If you drive up Mt. Everest in a car, it would take more gas than coasting back down. Likewise, the dV cost to Mun from Kerbin has nothing to do with the dV cost of the return trip. Mun orbits Kerbin at 1000 m/s. You orbit Mun at 600 m/s. The burn home is 300 m/s. The rest is Oberth and the fact that you don't need to completely stop dead to fall back to Kerbin. And rounding errors because I didn't check my numbers because I'm on my phone right now.

Hey that's me To answer the question: Do what you enjoy. Trying to please others over yourself is a great way to lose interest in doing any hobby, YouTube series(es?) included.
-
You've said this several times. There are only 2 reasons to not have the Mun contract at this stage: You already went to Mun so the contract will NEVER show up. You're sitting on an "Explore" contract and so no new ones will show up until you've completed it. Also, don't wait for contracts. Just don't. The money and science from putting satellites up and testing parts and doing biome studies BLOWS EXPLORE CONTRACTS AWAY. You're essentially losing out on hundreds of thousands of funds because you're sitting around waiting for a ten thousand fund contract. Also, don't just do crew reports. Do EVA reports, temperature readings, seismic readings, pressure scans, Mystery Goo, Science Jr. Do them everywhere, and make sure you bring the science home. You really don't get much for doing the readings over and over in the same places, though, which is yet another reason to just buck up and go to Mun already.
-
If you haven't gone to the Mun, you haven't done that "every time." You can measure the temperature in no less than 20 places in Mun's SOI. And that's just temperature scans. Also, they're worth more than equivalent scans at Kerbin. So GO THERE already

I don't understand the need to "fast" from anything. If I don't want to read something I just don't read it. This includes all social media, this site... anything. I spent most of the past 2 years not even looking at my email inbox unless I needed to see a specific email that I knew about in advance. Now I'm checking it daily again. Who knows which of the hundreds of emails in there were important at the time.

[1.8.x] DMagic's Modlets - Most KSP 1.8 Updates [10-29-2019]
Superfluous J replied to DMagic's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I wrote this up for a question on my YouTube channel and figured I'd post it here. It describes how to first set up Celestial Body Science Editor with Stock values, then how to set Kerbin Landed and Splashed to (very close to) zero science. First, you need to install Celestial Body Science Editor. Then, start a new save and click CBSE's icon before doing anything else in the game. For every body, click "stock values" because the mod actually gives you more science by default. Once done with that, "Apply Values" and "Save to config." Exit that save. The good news is, you only have to do all that once. Now your config file is set to Stock, and your new save is also set to stock. Any new saves will also use stock values. Now to get the Landed/Splashed values low, every time you start a new save you need to start it, then exit out immediately. Then edit the persistent.sfs file for that save and look for "scienceModifierScenario". Go down to BodyName = Kerbin and the line below that, change the next line to: ParamValues = 0.001,0.001,0.700,0.900,1.000,1.500,1.000,18000.0,250000.0 Those two 0.001's are surface and splashed. You can NOT change them in the gui, and you can NOT change them in the config. It won't work. Only setting them in the save file will do it. And as a bonus, if you EVER load that gui again it may reset them. Also, you can NOT set them to 0. It causes problems. I don't know what problems, just "problems." -
1.11 Repair missions seem glitched
Superfluous J replied to TimKerbin's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Stab in the dark: use [ or ] to directly control the satellite. If all else fails use alt-f12 to complete the contract. It's not cheating if it fixes a bug. But if it is a bug, report it on the bug tracker of it's not already there. -
I can't choose a single one. There are several I simply will not play without (except for limited times like doing challenges) and among them there is too much variation to be able to decide. But, gun to my head I'd say WarpEverywhere because it's mine

Not a lifelong Browns fan but I have been since a few years after moving here (Essentially since they came back). Great to watch them utterly dominate the Steelers.

7 meters is super short imo Either way, it's not working as I think it's intended to, as it's a limit of 7 meters and I told the game I wanted the limit to be 70 meters. And no I wasn't working 70 meters away from the root part, either

I have found Discord to be toxic in general. The very few Discord servers I've stayed on are the exception, not the rule. I have no experience with KSP Discord servers because, frankly, this forum is so amazingly awesome I see no reason to look elsewhere. Stick around and you may find you agree with me.

I didn't have it read only and it didn't change in the file. However, read only or not, the limit is the default super short amount (7 meters?)

Without more information I'll just assume you're a huge Barbara Streisand fan and The Prince Of Tides is out on Netflix or something.

What kind of launch vehicles do you like to use?
Superfluous J replied to skrpt kddz's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I actually do the same. It feels good to have the tanks run out just when the SRB's do. -
Not from the dev team but as a computer professional I can explain this. "Ready to test" means the developer is done and now either their QA department can test it, or it'll be in 1.11.1 when that releases.

By all means don't elaborate.
