How can I uninstall specific effects, is it sufficient to remove the relevant file and restart the game?

I do not enjoy the RCS Thruster effects and would like to uninstall them.

option A: You could revert to the previous configs (which are less realistic, but resemble the stock rcs effect more):
you do this by downloading this version of SWE: https://github.com/KnightofStJohn/StockWaterfallEffects/releases/tag/0.6.1
and navigate to: GameData\StockWaterfallEffects\Engine Configurations.
There you'll find the file "RCS.cfg". Just copy that one, and replace it in the same folder in the newest release.

option B: To just get the stock particle effects: delete the rcs config file: GameData\StockWaterfallEffects\Engine Configurations\RCS.cfg

@Knight of St John Not sure if this has been mentioned, but the sound FX config for the Wheesley has an issue.

In your Wheesley.cfg file, line 7 you have given the audio FX the names of fx_wheesley_running  BUT down lower, in this part:

@MODULE[ModuleEngines*]
    {
      %powerEffectName = fx_wheesley_power
      %spoolEffectName = fx_wheesley_spool
    }

You've called it fx_wheesley_power

ok, that may have not been the problem... AirplanePlus adds a patchs to some of the stock engines... these may be the culprits.

Going to add in an :AFTER[AirplanePlus] to the engines that have MM patches in AirplanePlus:
Goliath

Juno

Panther

Wheesley

Whiplash

Thank you!

I chose option B.

I just installed this mod with CKAN and I first had a weird camera effect on the launch pad... The mouse wheel zoom didn't zoom but rather changed the visible angle on the screen. Everything looked parabolic when I zoomed out. I still did it after I reverted to VAB and launched again. Then I restarted KSP without changing any mods and it worked normally... weird.

When I loaded a ship in orbit and it makes a very loud sound, like every sound from every part was triggered momentarily. Like it crashed and every engine was switched from off to on at the same time. It does the same thing for me with Real Plume. It sounds a little different- this one lasts a little longer. Anybody else have this?

The zoom thing is a game feature, when you have the shift key (or alt? I don't remember now) pressed while scrolling it changes camera FOV. I had some issues where the game was doing that without the  key pressed, to fix it simply press and release that key.

Not sure about the other issue though.  Perhaps something with your installation. I would suggest removing all mods from the game and leaving only waterfall and stock waterfall effects and their dependencies. If the problem does not happen,  add back the mods one by one or in batches of a few each time, so you can see what other mod is causing the issue.

ah it's great to have people be this invested in ksp graphics. makes me happy I made this mod :-)
well, your arguments are irrefutable. I guess next update I'll make the plume orange. As you said, it'd probably be quite dim compared to the engine bell glow, but I don't like having invisible plumes, so just as with the cherenkov radiation, I think I'll exaggerate the exhaust glow so it is actually visible. Thanks for your feedback.

When can we expect 0.7.0?

ok... lol one, or both of those things fixed it

I'm glad you were able to figure out a solution.
perhaps you could verify which of those two made it work?
then I can add it to the next release (and credit you)

I've been thinking about tweaking RCS some more, adding new kerolox plumes (by Zorg), and maybe revamping the poodle/terrier plumes.
but no timeframe for that yet.

I think it's kind of sad that this simple mod really needs 4 mods to work/be integrated. I actually really wanted to install it, because I saw it here:

 ...but I am sorry.  I am not going to spend 30 minutes to install 4 mods just to be able to install a plume mod.

If there is a simple install possibility where I don't need to install anything else, lemme know.

All you need is B9, a common dependancy, Waterfall Core, also used along many other mods, and Stock Waterfall Effects, I fail to see how that's four dependancies.

Installing Manually mods that needs many Dependencies is really painful [RO for example], however, there's a thing called CKAN which allows you to install mods for KSP, and a useful thing is that it automatically installs the dependencies of the mod you're installing, so you don't have to search every dependency for it.

*facepalm* Oh cmon @AtomicTech, you literally forgot the most important dependency mod... Module Manager.<_<

Spend 30 minutes to install CKAN. It automatically installs dependencies. So simple.

Thanks... never had that happen before.

Yeah... takes some time but I suppose that's the next step. I'm amazed others haven't had this problem.

Apart from CKAN, downloading 4 zipfiles and placing 3 folders and 1 file in a folder doesn't take 30 minutes.

But to each his own ofcourse.

  • 1 month later...

I seem to have an issue where my reliant engine plumes are really offset. I'm not sure what caused this, as I think it worked fine before.

request from AtomicTech:

"Hi all, I've got a simple request for anyone who has some time to spare and willing to test a beta feature. I've been working on and off for a little while on a Hypergolic plume for the Cheetah. I've been meaning to test it but Real LifeTM has been getting in the way and I haven't been able to spend anytime actually playing KSP.
