Stone Blue replied to NecroBones's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
@Deimos Rast , are you needing to make and put a placeholder texture in the same folder as the part .cfg, using those texture switching patches?- 356 replies

@Deimos Rast Yeah...I've been using Windows since Win95... I'm the one all my friends & family come to for tech support... I learned my way around Windows, Windows software, and computer hardware pretty well... I've dabbled a few times in Linux over the years, (even hacked a couple original Xboxes with XBMC), but as I get older, I find my learning curves get steeper... Luckily, Linux (at least Ubuntu) seems to have gotten more GUI based then Linux used to be... But with all the stuff I'm having to learn from scratch with KSP modding, I dont think I'll be delving into Linux any time too soon... Thanx for letting me know Blender runs on Linux... I know earlier this year, Unity finally released an alpha (or maybe it was a beta), for Linux... I think it is @Claw that has been using it... ??? I still have an old PC from 2001 with XP and XBMC on it I use for a HTPC for the kids... I have lots of old WinXP games for them too that run on it... My laptop runs Win7, Win8.1 & Lubuntu, and a tablet that runs Win8.1.... I figure I have until Win8.1 is dropped for support by MS before I HAVE to go with Linux, or stop using PCs altogether... I can run KSP 1.0.5 on Lubuntu, heavily modded... I usually run ~120 mods or so... It was VERY stable for me... My only limitation is 6GB of RAM... Someday when I get an income again, I hope to double that... Unfortunately, you need to fudge around with KSP 1.1.+ to get it to run on Linux... I spent several days fudging around trying TONS of patches & messing with CLI stuff... But I guess its out of my reach to figure it out, so I havent played 1.1.+ except on Windows, and its VERY unstable for me... It got worse in 1.1.3... ... So I've been mostly dabbling with mod deving, instead of PLAYING, since 1.1.0 dropped...Oh well...

[1.2.0] Newbier Newb's Revamp of Civilian Population
Stone Blue replied to Tralfagar's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I agree... Also, by using CRP, I believe that would mean a player could install and use, basically ANY mod which uses the CRP resources... So basically, if TAC LS uses CRP-defined "food" resource, and USI LS, or BioMASS, or Kerbalism, etc, also use the CRP "food" resource, you should be able to use ANY one of them with Civilian Population... Which offers options and choices of what LS mod can be used, to be left in the hands of the player... With (hopefully) little to no support issues for Civilian Population...- 99 replies

Shoot...wish I could have made it tonite.... I'm in the middle of reworking/optimizing BioMASS textures...

Yes, there are a BUNCH of GUI options they added to 1.1.3...One of them being to slide the Navball to the left... You have to be in the flight screen...hit "esc", then "Settings"... Scroll down past "Gameplay", and you will see "UI", and then "Flight UI Elements"... THATS the section you want...

I'm just now learning basic texturing, but yes, I was thinking, if nothing else, changing the color of the stripes/endcaps.... I'd probably tweak the model a little as well, for exterior card slot storage, with animated doors, and add some kind of hardmounted heat radiator, or ,maybe make some small animated heat radiator panels...Maybe add a couple basic animated antennas, also... Depends on what I've learned up to whatever point I decide to actually give it a go...

Another awesome KSP thing from @r4m0n : Unity Float Curve Editor

With a growing list of supported mods (53 so far), that makes for a LOT of card slots, and required "cooling" & electrical demands, so I'm also thinking about turning ZZZs science lab model into a large Computer/Control Systems/Communications module... Completely dedicated to full ship & computer control center using the slots & cards from this mod....

