Love it. LOVE. IT. Well done on all fronts! And now Eeloo's transfer window is even closer!

I wonder if people had such a hard time accepting that the Sun and Moon were no longer planets.

If you're complaining about kerbal space program forums..

Yeah but back then (well, 2 years later) we could leave little comments with our "like"s. I still miss that sometimes. -
Mod to make upgrading Facilities more gradual
Superfluous J replied to MCWither_Storm's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I"m not seeing that. Each building's page is different. FWIW I did this myself years ago with a similar config (though I had 9 levels, it was otherwise very similar to Komplexity) and I found it didn't add much more than clicking the buildings more to upgrade them. You still want specific things at specific times and if you need the building to be level 4 to do that specific thing, you're going to upgrade it right to level 4 and not really care about levels 2 and 3. -
That is 100% fine. I can pick nits with the best of them, but I wouldn't even have noticed that had you not mentioned it, and that sort of oversight is expected when redoing a mission over and over and over... If all this challenge does is prove to you you don't need MechJeb, I'll consider it a personal victory Did I mention (yet this week) that things like this are EXACTLY what this challenge is for? Seriously, thanks for doing this and thanks for sharing your stories and thanks for sticking it out. And just remember, in the missions ahead (of which you only have 4 left!) when all seems impossible, remember what you learned here: YOU CAN DO IT.

And a well done run it was! Welcome to the finish line

What is your reasoning for not doing at least Eeloo first? Both Eeloo and Moho - for this challenge - are more straightforward than Duna/Ike as you only have 1 world to go to and there is no atmosphere. If you can get to Duna with plenty of fuel to get home, you should also be able to get to Eeloo. All the science from that might help you make a Duna lander. If not, there's always Moho. Moho is a bear but really it's just "Dres only more." You've done Dres. You can do Moho. And Eeloo is basically Dres with more time warping.

Great recaps of both Eeloo and Jool. I somehow missed that you did Eve so I've updated the participants list to show that you only have Dunpollo left. Exciting!

Higher warp speed, but carefully.
Superfluous J replied to 18Watt's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Well as for removing height limits, I have no idea. I *thought* they actaully did that and only set periapsis limits but maybe I'm misremembering. I don't actually play anymore As for giving you a higher number... yeah they should do that for sure. Though as you say they won't. -

Self-promotion for WarpEverywhere (which still works in 1.12 I just haven't bothered updating anything) -
Duna is the easiest interplanetary target there is. The It's like 200 more m/s dV to get there than to get to Mun, and because you don't have to slow down (you can aerobrake all the way to the surface) most Mun land-and-return ships can ALSO land and return from Duna. The problem with that in this challenge of course is you can't just aerobrake from interplanetary down to the surface, what with docking ports unlocked Also, you gotta also go to Ike. Dunno about any specific engines, but Duna is a much easier target than ANYTHING, including Eeloo. The only requirement is that - around each body - you undock, land, and redock. You could land the same lander at Duna that you do at Ike. You can use the Duna lander as the "orbiter" for Ike and the Ike lander as the "orbiter" for Duna. You can have one mothership that has a Duna lander and an Ike lander. Whatever you choose. I think the easiest though is to use one lander for both Duna and Ike, maybe throwing away all the parachutes after the Duna landing. Or keeping them and using them at Kerbin as well (note, requires an engineer to repack) You don't need them, no. But it does make it easier if only because it forces your ship to aim engines-down when it may normally be affected by the atmosphere to flip over. Note, you don't NEED parachutes anywhere. SpaceX doesn't use parachutes on its boosters in the real world.

I am and I do. I still put a little ledge on ladders when I'm planning on extended EVA piggyback rides.

Well within both the letter AND spirit of the rules. Way to stretch your advantage for maximum benefit. Sorry I misspoke. THIS is how you stretch your advantage for maximum benefit! It's not that bad. You only get upper atmosphere and flying over, and you can get "upper atmosphere" from 69,999 meters up which is basically still in space. you can get "flying over" by jumping. No need to risk anything. And I hope he had a deck of cards with him. On to Munpollo... Oh boy here we go again! They always put extra ones on just in case. I mean, probably. I've heard others refer to this as "grinding" like in Skateboarding, where you skid along haphazardly on the trucks and not your wheels. I love doing it as well. Try it on Dres some day through the canyon. ...by the end of Minpollo. ...or not Minpollo. With your tech tree I think you could do any of the bodies. I did Jool and Eve with full tech trees but I don't recall needing any of the super high-end items. I think the biggest need was Vectors for Eve ascent and I don't think they're top-tier. (I'm out of time now but will get to Dres later tonight. I've given you credit for it in advance because it's pretty obvious you have the ability and understanding of the challenge rules)

This all but literally warms my heart. YOU are the exact player this challenge was designed for. YAY! Huh. This was not a restriction when I created this challenge years ago. However, you could have, after docking, just done an EVA and transferred the Kerbal "the hard way" to the main ship. Okay you get a pass. This time Because dV needs are completely independent of weight/mass. Most tiny probes have more dV than huge launchers' first stages, for example. I'm not sure why the numbers are different but it has nothing to do with the ship's mass See? All you needed was a taste of success to discover that it suits you Great writeup! It was fun to go along with you on your first ever successful interplanetary mission. Can't wait to see the rest.

Wait like 10 minutes between replies. You may be able to get someone to reply after you over and over, and then later delete their replies too. I've never tried it but it seems like it'd work.
-
You may be the first to unlock docking ports before doing the first launch. I didn't even know that was possible. Just to be sure you know, you don't need to do the docking part on Kerpollo as it doesn't fit into the other mission goals. Also welcome to the challenge! I'm on vacation right now so won't update the page for a few days.

It was. When they used the voice to command people, I almost wanted to obey. -
The Upcoming Movies (and Movie Trailers) MegaThread!

I saw Dune on Friday in an IMAX theater and I don't think I've ever seen a movie better suited to that experience. From my faded memories of the book, this is a pretty faithful adaptation so far. -
I'm enjoying it too but if someone told you they were at the episode that ended where the squad from the barbarian empire was about to attack the city for the first time, you'd have like 3 guesses (out of 7 episodes so far). The most recent episode was good though. Plot actually happened

Would you have this concern while driving to a campsite? I never have.
