Hm, nope still. Must be my ISP or some DNS server somewhere or something. Oddly, the store link loads "Kerbal Space Program" into the title bar and then sits there until it times out. The main page just fails. Oh well I'm about to hit the hay. I'll try again when I get up. Thanks for trying for me!

I finally got around to downloading 1.0.5 (hey it's been a busy week in Boston. In 2287 ) and I can't load http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/, it's just timing out. I don't know the direct link to the store so I can't just go there.

Complaining about someone not giving you free stuff quickly enough and in great enough quantity is generally frowned upon in these here parts.

I don't like the idea that the contract requires you to bring the part to KSC, considering when you recover your flight it presumably goes to KSC at that time. I do like the idea of charging you to bring the ship back. Maybe you get full recovery of the ship (because parts don't degrade in this game) but have to pay a flat rate that is some function of distance, vessel mass, and your reputation. As either of the first two go up, the cost to recover goes up. As the latter goes up, the cost goes down.

[1.1.2][1-1-2] May 13-2016 EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements
Superfluous J replied to rbray89's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
This should not have been posted. It should have been screamed from rooftops around the world! I can tell you, I didn't really feel the desire to update to 1.0.5, in spite of some really tasty things in the changelog. Now, I think I'll be updating a fair bit quicker. That is awesome in its creepiness. -
Once again I must bow out from summarizing Squadcast this week. I'm taking a long weekend and going to VEGA$$$$$ to help a friend celebrate a certain divisible-by-10 birthday. I considered bringing my laptop along and doing the summary in the hotel, but then the 0.0000001 seconds where that seemed reasonable passed and I decided not to. Sad I'll be missing Dr_Turkey's first foray into public Kerbaling. I'll be back for his second try though!

Read my update I couldn't see the post above my post when I posted, as I replied to the OP without first reading the thread.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? Who will I make fun of on Fridays now? I assume (and hope!) Max knows my ribbing of his play was all in good fun, and I wouldn't have watched Squadcast to do the summaries if I didn't find them enjoyable. I hope he's leaving for greener pastures, and wish him all the best. Now to read the past 5 pages to see who's doing Squadcast now. UPDATE Okay so it's this mysterious Dr_Turkey. Of course, he'll be hosting this week's Squadcast, when I'm on a long weekend and can't watch it. I should probably announce that actually...

How quickly do you unlock the tech tree?
Superfluous J replied to CaptainKipard's topic in KSP1 Discussion
When I want a tech-tree-based challenge, I unlock each level fully before the next. Particularly harsh is to start at the top and work down on each level. When I actually want stuff, usually I drill to: Jr. Docking port Solar Panels Octo Fuel Lines Struts Not in that order, or any particular order really. And the stuff below that is not unimportant, I just get it while powering through to that stuff. I usually get all those before leaving Kerbin's SOI, which is usually my 3rd or 4th mission. To answer your specific question, I don't. I rush the Jr docking port but IMO that is fine for most any purpose. If it weakens the stack, a few struts do fine to hold it together on launch. -
Fallout 4 Bethesda....Bethesda Never Changes
Superfluous J replied to MajorGosnell's topic in The Lounge
I'm playing on Ultra graphics on a(n expensive gaming) laptop and the game ran about 4 solid hours before I exited cleanly, with no sign of crashing. I even alt-tabbed out a few times to use other things on the computer. I was also recording the gameplay at the time. Unrelated to that, I am amused that the biggest complaint seems to be that it's "Just like Fallout 3." That's what I (and I think a lot of others) WANTED. -
Fallout 4 Bethesda....Bethesda Never Changes
Superfluous J replied to MajorGosnell's topic in The Lounge
"I hate the series but bought the game anyway and didn't like it." I've put about 4 hours into the game and loved every minute. I fully expect to love the next 4, and the 4 after that, and onward until I complete the game. For the 3rd time or so. Just like I did Fallout 3. Liking 3 was actually why I bought Fallout 4. Because I knew I'd like it. Similarly, I didn't like Madden when I tried it. So I didn't buy any more from the franchise. Same with Call of Duty, Borderlands, and the Elder Scrolls games (Yes, the Elder scrolls games). I realized that whatever they did for people, they didn't do it for me so why waste my money and time doing something that I know I won't like? -
For me, it's version 4. ...of a different game

1.05, not a happy bunny
Superfluous J replied to crestofawave's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Yeah KSP can't control how Steam updates your game or how you have your folders set up. One of those things caused this. Backups are good. -
0) You have to do this before Steam updates. 1) Find your KSP directory. I have no idea where Steam puts it, but if you mod you should know where it is. 2) Right click and copy it in Explorer 3) Navigate somewhere else. I suggest either d:\ if you have it or c:\ksp (create the directory). 4) Right click in that directory and paste. This will copy the ENTIRE KSP install to the new place. It may take quite some time. 5) Never ever run KSP from Steam ever again. Run the version in that folder. You'll lose Steam tracking of hours and stuff like that but you'll have to decide what's more important, playing older versions or the benefits of Steam.

Suggestion..: Stock delta V calculator.
Superfluous J replied to Peder's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I didn't say it SHOULDN'T be there or WON'T, just that I don't think it's needed. Not like dV in the VAB is needed. As in, I will not ever consider the game complete without it. Yes. But I'll also be about 1000x happier while doing "stock only" challenges. -

Suggestion..: Stock delta V calculator.
Superfluous J replied to Peder's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I don't think the game NEEDS a stock dV calculator in flight but it should have one in the VAB, and there should be a visual way to do interplanetary transfers as well, such as the long-standing suggestion by many to allow "planning nodes" which are just like maneuver nodes, but done in the tracking station on planet orbital paths. The stock game doesn't need to tell me what biome I'm going to land in 3 SOIs away*, or any of the other 500 (very useful) things KER does. I do think it should have some sort of indication - at least in the VAB - how far your rocket can be expected to go on a stage-by-stage basis. dV is obvious for this, along with a "where do you want to go?" that then tells you how much dV a good player should spend on each phase of that (essentially an in-game implementation of WAC's dV maps) should be stock. There is no way anybody will ever convince me otherwise, and "Squad sux" isn't an argument I'll even consider. *I'm not actually positive KER would do this. If I had to guess, I'd guess in fact that it doesn't. I'm leaving it in however because the hyperbole of it amuses me. -
Structural fuselages are now hollow!
Superfluous J replied to Robotengineer's topic in KSP1 Discussion
What do the service bays not do that a cargo bay would do? Other than "only open on 1 side" I can't think of anything. -
[1.3] [Kopernicus] New Horizons v2.0.1 [2JUN17] - It's Back!
Superfluous J replied to KillAshley's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Completely incidentally, this was the post that alerted me to 1.0.5 being out -
I've no immediate plans to install or run - or even download - 1.0.5
