realize for the first time, Elite: Dangerous is an odd name. "The Best: Kinda high in the rankings."
  22. ctrl-shift-f5 or ctrl-shift-r on most browsers will force a reload of everything. I expect your cache is wonky.
