[1.3.0] Kerbal Engineer Redux 1.1.3.0 (2017-05-28)
Mark Kerbin replied to cybutek's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
M8 we have a 1.4.3 update. Its non offical but works and is from a good dev. Scroll up a bit =P -
Usually when something doesn't work for me, I go install hyperedit, turn on the cheat menu, and MAKE IT WORK!!!!! That or I turn of the game, swear at it for a few minutes, go watch a youtube video, forget what I was mad at, reboot, try again without remembering I'm trying again, and am suddenly very happy after it works. As for painful docking, use Mechjeb if you just can't handle the FPS. You can also lower the quality, get a better PC, and or install Kerbal Attachment system and Kerbal Inventory system and remove extra bits. Theres also the option of having a dedicated tug for the station to help stick on new modules

Thinking of picking the game up, how is it?
Mark Kerbin replied to Soapstone's topic in KSP1 Discussion
In a word; badass As for the mixed reviews, though I may be biased given the fact I am here, most of them cropped up around a major update, or the T2 purchase, or the new DLC release. What I mean is that its mostly people either, A) freaking out over some new change they don't like or understand or B) Getting worked up because they can't figure out how to do something. This game is awesome if you learn how to play on your own terms, and aren't afraid of admitting defeat and asking for help, something that probably will not be an issue for you given that you joined forums BEFORE actually getting the game. (Nice play BTW) You seem to have already started playing, and since I wrote this before you posted that, this will be kinda out of date. (Ment to post a while ago and it didn't... Woops.) On a more "How to start" note (From my own experience, you may have different ideas) ... If and when you start playing, DO NOT start out with sandbox. Yes I know that sounds counter intuitive, but bear with me. KSP is complex. There are tons of parts, mechanics, and just general skill with building and physics you have to master. Starting sandbox is essentially throwing yourself in at the deep end. Sure you may float, but its gonna be ugly. The Career and or Science gamemodes are much less intimidating for new players, and from personal experience, more fun. (You do you though) Both start you off with a few basic parts and make you learn the game by slowly giving you more "science" to unlock more parts as you go. Career also adds in Funds, meaning you have to manage what you build and how you build it, I find this forces you to be more inventive with vessel and mission design and execution. That usually leads to better/ cleaner looking vessels. Very gratifying feeling when you manage to do something you never tried before, or thought impossible. After you feel like you have a good grip on things, definitely start mod hunting. (No don't go hunt down moderators... Thats creepy and illegal. ). Theres a few I would suggest. (Just google or search on forums, I can't copy links and I don't know why) 1. Kerbal Engineer Redux. Provides readouts of vital info about your craft. This will let you see what your vessel can do stage by stage, before spending hours in flight. 2. Trajectories. Self Explanatory. Shows you where your vessel will end up landing. (And or impacting, if you are like me and forgot that last engine or fuel tank) 3. Transfer Window Planner. Shows you the best times to send a vessel on a Interplanetary trajectory. Lets you specify various things such as the traget orbit, launch time, and Delta V. (Change in Velocity, Use KER to calculate) 4. I would also highly recommend finding some Contract addons for use with Contract Configurator. (Only for Career games) These can spice up the sometimes bland base contract system. (This is also a total plug for my contract pack...) Good luck and happy piloting! May the kraken be with you. -
Is that a thing? because that needs to be a thing

Ksp is weird in that, unlike most games, sandbox is not a good way to introduce beginners. It’s so complex that career mode actually works better for learning the ropes. It also encourages practice and refining techniques, with the whole funds system.

Ok @blackrack tks for the speedy reply. not at my pc rn, but I can say that scatterer is not functional for me. I copied everything from the .30b zip from space dock into my game data. Scatterer menu opens but no sign of clouds in the flight scene or elsewhere. Atmosphere seems to be duller but that’s about it. I can find logs when I get back. runing ksp 1.4.3 and I had MM reload everything, plus did a fresh install of scatterer. tks [Edit] Im a twit

That actually makes it fire constantly. And apparently -1 causes mayhem (reddit) so I'm not giving that a go. =P

I too can't seem to get anything done with KAC. I am pretty sure I have done a careers worth of missions without having even launched a Duna probe. Still love the mod tho.
-
Alright, first if anyone knows how to do this without a mod, please let me know. Anyway, I would very much like a mod that removes the autosave feature from flight and maybe the editor. Similar to that mod that forces an autosave after various important moments, only the exact opposite. Quite frankly I think it is silly there is no way to turn off autosave seeing as it causes my game to stutter every 5 or so seconds. I just need some way to kill it.
-
Ridiculously frequent autosaves lagging game
Mark Kerbin replied to Dirtmoto228's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (Console)
I have a similar problem but I use a PC. For us it seems the game saves whenever the heck it wants. Specifically every 5 for so seconds, which causes a stutter which is **** me the *** off. (Sorry its just annoying) Not really sure how to help you guys tho. Best of luck. -
+1 Respect

[1.8.1-1] [PLEASE FORK ME] Kopernicus & KittopiaTech
Mark Kerbin replied to Thomas P.'s topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Well thats a whole new sort of screwed. Had a similar problem a while ago. Delete all Kopernious folders and anything using it, remove all MM stuff. Then move in fresh copies . worked for me. BTW do you have SVT installed? that causes mayhem sometimes with updates. -

Very Very Badly. (Maybe) Those panels may be broken. Updating may fix. You probably were fine tho. -

[1.8.1-1] [PLEASE FORK ME] Kopernicus & KittopiaTech
Mark Kerbin replied to Thomas P.'s topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Yep. Looks like I will have to uninstall it for the time being. The Steam going 1.4.3 then me reverting seems to have broken it. -

Mark Kerbin replied to Thomas P.'s topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Can confirm that you can go back to previous versions of KSP in steam if need be. I mean if you don't want to you could mess with the version file, which may make it work, but I have no idea. More likely it would break everything. -
Figured I should voice my support for the continuation of this awesome mod. I want my screechy landing gear back, darn it! (JK, well kinda. Take your time, we all have things to do IRL.) =P
-
@linuxgurugamer Tks for keeping this mod going. I had been looking for a way to trigger an action group when comm net is lost, like real rovers and probes, with their emergency mode and all. Super useful.
-
Ah yes. Didn’t see that until after this. glad you figured it out

Hmmm. @PaladinPizza pretty sure your game is missing some file or data folder. If it’s on steam, you should do the “check integrity” option when you right click on ksp. This will take a bit, but it goes through and makes sure that nothing is missing or corrupted. If you installed manually, first completely uninstall through your control panel. Then use the installer from the website. I would recommend downloading a fresh file. If you don’t want to do that, do it manually but be very careful to follow its instructions and put it in its own folder preferably in “my documents”. @KandoKris, hate to say this, but I am pretty sure that your computer is just incapable of loading all those parts. Try lower settings, and if it is still broken try out better time warp continued. It offers a “slow mo” mode so you can put it on .5 or slower to give your pc more time to load. I would also recommend coming in at normal speed with no time warp if you don’t want to use the mod. If it’s just one vessel, it’s likely that there is a physics bomb in it. krakened parts or something wrong in the persistentence that doesn’t come up until it’s loaded.
