  1. That orbit is perfectly fine if it's tilted. Granted that's an unnecessary complication to add in a tutorial such as this, but it remains I could set KSP map mode in such a way that my orbit looked exactly like this on the screen. (watches the video, something I'd not gotten around to yet) I rescind my above comment. That was a still from a video where the rocket is raising it's Pe to match its Ap, after launching on the equator eastward. So yes it's technically incorrect. As it's a tiny portion of that part of the video and not really all that noticeable (I knew it was there and it went by so fast I didn't actually notice it), I have severe doubts about its chances of harming fledgling kerbonauts' understanding of orbital mechanics.
  2. For clarity, I am not dead nor am I the Cleveland Guardians drummer. I did meet him though and he was a nice guy. Bought his own season tickets. The only thing the franchise did for him was store his drum.
  3. The hard part for me when I was doing to do it with some planet pack (I don't recall which) was that this challenge worked with the default game balance. I couldn't see a way to guarantee that it would be doable with any given planet pack, or that another planet pack wouldn't be so ridiculously easy as to be unfun. The challenge itself is basically repeating the same thing multiple times. It doesn't get old because you're constantly getting new parts from science unlocks and all the stock planet systems are different enough to pose unique challenges. Well, except Moho/Dres/Eeloo but hey nobody's perfect
  4. While not technically allowed, I wholeheartedly support you doing one. There's even a place for you on the winner's board, down at the bottom in the Rogue's Gallery.
  5. We covered that 3 years ago. When that post was made.
  6. I can't speak for everybody, but I personally hate when the only interaction between me and other players of a game is anything other than a privately run forum. All the games I play, only one still does it and that game is KSP. If this is the first step to closing these forums I'll likely stop participating in the community, which would make me pretty sad. Why not just go to Discord if the forum shuts down or becomes a shell of its former self? Because Discord is a CHAT ROOM. For CHATTING. It's not fundamentally built from the ground up for documenting, storing, searching for, and discussing content. (I know Discord has forum-like features. Let me know when they grant the above and I'll change my mind)
  7. That reminds me of one of my favorite quotes, though I don't know who said it. "Any sufficiently mundane magic is indistinguishable from technology."
  8. What is the "ksp mods file"? Do you use CKAN (not required I'm just asking for information) Have you loaded other mods successfully? Where EXACTLY did you put the fiile(s)? And finally, make sure you read this post. Help us help you!
  9. So what we're saying is the KSP 2 Discord launch is about as successful as any other launch we do in KSP.
  10. When people tell you a movie is not just fantastic for its genre but fantastic in general, and you watch it and feel it's total, utter unwatchable garbage, you don't get frustrated? You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din!
  11. Very awesome. I also started playing KSP in 2012. Today I'm... actually I'm in the same job I was in in 2012. But hey good for you
  12. On that last screen shot, I thought Val (or whomever that is) was flipping off the camera for a second. *raises hand*
  13. I don't know Sadly I've not actually played at all in months and even when I posted that (exactly 2 years ago wow time flies)I wasn't playing much. All I can tell you from looking through my configs is that I changed the weight limit (but not the range) with this: @PHYSICSGLOBALS { %constructionWeightLimit = 50000 } I expect I took out the range stuff because it wasn't working but I don't know what it used to be.
  14. Haha and he didn't even have ANY thrust! Granted that was pre-1.0 when the atmosphere was ... let's just say even less realistic than it is now.
  15. The idea that something not shaped like a plane cannot fly is a very odd one to have in a game where we make long pointy tubes with no wings fly. EVERYTHING will fly if you put enough thrust behind it in the right place.
  16. I used to get frustrated about it, now I just accept they don't care if I see their stuff, so I'll just not bother looking for it.
  17. Wow that's a lot of mods. I think it'll be hard for anybody to make a guess. In your ksp.log I'm seeing some Null Reference Exceptions and the last one is for a mod you don't seem to have on your list named KspCraftOrganizer. Maybe - MAYBE - that's the one causing the problem. You also have a mod named ManeuverAutopilot. I don't know anything about it but maybe it disables input when there's a maneuver node, so it can autopilot you? No clue. Neither of those mods did you list above, so I expect you may be running a lot of mods you don't know you're running.
  18. Been playing a lot of Saints Row 2 this month, and pretty much every car I jack, the first thing I do is change the radio to the 80s station. So, I've got about 5 songs stuck in my head on a loop and this is the current one.
  19. I'm not 100% sure you are given the tools to do that. Does the game tell you over where on Duna you have to put the Stationary satellite, BEFORE you accept the contract? I don't know for sure but I don't think so. Sure, you could just never take a Stationary contract at Duna, in case the location was under Ike.
  20. Put it in an orbit you like and then use the cheats menu to complete the contract, getting the money and rep you deserve. Not your fault the game didn't tell you the contract was literally impossible to complete.
  21. I trust that even though I cannot speak 30 languages, I'm intelligent enough to recognize when the characters are unable to understand each other when the time comes.
  22. I'm surprised I never commented on this thread yet. First off, it's hard to think of what I want to mod into a game whose features are unknown. I mean, how do I know what I want to change when I don't even know what's there? One of the few things I know won't be in the game is "jump drives" to teleport ships from one system to another. I think after a few interstellar trips I'd probably have no issue installing one of those, especially if they had interesting limits (like maybe ships maintain velocity so you may be going crazy fast when you arrive, or having to construct and reach "jump gates" or something). And no I don't care if it's realistic or not. I would do it because it'd be interesting and fun.
