  1. OK you've got me. I was trying to avoid derailing this thread by not replying but apparently you've failed to see reason. I was NOT talking about healing injuries and setting broken bones. I was talking about GENETIC defects. Animals also suffer nasty injuries and they too can recover from it. (If they're not eaten first that is.) Defects like hydrocephalus, spina bifida, myopia, diabetes, haemophilia. The list goes on and on. Many are benign, others are life wrecking. But with modern medicine most can live a (relatively) normal life. A few generations ago the more serious illnesses were rare, sufferers didn't get old and did not pass their illness down to the next generation. Nowadays they do. A few examples from my personal social circle: My cousin has a deformity in her hand due to her mother using the wrong medicines during pregnancy. It's nothing too serious, she can do pretty much everything anybody else can but her son has the exact same deformation. When he grows up and has children of his own they will probably have it too. My co-worker has pretty bad eyes up to the point she's disqualified to ever own a drivers license. But she got lucky, her sister is nearly blind. Her son, a great kid by the way, has the same poor sight. He's barely old enough to start school and already has to miss out on a large part of life. And these are just too minor examples. But genetic defects like this are on the rise. It starts to become almost uncommon NOT to suffer from one or more genetic illnesses these days.
  2. Without seeing your design nobody knows. There are dozens of possible reasons why your 'plane' won't fly. Upload a screenshot with the CoM and CoL markers visible and perhaps we can diagnose what ails you.
  3. ??? Is this a challenge or a suggestion ??? If it's a suggestion it's in the wrong place. If it's a challenge, what do you expect people to do?
  4. Depending on the situation the exact opposite may be true. Increasing the AoA can increase the amount of lift prolonging the flight. Reducing the AoA reduces lift and causes you to drop faster to denser air. Hence more drag and a shorter flight. As long as you still pretty high up experiment and see what happens. Then adjust your behaviour to get the desired result. Quick-saving while still in orbit can give you a second chance. Don't hesitate to (ab)use it.
  5. As you said CoL is more or less stationary. In the past I used to mark it with a small part like an octo strut. CoM is also reasonably easy to figure out since the default camera focusses on it. I have no idea how to visualize the CoT. In-flight markers would be a great feature to have in the [Alt]+[F12] menu.
  6. How to land at KSC? Practice, practice, practice. Next time pay close attention WHERE you start your de-orbit burn and how low you you drop your Pe. Then land wherever you can. Lets say you've landed a quarter of Kerbin ahead of KSC. Next time perform the EXACT same de-orbit burn. But ... do it a third of Kerbin later than the first. Now you'll land a lot closer to KSC. Also pay close attention to where the orbital path intersects the surface. By increasing or decreasing your AoA you can extend or reduce your flightpath.
  7. The only thing longer that the runway is this same old endless discussion. There are dozens of this very same issue all over the forum. I have to agree with @Gaarst. The runway is not the problem. Your plane is. @Enceos You're forgetting improper wheel placement.
  8. Inspired by Scott Manley's Battlestar Galactica Colonial Viper last week I decided to 1-up him. I believe I succeeded. I looks the part and is fully SSTO capable with fuel to spare and 100% stock. It is even capable of 'landing' on a carrier.
  9. Last time he posted was about a month ago.
  10. You must be new in here, if you play KSP long enough your brain can render code into 3D model. Indeed. No pics, no clicks. But at least he's not trying to link directly from his desktop.
  11. MechJebs Differential throttle: Does it work? Has it ever worked? If yes, how does it work. If tried it in the past. I've tried it just now. It always responds with 'Differential throttle failed with current engine layout' not matter the engine layout. It ALWAYS fails. Am I doing something wrong or is Differential throttle simply an 'empty' module? Never mind. After some more experimenting it suddenly does work. Apparently I did indeed do something wrong although I am still not sure what.
  12. Yes. Ignore. What I am about to say is completely unethical but absolutely true. If you can't handle the truth sop reading now. You have been warned! For the last century the human race is no longer evolving. It has been devolving! When was the last time you saw a short sighted? Or an antelope with a bad knee? You haven't. In the wild genetic defects get weeded out and are not inherited by the next generation because the carrier never reaches sexual maturity. Humanity is 'correcting' these faults and allows them endure. This results in the human race getting ever weaker. In a few generations we will no longer be able to live, let alone survive, without our technology. P.S. To avoid derailing this thread more than it already has I will not reply.
  13. AND it's one of the very few mammals that is venomous.
  14. There is nothing 'organic' about a Cylon Basestar. Cylons are artificial and so are their ships.
  15. Homo Sapiens. Homo Sapiens is the only species that violates nearly all laws of biology. It actively destroys its own habitat and completely ignores Darwin's laws of evolution.
  16. From the FAQ: I know it has worked wonders for some. But as I already said from personal experience I know it's not guaranteed.
  17. Low is easy. Just hit a bump at speed, jump and hit all science at one with an action key. High is also very easy from a polar orbit.
  18. This is far from guaranteed. In the past when I tried this myself it did indeed reduced my memory footprint (albeit only very little). It also introduced all kinds of weird issues that made the game absolutely unplayable. So yes, you should try it. But keep in mind it is NOT the holy grail!
  19. You're simply running out of memory. A VERY common problem. And that's why it is the VERY FIRST item in the FAQ!
  20. That's exactly the same poor excuse that was used when this very same issue came up for the old vBulletin forum. People kept saying it could not be done despite other fora already using that very feature. It was just a matter of installing the appropriate plug-in. After a lot of lobbying the forum admins finally came about and it was installed. If vBulletin could do it it would surprise me if this piece of crap can not.
  21. Kerbal Camping Program Jeb took out his truck and invited Val for a road trip. The thermometer hinge worked like a charm but I had to resort to some dirty trickery to prevent the trailer from jumping off on rough terrain.
  22. A few options come to mind: As @Streetwind says; Launch in sections and assemble in orbit. Build in orbit with a mod like ExtraPlanetaryLaunchpads. Don't try to lift your entire Eve launcher. Make it lift itself! Use the engines and fuel! Then refuel in orbit. Strap your launch boosters to the side instead of the bottom. Only shield the most offending parts with fairings.
  23. Unlikely since he has made only three posts and has not visited the forum in two and a half years! Most likely he has not thought about this thread at all in the last four years.
