[1.2.x] Kerbonov Kn-2 Cockpit Module

I took some time to fix this old beautiful mod a little bit and to bring it closer in line with 1.0.5.

I reordered the files a little bit and made some config file magic. 

All credit to Sam Hall, I didn't touch any models or textures, just config files.

  • Fixed RATO. Changed to ModuleEngineFX
  • Fixed Mini Jet Engine (Using stats similar to the new Juno engine). Made it use the bundled sound again.
  • Used the default decoupler sound for the mini decoupler  so it has sound.

Excellent mod, especially in interiors. Many thanks to Sam Hall, Darkona and Deimos Rast for link.

It look even better with this new cockpit's transparency feature:

Any necro is good necro when it comes to this cockpit. I simply can't handle how great this one is/was. Just dropped it in 1.1.3 and so far, so good!

I wonder if there's any chance those old RPM configs still work? (If I can find them...)

Which RPM configs? I'm pretty sure I have all of Sam Halls work. I know he has a number of other IVA's floating around. I believe there is an ASET IVA for this, which I have, but I haven't tested to see if it actually worked (just peaked at the configs).

I'm not really sure -- but I think it may have been a set of ASET props, yeah (including some RPM panels).

I found something on this old-old link, but I don't think these are remotely compatible at the moment: http://host.guard13007.com/ksp/MODLIST.html

well the important thing is the download link still works (dropbox) and it's not the IVA I was talking about. ASET has RPM too, but this one looks just RPM. Good find. I would bet it's still compatible, as this cockpit is pretty old itself.

Oh, that's right! I remember this one. I was disappointed he pulled the KN-2 out of the pack.

Looks like it might take a tweak or two -- the craft loads with that "hidden Kerbal, no IVA" mode.

I think I will update this mod for 1.2.1, starting...now.

Anyone have any suggestions? Strictly config only.

Otherwise, it'll get a full pass: all the new features, plus light balancing if needed (no change in functionality likely).

Will be done in patch format.

 

@Beetlecat what's the deal with the IVA issue you were having?

!! Yes, please!

@Deimos Rast My IVA would freak out if I tried to load a set of RPM configs for this cockpit. Those just needed some adjustments as @rozmetal posted, and it was fine. I've not tried any RPM / IVA changes to this or other crew pods since 1.2 dropped, so I'm sure it'll be a whole new set of challenges. :)

@Beetlecat Try this on for size.

I updated @Sam Hall glorious Kn-2 Cockpit and gave it a light balance pass. The biggest changes were to the thermal dynamics, which were on the high side (maxTemp around 3000 for most parts, whereas stock rarely goes above 2000).

I also added in a TweakScale patch, and a couple of patches which are disabled by default. One adds the crew report and science container to the HD external command seat, and the other...re-imagines the Hood Ornament.:D

No real change in functionality (except for that patch). See changelog below for full details.

As always, feedback/suggestions welcome. Everything tested and working in 1.2.1.

Fly safe (but not too safe). :)

Wish you hadn't said that...I've been explicitly told to let that one stay dead, but it is one of my favorites...*sigh*

Well, it will stay dead with with that kind of thinking :D btw if you need help with it.....let;s just say you are not the only one who likes that mod :D
