Explore Duna contract not completing
Superfluous J replied to Bumfluffles's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I would not put money on it or anything but I don't recall the wording of any explore contracts saying "enter the atmosphere of..." a planet. Are you using any mods perchance? -
Poll: What's Wrong with Stock Science
Superfluous J replied to natsirt721's topic in KSP1 Discussion
That would be fine, and assuredly better than now. But this is a game about making rocket ships and sending them to different planets. Not right clicking tiny moving objects to click the correct button on their popup menus. -
Poll: What's Wrong with Stock Science
Superfluous J replied to natsirt721's topic in KSP1 Discussion
IMO the main problem with science is that you have to do it. You should just get it for taking the experiments to locations. I discovered this problem on my very first trip ever to Eeloo. I realized, after the flyby was well over, that I'd totally missed it because I was right clicking little doodads on my ship. -
Difference between "Recently Updated" and "Last Reply" sort options
Superfluous J replied to Gaarst's topic in Kerbal Network
I would assume "Last reply" and "Recently Updated" to be the same, unless maybe "Recently Updated" refreshes for edited posts or something. -
Complete graphical overhaul?
Superfluous J replied to SpaceCube2000's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
In KSP, the framerate has never bothered me except that one ship where I got about 3 fps. I noticed it. Of course. I just didn't mind because I wasn't trying to 360 no scope some noob. (did I say that right?) -
It depends on what you mean by "MechJeb Hate" Do people still hate on it? Yes. Is it a rampant thing that people leave in their signatures because they're so sick of spouting it every thread? No. Is it common to forbid it from challenges? Yes.

Great Shift - The Gram to Be Redefined
Superfluous J replied to XB-70A's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Finally. What a stupid way to define something so critical. -
"We" did, on this here forum. Or maybe it was the old forum before it transitioned to this one. No matter though, it did happen. However I really doubt it had anything to do wiht Squad's reasoning. I mean, if whining about things ever affected their decision making we'd have had dV in the game since .24 and Porkjet would be the only artist allowed to work on the game.

I'd guess 2.5 months, seeing as they said they were going for a release every 3 months and were planning on doing a post then. I don't know if it'll be a "devblog entry" so maybe you won't consider it valid. In that case, I'd guess they will never do it again.

IIRC 1.1 was steam-only, 1.2 was steam and store, and 1.3 onward did not do pre-releases. I don't think that "people whining" was why they stopped. "It was a huge pain and didn't actually help" had probably more to do with it.

Good Old Games. They used to take (as in buy or license. It was all legit) old abandoned games, slap an emulator around them, and sell them cheap. Then a bit over 5 years ago they started selling new games but using the same web-based Steam-like-but-not-a-resource-hog system to sell and patch games. I don't recall right now but I think they also require the games to be DRM free. I am trying hard to not inject opinion on this but suffice it to say they do some things well and others not so well.

Yeah it was 2^x seconds, where x is a number I'm not sure of that made the years big enough for most but easily reachable. I think 190 was around it. I'm not 100% sure what the limit is now but IIRC you can't reach it at full time warp in your lifetime.

I just got the most hilarious vision of the Steam user numbers for KSP dropping by half overnight.
-
IIRC the release that spent months in public beta had several patches shortly after launch, just like every version of KSP in recent memory.

Antennas on kerbal suits
Superfluous J replied to ocso639's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
They should do this or remove the transmit button from the reports when you're a Kerbal. That button implies that there is a way to make it possible to transmit. -
Random thought have you tried Kerbnet? Once you get the... Okto 2? You can see biomes and IIRC even get a biome map in map mode, though that last part may be a misremember on my part, or a mod, or an alt-f12 option.

Kerbal Space Program Update 1.5 Grand Discussion thread
Superfluous J replied to UomoCapra's topic in KSP1 Discussion
What trickery is this? My Steam KSP folder has these 2 EXEs: Directory of c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program 07/21/2018 03:03 AM 23,488,000 KSP_x64.exe 10/15/2018 05:54 PM 23,488,000 Launcher.exe I can see maybe if they changed Steam to run "Launcher.exe" or something (or for all I know Steam's been running Launcher.exe all this time) but when I manually run ksp_x64.exe, it runs version 1.5. And when it's running with the 1.5 version in the lower right corner, taskmgr says I'm running ksp_x64.exe So either 1.5 has been ready since July or ... ?- 388 replies

Yes, technically. So long as the satellite is over the same spot every 24 hours, it's synchronous. You can frequently get the same benefit from a semi-synchronous orbit with a 12 hour period as well. I guess in theory you could have satellites in orbits of 8, 6, 4, 3, or 2 hours as well. Can't have less than that because atmospheric drag

I thought it was derailed by everybody who's hyped about it going to play it.