@lo-fi wow... Sorry to hear about the back issues... I've recently been in that boat: I had anterior AND posterior LIF done all in one shot... $69,000 worth of titanium hardware alone... Unfortunately, my recovery didnt go well, so still have issues...Like wise, i cant sit, stand, walk, or lay down for much longer than an hour at a time... People see me walking around fine (usually), and think "Yeah...Whatever..."... But think about those 4 positions/activities I mentioned... If you are not doing one of those 4 at any one time, what else ARE you doing?... Not much... People mostly do not realise just how debilitating a back issue can be, even though you LOOK fine 90% of the time... Anyway, if you havent already, lo-fi, ask for and try to get a good TENS unit, and a good, large electric heating pad... I have a TENS that has the separate "sticky" pads you can place directly on your skin, but that became kind of a PIA all the time, so they gave me a WIDE, soft elastic waist "belt", that has 4 electrodes with velcro, that you can position anywhere on the belt, and that you dont have to mess with every time you use the TENS... They help A LOT when my back gets close to going out... I try to use those before taking my meds... I have pretty heavy meds, and considering I've been "on" them for over 10yrs, I save them as a last resort... And as you probably know, PT & regular walking helps... Sometimes I can grab my 4-legged Granny walker, and walk off the spasms & pain before my back completely seizes up... Hope you recover soon

@CobaltWolf Your findings?
-
Hmmm... Probably a bad habit, but since I do all manual installs, and usually run tons of mods, i always grab dependencies directly from their source, instead of relying on packaged versions...

SpaceDock is the ONLY hosting site I regularly check specifically for new/updated mods I dont catch with forum thread updates... Its nice having a bookmarked link i can click, and voila, theres quick, easy, basic links to all the newest mods/updates... IN chronological order, no less, so once I see one I already have, i know I dont have to search back any further in the list... MUCH better, easier than Curse, or even Git to find out about updates/new releases.... PS- Would still like to see NEW mods NOT included in, and seperated from, Recently Updated mods, tho ...

Just a note for FYI, I know OPT is currently being revamped for a new release, that includes all the legacy parts... I know the Shuttle Nose and Airliner Cockpit are included in the current mod dev... I'm not exactly sure what @stali79's plans are for them ultimately, tho... They may/may not get improvements from that "team"... ??

Activity Streams: did editing them change?
Stone Blue replied to Stone Blue's topic in Kerbal Network
Ahhh... Thanx @Red Iron Crown .. I guess I missed the little gear icons... I had set up the streams before that toolbar was introduced, and havent used it before... EDIT: Actually, more my fault, as I'm using a custom Stylish theme, and the gear icons are a VERY light color, so I literally didnt see them... So anyone using Stylish themes, be aware some elements dont show up very well, I guess... -
So I want to edit my Unread Threads stream, by removing, or blocking the console forum... I can no longer find how to edit which forums you can turn on/off in your Streams... Help??

I've been doing this also, after I realised awhile ago, that reloading the database using the debug menu, was not applying changes I was making...NOT just drag cubes... So I rarely use the debug menu anymore for reloading... I found after wasting time chasing my tail after figuring out why .mu/.cfg changes I was making werent showing after reloading, it was best just to shutdown and restart KSP altogether... ALONG with, deleteing the MM & part database .cfg like Spanner said above... Just be careful, if you have Blizzy's Toolbar installed, not to accidentally grab the toolbar_settings.dat file along with the 4 MM files to delete... THAT will seriously mess your game up, and make you chase your tail for awhile... NOT that "I", would have any intimate knowledge of such occurance...

[1.3.0] OPT Space Plane v2.0.1 - updated 29/07/2017
Stone Blue replied to K.Yeon's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
So I peeked at the cockpits that dont have working lights... They dont have any emissive textures assigned. Also, no animations for lights. Most could really use some optimizing of the models, ie object hierarchy... Some of the textures seem either incorrectly named, and/or duplicated... ie the 1st size_2 4m cockpit that shows in the editor, is using a texture named for adaptors, NOT cockpit, or "main"... -
What's "Active Texture Manager"?
Stone Blue replied to Spaceception's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
It was a mod, that modified how textures were loaded in RAM... It offered better performance, and allowed people to run more mods before hitting the 32bit 4GB RAM limit.... Its pretty much an outdated method though, since KSP 1.0 released. v1.0 introduced the use of .dds textures in the stock game, and ATM is pretty much obsolete now. -
Or if you're gonna be using B9 instead... I'd LIKE to try to use patches for BOTH FS/IFS and B9 switching in BioMASS, and the other mods I'm working on...
