My Kerbals became truely smart. They slapped floaties to the interplanetary vessel so they can brake more excellent. ...Floaties?

... Yes... Floaties...  from USI survivability pack. @RoverDude , did you know this? Look :D, and thanks alot... it`s just great!

Finally home at 10 p.m and I get an idea of an SSTO during the whole day! It is way different than what I drawn but it keep the global idea.

I made three flights with just one reaching a 100 x 100 km orbit due to some instability problems in the astmosphere upper layers. There is still a lot of work on, but before leaving the game I find a way to give it approx' 1600 dV once in closed cycle. But with its mass of 51 tons and glutton RAPIER I don't know how it will be...

I haven't had a chance to play for a few days but I had some screenshots left to put together for my newer pages in my mission report.

This image goes on a not yet completed page:

20zwvbp.jpg

That was something of a bear to dock.  For some reason the STS (which I did download) has perfect RCS in 4/6 directions in docking mode and no RCS in 2/6 directions making it somewhat complicated to maneuver.  The Hyperion on the other hand had far too little RCS to be meaningful and the Orion still docked, the SAS over corrected so much that it was of limited help but I did dock it.

I'm likely to turn off the habitation penalties because the Hyperion claims it can support Habitation for 17 kerbals for one year in the VAB and only supports 10 kerbals for 80 days in orbit.  I've actually recovered the crew and cheat-edited it back into orbit a few times and actual vs Theoretical discrepancy stays.  I may try a few more rebuilds but I'm likely to just switch it off and go next chance I get to really play.  Next page I make should be them on their way to Duna (then I plan to do some "set design" building mock interiors for the crews).

Tme MTU Meteor is back home!

Unfortunately it has only 40 m/s delta-v left. Which is just barely enough to perform a capture burn, but not enough to circularize. Probably because I never aerobraked.

So let's aerobrake!

Several rounds of aerobraking later and I'm in a nice, circular orbit. My inclination, however, leaves much to be desired

Unfortunately I only have 7 m/s remaining, so I can't fix it. Oh well.

What skybox is that? I've been looking for a similar one for ages and can't find a good one.

Also, I've been doing some precision bombing. I managed to blow up the observatory (for the record, I was aiming for the RnD center, not the VAB.)

Got royally annoyed by a game bug. When I click to place the end of a strut or fuel line, KSP is registering that click twice - once to place the strut, but then AGAIN to rip the blooming target part off the rocket.

And no, I strongly doubt my mouse is faulty. One, the issue is too particular to that specific situation in KSP. Two, I tried unplugging my mouse and enabling mousekeys and still got the same issue.

To be frank I'm feeling done with KSP now if the game's still got such fundamental screwups.

I can relate. I've had this happen a few times, not often, but a few times. It is very annoying. For a while I'd been doing saves after placing nearly every part because of it. It seems to have settled down for me though. I don't know why. There is however a new issue... click lag. That's where I'll click on a part in the list, drag it over to where I want it... only it hasn't grabbed any part from the list, and instead grabs a part of the ship. I'm sure you can picture that, and my reaction... (insert foul language here) _____!

In other news, I finally grabbed one of those sparkly pretty asteroids. I found this Big Mo, a class E behemoth, floating by, so I ran out to it for an encounter. I'm happy now.

Ugh, I have that issue too. Ctrl+z is my friend

(also congrats on finding a magic boulder :D)

I just did my first asteroid mission. Maybe I shouldn't have jumped straight to a class E, but it's what the contract called for. And hey, I still captured it into Kerbin orbit.

Now I just need to figure out how to get it to Minmus.

Sent the C.A.M.E.L (Ceti Advanced Medium Exploration Lander) to Ceti for some science gathering.  Val and the newbie scientist and engineer had everything in hand.  Successful Gael orbit, successful Ceti transfer, successful Ceti landing, gathered lots of science.  Headed back to Gael and all went well there.  Picked up a bit more science back in Gael orbit (EVAs over biomes I hadn't gotten to yet, a couple of orbital telescope shots that I still needed), then did my deorbit burn.

Landed on the side of a mountain.  Trashed all the science in the Universal Storage wedges.  Managed to get the capsule to stop rolling long enough for me to hit the Recover Vessel button...

...and the game crashed.  Damn game even took away my ability to rage quit!  Reloaded, hoping to at least recover the capsule and crew.  Nope, by the time I could get to the tracking station and select the capsule, it was already debris, with only the Clamp-O-Tron left.  No Val, no newbies.

THEN I rage quit...

I need to get into the habit of saving before deorbiting...

I decided to turn my Star Wars replica Blockade Runner into an SSTO.  Not a big stretch based on the design but it turned out pretty awesome!

She flies pretty awesome if I do say so myself.

Looks super awesome, but I can't believe you reentered and landed it. Did you use chutes? Because I don't see control surfaces or VTOL engines.

The control surfaces are wings are embedded inside the craft.  It's a little trick I picked up along the way.  It actually has three sets of shuttle wings, you just cant see them.  I'll be posting the craft shortly.

After an evenings highbrow conversation (they claim) and a small sherry (oh come on) the Buzzard team approached the target area.

screenshot96_zpsx2hpm57t.png

Weaving in between the peaks they noted the waypoint was pleasingly close to the anomaly for a change. Finding a flattish bit nearby they decided to unpack the rover.

screenshot97_zps8j82lhwg.png

However the rover decided to self destruct leaving a mangled mess embedded in the cargo bay. Ooops. So it fell to Staline to leg it across and plant a flag.

Lifting off again Val deftly edged in close enough to take a reading before lifting away dislodging the errant rover in the process.

With one of their toys broken the team decided to return home. With Val sketching ideas for Buzzard 4 on napkins, envelopes and the back of Staline's helmet.

After some routine checks at my ISRU site (note the pile of dumped descent stages in the background, Kreenpeace will not be amused!), good old Lorbert took a trip to a twin crater site near Midlands Base:

Driving the Dakar, putting in my competition times. They suck, even for a bone-stock solar entry. :D

The last few days were spent building and flying the KSP. The K-erpollo S-pace shi-P.
But things didn't LOOK right.
It need a Rover.
Here is Jeb and Val practicing in simulated Munar condition their next mission.

The rover is powered by an RTG.
