Thanks, yeah, the game kind of has an uncanny way of giving the player random awesomeness! And speaking of music theory, wonder if anyone got the 525 Hz joke. :)

I don't know a lot of specifics about sheet music (just some basics) but I think 525Hz would be the frequency that Vall would represent were it a note in the music, that's what I thought.

Congrats on Tylo! I haven't been there in a very long time, and that was with quantum vacuum thrusters from the old KSP Interstellar (before it was contunued). Nice to see it done properly, where you don't have antimatter reactors powering your engines. Best of luck on the ascent to orbit. :)

mpressive, I can't really read music but a bit of context and the (I don't know the terms) ... the bit of the music for the drums in the lower bar told me what it was.

Nice to see it worked out, also that bit with the Joolian moons visible looked like something straight out of the movie that made that bit of music famous.

It didn't ell me, can you do so instead?

We've landed on Tylo, also known as The Giant Jerk Rock, Airless Annoying Kerbin, Oversized Mun, Don't Land There, and Gosh Darn It!

Of course, takeoff may well be harder than landing. I would recommend the lowest possible orbit, since you'll use less fuel on inefficient radial/anti-radial burns. Depending on how far you can roll, it might actually work to point prograde and burn horizontally along the ground until you can get a high enough apoapsis. You'll have more drag, but less fighting with gravity.

You do realise you're talking to Jebediah Kerman of Kerbfleet, right??

Actually I'm not worried about that; with full tanks I don't think I'll have any problems at all. The nice thing about arriving at 15km altitude is that you don't blow up if your velocity is 10 m/s too high. :)

If Qwammer had any axial-mounted engines at all I might indeed try that--however, the only rocket motors aboard are those four aerospikes, mounted orthagonally to the direction the wheels roll...

...yep, and I just spent an extremely harrowing morning riding along as Jeb executed a sub-orbital hop down to the Midlands biome. I now want to do as few Tylo landings as I possibly can. Once Bill has the boat fueled up again we'll see how fast I can get 'er to roll using RCS thrusters.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean.

If you mean by me realising what the music was, it was on page 9 when at the bottom of the page I saw the notes there and (due to a limited understanding of some sheet music basics) I could tell it was a rapid repetition of two notes. What told me that it was the "sunrise" fanfare from Also sprach Zarathustra was that that excerpt of sheet music showed up at the very start of this story during a simulated Tylo landing making this a call back to then (and quite a fitting one).

I hope that makes sense, I don't know many/enough music terms to explain it better.

So the song is Sunrise, I don't know it (which with my musical knowledge is incredebly unsuprising)

well, to be more exact, it's the opening fanfare of Also sprach Zarathustra, a song made famous for its use in 2001: a space odyssey (not attempting patronisation, just trying to be completely precise).

Let's make it easy. Play this in the background @superstrijder15 then go read those pages again :)

I don't find it patronizing, I love random trivia!!:D

Also I'm on this world to learn, and in this subject there is a lot I don't know yet as my personal preferences lay elsewhere, somewhere close to Jool I think

That Was Awesome! I tried to read the music as it played while reading the comic, but that is really hard.

So I started watching Star Trek (both TNG and TOS) and now I can get all the references!

Going to finish season one of TOS Soon(TM), already finished season one of TNG, not sure where to go next

Then watch the Star Trek movies, the old ones, not the reboots.  The Motion Picture, The Wrath of Khan, The Search For Spock, The Voyage Home, The Final Fontier, and The Undiscovered Country.

Then go watch Airplane!.

Woooooo!  Congratulations on the Tylo landing!

I know how hard it is to get anything safely down on Tylo.   And not having a backup plan definitely makes for a more anxiety-inducing situation.

It's wonderful to finally get to this moment.  And very beautifully done, too!

Happy landings!  Hey if Kerbfleet can land the Qwammer on Tylo, how scary can the Kerbulans be?

As if I haven't seen airplane a hundred times over already...

but the movies have non-redshirts dying, I don't want to be sad!

Also, I really should stop watching the episodes before I find one that's 1:1 this comic. They keep getting closer.

Speaking of Airplane!, this is how I imagine @Kuzzter responding to suggestions:

Very funny!

Somewhat Kerbulan, though, I must say.  :)

Happy landings!
