  1. Calm down there, Cobalt has just decided to work on LRV, let's give him some time to figure out the LRV wheels before we request another rover. We might send him back into the no rover mindset.
  2. Full album: Imgur: The magic of the Internet Random Satellite loaded up with Scansat stuff. Not in career or anything, and don't plan to utilize resources or anything. I just want to see the scansat map lit up fully. While I agree having Viking would be great, I'm not so sure it will be easy. Viking's geometry is very unique to say the least, which is probably why so many modders are put off by it, imo. I mean, a triangle bus with two angled tanks, plus those engines with the 100 nozzles (Overly dramatic estimate)... I would be weary about tackling it too. On top of all that, the Viking Orbiter spacecraft and Viking descent capsule would also have to be made, since Viking itself can't make it to Mars on its own, which is more work in of itself.
  3. I found these: They look like mockups, not sure. Maybe it was originally designed with turbine exhaust dumping (Open cycle/hot bleed) but then switched? nerva2.jpg (243×326) (projectrho.com) nerva5.jpg (3832×2456) (projectrho.com) Sources: NERVA (Nuclear Engine for Rocket Vehicle Application) (daviddarling.info) Engine List 2 - Atomic Rockets (projectrho.com)
  4. The Constellation program nuclear transport didn't use NERVA iirc. It used a different engine I think. The transport I made is of a Saturn era transport system using Nerva as the main engine. Or were you talking about someone making a mockup of the Constellation transport using the Saturn Sofi tanks? Also, @Zorg Did you forget to include the turbine exhaust nozzles or just opted to not model the nozzles? I think they would make for good ullage/rotation nozzles if you were to add them.
  5. Full album: Imgur: The magic of the Internet Nerva Tax. Based off the orbit assembled Saturn era transport vehicle. Decided to take it to Minmus as a test run. Got there with 3816 m/s to spare. Had to waste some because physics decided to break down and turn the rendezvous trajectory into an orbit that didn't go out to Minmus...
  6. "Not sure if... up for more Apollo modding." *Update 1.11 literally being more Saturn and Apollo modding.*
  7. Full album: Imgur: The magic of the Internet Also, the second stage still had about 13 to 1500+ m/s in it, so... you could probably take this thing to Duna. And this is on 2.5 scale. Edit: Oh, 100 x 100 km at 0 degrees btw.
  8. Seems to me that RIFT is a lot smaller than Nerva and is actually more the size of timberwind. So you're putting a lot of extra weight because of oversized engine.
  9. Custom static building built by Katniss, adopted by TruthfulGnome. Clicking the area above the door opens it.
  10. Yeah, possibly. There's not much to do about that. Realistically the booster mounts would have to be on the intertank structure as not to damage the tanks, and to require less work when applying the foam, I would think. That means in order to lower the SRB, the full 3-piece SRMU, which means it won't match up with the booster connectors. 2.5 segment SRMU 3 segment SRMU Custom rockets really are a balance between functionality and aesthetics... and sometimes, one wins over the other. In my case aesthetics. I'd rather have the booster connector on the metal insterstage than the foam tank. So 3 segment SRMU it is. On a side note: Is it just me or is this really pleasing on the eyes to look at? All white Delta IV with white boosters.
  11. Should probably be lower so they clear the engine, yeah, but then I think it would be hovering over the gaps in the skirt which won't look good.
  12. Found a bug/typo @AlphaMensae The Saturn Free-Standing launch platform weights 2000 tons in "1 ton" mode and 3999 tons in "2000 ton" mode.
