New update is too restrictive with construction.
Superfluous J replied to GrapeInvaders's topic in KSP1 Discussion
My big problem is so many parts I just can't grab. You all talk about external command seats but when I'm in construction mode I simply can't take one off a ship. I don't know if it's too heavy, if command parts are just not able to be moved, if it's a bug, or what. It's just. not. green. and. clicking. it. does. nothing. IMO if you're in orbit you should be able to do 90% or more of what's capable in the VAB. -
huge bug with fuel tanks and engie
Superfluous J replied to pijamaman5's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
We get that your engines don't work. You have not yet said if you have tried throttling up. On an English keyboard, Z throttles fully and Left Shift throttles slowly. Also, have you tried hitting the space bar to stage? From the one image I can see (the first one) it looks like you haven't staged anything. Also, use Google Translate to make your posts English. I'm using it to make mine French.
No jetpacks on Stranded Kerbals
Superfluous J replied to heswah's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Don't start over! If you have a jet pack in the rescue ship, the rescuee can grab the pack out of the ship's inventory it from pretty far away (7 meters?) It's really easy to do especially if you're able to get stationary next to the Kerbal. Source: I EVA'd without a jet pack and found out after I'd let go of the ladder Also, it's possibly not a current version bug, but an upgrade bug. If you took the contract in 1.10 maybe they don't have jet packs in 1.11. Just a guess, but it happens to your own Kerbals so maybe it happens to rescues too. -
That is not the developers of the game's page. That's a page for Lua Multiplayer. If you have a problem with their mod (on an Xbox? Can it load mods?) and they're not willing to devote their spare time to you then you're out of luck. That's the way mods work. If you're not having a problem with their mod, go to the official KSP bug site as @RealKerbal3x suggests and report the bug there. Or do as @FleshJeb suggests and just don't do anything and maybe it'll never get fixed.

The Ultimate Jool 5 Challenge Continued
Superfluous J replied to JacobJHC's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Were I running the challenge (I'm not) I'd like proof that that's possible with the Laythe and Tylo landings. You can obviously get out and back on the worlds with low G, but on Tylo the lander is pretty tall and on Laythe it's in a fairing that seems necessary for takeoff (at least, you had it on during takeoff). You could always plant the flag and then take it down But really considering the requirements are "get out and walk around" demonstrating that should be sufficient IMO. -
Bug 384 doesn't seem to exist. https://bugs.kerbalspaceprogram.com/issues/384 Do you have a (working) link?

Huh, I looked through the Xbox, closed, and then all recent bugs and didn't see it. What's the bug number? Note I don't work for them I'm just curious what circumstances would cause them to close a bug in that manner. I've had pretty good experiences with the bug tracker, though I also have several bugs that have been open for years.

So you'd rather have the bug remain unfixed, than do the work for free? Not complaining, just asking an honest question. I personally would rather get the bug fixed than quibble over the - very little - work involved.

The Ultimate Jool 5 Challenge Continued
Superfluous J replied to JacobJHC's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
This is true. The closest is: The best way to verify that your Kerbals could get out and back in is to require a flag planting, and all Kerbals returned. I suggest the rule be changed. Were your Kerbals able to get out of the ship? I've not watched your video yet. -
While in the stock game you can't get dozens (or even 5) contracts for - say - a base on Gilly. you *CAN* however get one each for: Station Orbiting Kerbin* Station Orbiting Sun* Station Orbiting Eve* Station Orbiting Gilly* Base on Gilly ...And build one craft that satisfies all requirements. The act of sending that craft to Gilly will just complete the other contracts. Similarly, you can take a bevy of "Satellite around [place]" contracts, and build one satellite that satisfies all contracts. You can also take "take a temperature reading X meters above/below a location" and as a bonus, whatever craft you put up there to do it can continue to knock out future contracts of the same type, no "new vessel" required. You can NOT do similar with tourist contracts, as each one generates new tourists. Trying to combine tourist contracts ends up being MORE expensive because you end up taking tourists who only wanted to go to LKO, all the way to your Mun landing. *IIRC you can only get 3 "station" contracts at a time so really you only get 3 of these, not all 4. But still it's a ridiculous return on investment. So much so that in my own games I've stopped doing it because just doing one such contract pretty much turns your game into a Science mode save.

A bit, but I've managed to keep that sort of thing to space stations. The HitchHiker just SCREAMS to be packed with junk. "But what if I NEED a third ladder!?

Refocus Active Vessel 1.11
Superfluous J replied to SokarEntertainment's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Oh jeez of course. It's not tilde. It's "backquote" because tilde is shift-backquote. Here's the my config setting for it, which I think is stock: CAMERA_RESET { primary = BackQuote secondary = None group = 0 modeMask = -1 modeMaskSec = -1 } -
Navball 'Quick Scale' button.
Superfluous J replied to pandaman's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I personally just minimize it when it's not needed. I either want it big, or don't want it at all. Having it smaller doesn't save as much space as removing it entirely. -
Refocus Active Vessel 1.11
Superfluous J replied to SokarEntertainment's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
It's tilde. I use it all the time. You are correct about it not being in the settings.cfg which is weird because I distinctly remember when it changed from backspace to ~ and I *thought* I also distinctly remembered changing the config back to backspace because that's what I was used to. Since then, though, I've relearned tilde and not thought about it for years. Until now, when I find that not one single settings.cfg file I've got on me mentions "tilde" or "~" or returning focus in map mode to the current vessel. Weird. -
I voted 3.5. I think they're quite important to the game and are a significant reason why I play KSP and not Simple Rockets 2, but the game itself is good enough I'm not quite willing to say I'd stop playing if they vanished, or wouldn't have started if they weren't there to begin with. I will say I've often removed their portraits to gain that screen real estate back. It's the easiest part of the screen to cover with something else.

Jool is 6,000km radius Sun is 261,600km radius. If Jool was bigger than the Sun you'd be able to make it out as a sphere from Kerbin. Planetary objects don't collide in the game. If you're talking asteroids making craters then sure, but that's not a realism decision. It's a capabilities of the engine decision.
