  1. After the success of my little Bell 47 I've started building bigger choppers and found the Beluga engine seriously lacking. The 'engine' fits nicely on a 2.5m or mk2 fuselage or tank. But anything that even remotely resembles a helicopter quickly outweighs the Beluga's lifting capabilities. The bare bone passenger chopper below doesn't even have fuel yet, the tanks are dry, and it's already seriously overweight. And the blades look too short. I would really like to see the the engine power increased to 100 and the blade diameter extended by about 50%. A larger tail rotor would be an added bonus. Using the Gemini is only a partial solution. The blades and housing don't fit the 2.5m/mk2 that well and it is WAAAAAAAY too powerful for a craft this size. Edit: I manually edited the Beluga to produce a max thrust of 100 and it makes it oodles more useful. But it remains small.
  2. Who else could I be talking about?
  3. No. You can get bucket loads of funds WITH labs! What I meant to say was the exact numbers on the stock MPL do not really matter if you're going to change them.
  4. I did the numbers from memory. It's very possible you are correct. But boosting those numbers still dramatically increase the MPL's effectiveness.
  5. The tread might have disappeared, the mod did not. At least provide him with a link. https://mods.curse.com/ksp-mods/kerbal/230087-tarsier-space-technology-continued
  6. You are correct it is possible to raise your Pe above the ground in atmospheric flight. It's hard but it is indeed possible. Maintaining such an orbit for a prolonged duration however is not. To maintain such an orbit you will need continuous thrust to fight off drag. Sooner or later you will run out of fuel. However there IS a tiny loophole in this endeavour. Craft on rails do not experience drag in KSP. And only on rails craft below 23km are deleted. If you manage to switch away from a craft with both Ap and Pe between 23 and 70km in theory it is possible for such a craft to 'orbit' indefinitely. No, Ravenpaw. This is NOT what you did! Do not try to claim this. If you actually did, you would have told it from the start.
  7. Yes, you can easily complete the tree without mobile labs. But why? Funds, that's why. To get the most out of your experiments you should do them multiple times. One set you take home, a second is transferred to an orbital lab and subsequent sets are transferred to labs in orbit around other bodies. This way the same experiment data can be vastly multiplied. And once the tech tree has been unlocked completely all this extra science can be converted into funds. To get the best out of a single lab you should always fill both seats with as experienced scientists as possible. Better a single star scientist as no scientist at all. And keep the data storage as full as possible. The more data is stored the higher the daily output. The MPL model has 6 seats. However the stock game only lets you place 2 Kerbals in it. The mod 6 Crew Science Lab lets you use the additional 4 seats. The stock MPL can also hold a maximum of 500 data and 500 science. You can increase those numbers by editing the game files. Increasing the data limit will not only increase the amount that can be converted into science. It will also increase the daily output since this is tied into the data amount. Increasing the science limit will increase the time it takes to fill, therefore giving you more time between transmissions.
  8. There are only two Mythbusters. And there are only three persons capable of succeeding them.
  9. Despite this mod having a few issues it is on the right track. last few days I have been having a lot of fun hopping around KSC in my little Bell 47 replica (the iconic Korean war chopper). With a top speed of just 60/ms it's not fast but it's stable and very manoeuvrable.
  10. OK, OK. You're right about that. There are indeed a few rare situations that can trigger a bug that explosively ejects you from the plains of reality.
  11. This is simply NOT possible in any way. It is MORE than ten times Kerbins escape velocity and close to half that of the sun. In a stock atmosphere this absolutely impossible no matter what engines you're using. Desperately repeating you did it over and over does not chance the fact that what you're saying IS NOT POSSIBLE !!! Please take it from us 'old guys'. We clearly have a lot more experience in KSP. P.S. Why do I get the feeling I am feeding a troll?
  12. Am I missing something? Where are seats #3 and #4?
  13. Try searching the interweb for the mod. You know the name. Google knows where to find it. If I can find it within less than a minute so can you.
  14. Same here. Outside VAB/SPH all windows work. (At least those that I tried.) Inside VAB/SPH only 'settings' and 'custom'.
  15. Neither the mk1 memorial nor KSC2 qualifies for third place for me. The very first egg I personally ever found was on Mun. My first rover on Mun landed just a few km from an egg purely by accident. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found those. They date from 2011. KSP v0.14.3
  16. As far as I can remember the ascent guidance is unlocked in 'Unmanned Tech'. Unmanned Tech is at tier 7 in the tree. If you only have tier 5 then it does not surprise me you do not have access to tier 7 tech.
  17. Despite your later work still being pretty neat the first two are still the best by far. At first you were spot on with lighting, contrast, colour, etc. But your latest work looks a bit 'off'.
  18. Exactly as I said; the second. He started talking about KSC2, now he's talking about the island runway.
  19. Build and test your craft in a separate sandbox. Then move it to your career. 1+1=2
  20. Give a man fire and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm the rest of his life.
  21. Bravo. You just found the second most in-your-face Easter egg. (*sarcasm mod off* I am surprised you haven't mentioned the first most in-your-face egg yet.) There are literally dozens more. And they are ALL well known and well documented.
  22. You're right. Apparently I missed that part. Yours is indeed the absolute minimum stock design able to meet the all requirements.
  23. You can go even lighter by loosing the battery.
  24. An OX-4L or OX-4W (1*6 and 2*3 respectively) weighs 0.0175. An OX-STAT weighs 0.005. Making three OX-STATs still slightly lighter than a single OX-4L/4W. Source: http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Parts#Generators
