Kerbal Space Program 2: If you could add a planet/system would would it look like?

Recommended Posts

  1. Suggestion:  A brown dwarf with 4 planets being 2 habitable, orbiting a neutron star.
  2. Suggestion: A red dwarf equivalent of Barnard's Star with 5 orbiting planets.
  3. Suggestion: A gaseous planet that was ejected from its solar system containing 7 moons.
  4. Suggestion: A main sequence star with a hot jupiter with the rotation stopped by the star's gravity, in this system it would also see 3 planets with a very irregular orbit, more quite iregular even similar to Sedna.
  5. Suggestion: red giant, with 2 gaseous planets and 6 rocky planets, orbiting a red hypergiant, with 3 gaseous planets, a rocky planet twice the size of Eve and rotating so fast that it would be quite flat, and 5 more rocky planets.

A neutron star system, a close-orbiting binary, or a black hole system.

If they can do Rask/Rusk, they ought to be able to do a close-orbiting binary, with the planets orbiting the stellar pair on normal elliptical orbits. The neutron star and the black hole would just need different visuals. You wouldn't need to simulate the event horizon or tidal forces physically, the craft would just be destroyed if they got too close.

This is a cluster of debris that arranged in such a way that the center of gravity and center of rotation are open to space. A player can fly through the center. This body contains surfaces of positive, negative, and zero gravity and in  many angles about the center. Many new challenges and interesting orbits/structures are possible with this. Low gravity and smallish size allows players to explore the unique dynamics of the body using RCS. Good item to add to Jool for using as a base to build interstellar ships.

What if some unknown dark corner of this galaxy with many solar systems in it that they're building, you find a solar system with a harmless class B star with a rocky world nearest it, a high pressure yellow greenhouse gas crazy planet not unlike eve just yellow next, then a super habitable blue marble planet not unlike Kerbin itself with only 1 moon not unlike the mun, then a red dusty dune planet not unlike duna, and a big asteroid belt that looks like someone blew up dres! Then a yellow ringed and big brown redish and white gas giants really huge in its system not unlike Jool just one is bigger and the other has rings, and not green. Then theres these 2 smaller icy gas like planets that glow a beautiful blue with very small ring systems of their own, even one with a polar orbit ring system. Then a small planet, (or is it a dwarf planet?) that orbits on the outskirts but intersecpts another bodies orbital path, not unlike eeloo!

TL;DR put our Sol system somewhere in the kerbal galaxy. :D i think that'd be a cool thing to find.

I want a Uranus analogue, with greenish aquamarine teint and the ghostly rings orbiting  vertically instead of horizontally.
I want it to have 7 moons, one of which with a great , large view of the planet and a tilted orbit so you can also see the rings ans you move from side to side during orbit.  That moon needs good resources for refueling a mothership far from home.

Other than that:
 - A system with a red dwarf sun, and a habitable tidally locked 0.65g (kerbin's), very tick atmosphere that does not prevent seeing the sun/stars (on the dark side) with a desert at the pole, a nice ocean near the terminator, and nice ice sheets on the dark side.  Something like that.  Black plants and trees for bonus points.
 - The fictional Gliese 581 system, the one with the 6 planets including the supposed habitable one, the 100% oceanic one with very thick atmo (technically habitable with th proper atmo), and the one slightly too hot (but not venus hot, say maybe going to 125 celcius during day to about 70-85 during night, so you'd have water boiling off on the day, only to fall back down at night).
 - An habitable exo-moon around a Saturn-like gaz giant in the habitable zone.
 - A planet with an highly elliptical orbit (say from mercury to almost-jupiter), which would go from searing hot/dry to "snowball-earth" with seasons meaning great melting/flooding of lowlying bassins to intense evaporation as summer aproaches  (Now I don't know what KSP2 engine can do, but one can dream!)

An icy moon or planet with an accessible subsurface ocean would be awesome. I really wish that KSP2 expands the exploration aspect, underwater environments (maybe with different biomes) would add a lot of variety imo.

A super-earth with 2+g gravity at the surface and a thick atmosphere, for a late game challenge could be cool.

As for systems, something with a pulsar. After seeing Leethe from Galaxies Unbound I cant get over how awesome they look.

This is an intriguing idea. I wonder though how well you could implement it without actual N-body physics though? It's a lot more complicated than Rask/Rusk so it would probably need its own systems, unless you just made the gravity field so weak you wouldn't really notice it doesn't behave like it's supposed to.

I would enjoy seeing a planet dark grey in appearance and shrouded in storms. Upon entering the atmosphere, the player is soon enveloped by the cloud layer, and all they can see is darkness and flashes of lightning. Breaking through the bottom of the cloud layer, the player is greeted by a turbulent ocean and jagged, mountainous islands. Either the player need to land on the islands or have their ship smashed to smithereens by the waves. With KSP 2, lightning flashes and waves shouldn't be hard to implement.

Gravity would approach 0 near the center, not around the yellow ring. Any orbits here would be unstable because the gravity wouldn't be even anywhere.

A Nemesis like object, and some sort of procedurally generated Oort Cloud with a few actual on-rails minor planets in it.

That or I’d like to see something like the mod MPE be implemented into the stock game in some capacity.

this will look so cool! a rogue gas planet with moons. there is no light here! the planet would have flashes of lightning on it, just visual but very cool in the dark. these would be it's moons:

1. a small moon which orbits extremely close to the planet. like EXTREMELY close. it would have lava lakes, which look very cool in the dark. the terrain is also exremely hilly with no flat region anywhere on the moon, making constructing a base or even just landing a major challenge.

2. a larger moon a little bit farther out than the lava moon but still very close. the tidal forces from the planet would make it so that a little bit of water is still there. the rocks would be glowing, and would be a good source of radioactive materials (for your ship building). underwater there is life that gives of light too, but only a little bit. this would encourage underwater exploration! there is some oxygen in the atmosphere, enough for jet engines, but not enough for kerbals to breathe.

3. a ice moon with no glow in the dark effects... on the surface! but there is an entire subsurface ocean you can explore (current KSP wouldn't allow 3D terrain, but maybe KSP 2 does?) and in this ocean you find life similar to that on the other moon but slightly different. maybe it got to the other moon by transsphermia? it could be because this moon has giant cryovolcanos that erupt from time to time all the way into space!

4. a moon much farther out that is super cold. it has oceans of liquid helium because that is the only thing that is still liquid at the extremely cold temperatures. if you land in it you get destroyed. landing here would be difficult as there are only a few small islands. but it would give an awesome view of all the glowing moons and the planet with it's lightning!

oh, and some asteroid moons that may or may not be glowing too...

I can't figure out how to illustrate it properly, nor can I adequately predict how orbital mechanics would work with it, or how a dev team would implement it... so it would probably be a lot of fun and new experiences for players.

I just want a planet I can fly through without hitting anything. Swiss cheese planet! Unrealistic at large scale, but maybe some ice evaporated away from a rocky core on some asteroids stuck together?

No idea how to get it done, just submitting for something new.

A rogue planet would actually be awesome!

That would! Maybe a rouge planet could be tossed around from system to system!

A few handcrafted rogue planets would be cool, and it could also present the opportunity for procedurally generated planets to show up occasionally.

That would be incredibly unlikely without massive cheating.

Thats would be better than plaents being tossed!
