Modern Earth Versus The Tomorrow War Whitespikes
Superfluous J replied to Spacescifi's topic in The Lounge
Earth has been decimated by aliens that started appearing a time X. So we build a time machine that can reach a time before time X. Let's pull all the able-bodied fighters to THIS time to fight the aliens here! Not try to stop the invasion before it even starts! -
I did *that* in KSP many times as well

That's the problem of course I don't have the game. I want to know how much I can easily change with a couple simple to use utilities and a text editor. i.e., without needing to know how to write full-on Unity mods that hack code into programs not expecting it... BEFORE buying the game. I'm looking for information like "Yeah you just unpack the file with xyz-unpacker, and the tilt angle, rotation rate, orbital parameters, they're all there in zyx-planets.cfg as just numbers that you can change. Once you're done, re-package the files using xyz-repacker and run the game!" Or whatever

I've not played KSP2 so I must keep my opinions based on how I think it should work, not how it works. That said, I think rockets should bend/flex to reflect how well (or poorly) they are built. Which is how they bend/flex in KSP1.

It's pretty likely there was SOMETHING wrong with it. Likely that something was small (the font was weird, it was incorrect sometimes, it word wrapped in its box, who knows what) and so they disabled it to fix it later, and didn't have time by the release date to revisit it. Why? Because it wasn't a show-stopper bug. They had to fix all the show-stopper bugs first, so the game was launchable and playable. Even so, some players don't consider the game playable in its current state which tells me they JUST got the game launchable and playable. The TWR display was the least of their worries as they skidded, on fire, over the release deadline.

Why Would a Pilot Have Limited Control?
Superfluous J replied to luna_cat's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Was your control in fact limited, or was the tracking station just saying that? If it was limited, in what way was it limited? What weren't you able to do? -
Naw it's nice to have answers here if they're not already.

Yeah Steam will just update, and frequently you can go back multiple versions to stick with a version and not update immediately. From the website, I've no clue. I imagine you can update through the Launcher but I plan on never actually running the launcher so can't really speak on that.

Back in my day the biggest question was "so how do you socialize?" Uhhhh. By talking to people. (Note: I wasn't home schooled but had friends who were. They were pretty sociable actually, far better at it than I)

Bought the game - Instant Regret - i hope this is a joke
Superfluous J replied to Moons's topic in KSP2 Discussion
I'm not 100% sure it's possible for people to complain more about it than has already been complained. -
I don't see why. Earth isn't an Earrestrial planet and Humans don't live on a Hurrestrial planet. Why should Kerbals from Kerbin live on a Kerrestrial planet? They have the same names for things that we do for many things. For all we know their (K)latin name for Kerbin is Terra. Now, if instead of "Terrestrial" you wanted to say "Kerbin-like" I'm all for it. It may even be less confusing to someone who didn't know what "terrestrial" meant. Though it would seem a bit redundant on Kerbin.

You feel good about yourself. And others feel good about you. -
Weekly Challenge #3 - Land On Minmus
Superfluous J replied to Ghostii_Space's topic in Challenges & Mission Ideas
I was talking more about the fact that it was like driving on a planet made of ice. But yeah that does sound worse. -
I found a fix to the signature bold/italic problem. This is likely due to the fact that I made my signature before the forum software had themes, so the bold and italics set the color to Black, and not automatic. If anyone's signature has this problem (or you think it may have this problem) edit your signature, highlight the entire thing, and click the color button It looks like this: Av ) and select "Automatic". If you have different color text and want that to remain, you can instead highlight every bold/italic section and set just it to "Automatic" instead of Black, too.

Developer Insights #18 - Graphics of Early Access KSP2
Superfluous J replied to Intercept Games's topic in Dev Diaries
Probably wasn't ready and they didn't want to release KSP2 at the imposed deadline with just a dev console. [snip] -
I've never had an issue with that. I guess I've killed enough Kobolds to raise my potion skills (and similar) in other games that I just accept that progression is just kinda random and more based on what works than what is logical. Place one lab. Place one scientist. Time warp at max overnight. Unlock everything. It's the same argument against build times, and I can't think of a way around it. As I said, though, I can't think of a lot of things and I'm not a professional game developer so maybe they've got better ideas than I could drum up.

But that just BEGS the question, WHY was there no competition? I mean first of all there was. Simple Rockets 2 did a lot of stuff right - and a lot of stuff wrong - but they were a direct competitor to KSP. They lost out for some reason (I found the game boring and without style, and much preferred doing pretty much anything in KSP to SR2. But I can't speak for everyone only myself). But putting SR2 aside, why was there no competition? I can think of 2 reasons: 1) Making a game like KSP is hard. Like, really hard. 2) The market is too small to justify the cost. I don't know which of those is the reason no one's ever done it. I expect it's a bit of both. But "KSP (1) sux" is blatantly untrue because, compared to the other similar games out there (SR2 and now KSP2), KSP1 is superior in many ways to them. You can't be the absolute best in your (albeit limited) field and "sux." If you absolutely hate the best example of something in a field, what "sux" is the field itself. In short: Making games like KSP sux.

Weekly Challenge #3 - Land On Minmus
Superfluous J replied to Ghostii_Space's topic in Challenges & Mission Ideas
I've not played KSP2 yet but is driving rovers on the surface of Minmus in KSP2 anything like it is in KSP1? -

It's happened to me twice, once on my Xbox though I can't recall the game. Dragon Age? Maybe? I brought my Xbox with me specifically to play whatever game it was, and had no internet. The second time was Hitman. I bought the whole package on Steam earlier this year and played though the tutorial (It was fun) and started the first real map. I quit playing for a while and when I came back the server was offline so I literally could not play. Some kind souls created a mod that allows you to play even when offline, but I decided I'd rather the Hitman people not get my money so I returned the game to Steam.
