No problem take your time, I'm not going anywhere Well actually I am, I'm taking a vacation this week and while I'll have internet access, I may be late on any replies. My advice is, if you're going to Moho (or even Dres, the easiest one-world option) is to pick up docking ports. Rendezvous and docking is FAR easier than landing on Moho with a craft that can get back to Kerbin. Not to mention launching from Kerbin with a craft that can get to, land on, and return from Moho.

The Upcoming Movies (and Movie Trailers) MegaThread!
Superfluous J replied to StrandedonEarth's topic in The Lounge
I don't really remember that one, but because I'm too old, not too young... lol... Yeah in 2000-2001 I was busy fixing up my first house. My childhood was full of Star Blazers and the Great Space Coaster. -
Well done! I too like that shot of re-entry from the front. This is perfectly okay in the rules, just make sure you do everything in one launch. No capturing the asteroid in Drespollo, and then fueling with it in Mohollo. Speaking of that, Dres is the lowest dV single-world mission you have left so if you're looking for somewhere to go to get more science before you unlock docking ports, that'd be my choice. Moho takes a LOT of dV and better engine/tank options (not to mention a slimmed down lander that doesn't need to carry the fuel to go home) may become a must.

Maybe I should crosspost this to the unpopular opinion thread. I think Gallagher was hysterically funny right up to the point where he brought out the hammer. The only thing good about it was that I knew at that point in the show I could turn it off knowing I didn't miss anything good.

Yes. There are 9 logical "areas" if you start on Kerbin: Kerbin, because you're there. Mun, because it orbits Kerbin Minmus, becasue it orbits Kerbin too. Moho, because it orbits the Sun. Eve, because it orbits the sun. And while you're there, get Gilly too. Duna, because it orbits the sun. And while you're there, get Ike too. Dres, because it orbits the Sun. Eeloo, because it orbits the Sun. Jool, and because you can't land there just do a Jool 5, complete with the added restrictions. Any variation from this does not complete the Kerpollo challenge. I'm not saying it's not worthy of accolades, just that it's in a different category. If anything, I'd say it puts your idea in a higher tier than Kerpollo and your mission set should be considered a subcategory of a Grand Tour. In fact, if you're planning on any multi-planet mission you should instead just suck it up and go for a full fledged Grand Tour. Yes, if this is the very first launch of your career. it would be a perfectly viable "Kerpollo" launch, as you can go into any SOI you want so long as you only land on Kerbin during that mission. No. That's not allowed in the challenge. One of the central pillar ideas of Kerpollo (and I dare say Kerbal Space Program) is: YES YOU CAN.

How will the nav ball work with axial tilt?
Superfluous J replied to t_v's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
I can only assume so, otherwise it wouldn't make sense. If North on the navball is not matched with North in your current sphere of influence, it may as well not show it. -

What have you been playing recently? (Other than KSP)
Superfluous J replied to a topic in The Lounge
I don't have an EA account but I just checked Steam and the game is $10 American (75% off, usually $40). The game with DLC and some bundle (how is that different from DLC?) is $21.43, 76% off the roughly $90. AAA games usually run $60 here, which is also about what my wife and I pay for dinner out and drinks. $60 is about 4 hours' work at McDonald's going by their "$15/hour!" signs I see when I drive by. How much more DLC does the EA store have than Steam? Like 27 billion? I own that. Never got into it after multiple attempts to. Lately I'm still playing Valheim, but also started a gem-matching steampunk mech rougelike (I think they googled "things Superfluous J likes" when designing this game) named Ironcast. It's not perfect but it's pretty good. Image in spoiler because it's kinda big. -

Superfluous J replied to Spacescifi's topic in The Lounge
If you don't like or do or use something that everybody else likes or does or uses, don't try to make yourself normal by partaking. I've not had a dining room table for so long when I redid my kitchen I just made the dining room part of it. I realized one day that I never used this thing that seemingly everybody else in the world finds essential, so I sold it and never missed it. If you and your chosen life partner fight over sheets in your sleep, get a few sets of twin sheets and blankets and then you don't have to share! That was life changing, that discovery. -
What/who introduced you into Ksp?
Superfluous J replied to Aerodynamic Kerbal's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I was bored one day and remembered this guy who was trying to walk to the Far Lands in Minecraft . I wondered if he was still doing it, so I searched for him on YouTube. I discovered that his name was KurtJMac. Not only was he still going to the Far Lands (and still is!), but he had just started playing this game about running a space program. I downloaded the demo that very day and within a weekend landed on Mun and bought the game. -
It's not a laser. It's a blaster. It shoots blaster bolts. Blaster bolts are made of plotonium, which causes them to act in whatever way the plot requires them to act.

I went with "other." I use the Forums. From the forums, go to wherever the mod author tells me to go, be it github, Spacedock, Curseforge, or wherever.

U.S. Space Force Discussion Thread

It's almost as if TV shows pattern their military uniforms to look like real life military uniforms. -
What's the dumbest thing you did that actually worked?

Easiest question to answer in the world for me. This. -
Should ion engines be nerfed?
Superfluous J replied to mcwaffles2003's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
If they were removed entirely, I'd probably not notice until someone pointed it out. -
I see absolutely no reason to think any of those will be missing from KSP2. Seems you're reading more into that statement than was intended.

And I'll point out that "most users" doesn't necessarily have anything to do with buying ksp1. There will be some people who get the game for free because they're big streamers, or get a code from a big streamer, or know Nate and ask him nicely or who knows what.

Am I the only one who is annoyed by the "new" forums update?
Superfluous J replied to ShuttlePilot's topic in The Lounge
The connection is that they're both in the single update that is available and you choose to get both or neither. -

Superfluous J replied to a topic in The Lounge
My wife and I have been tearing it up in Valheim. Good base building game that has one thing I really wish was in KSP: If you clip parts in the design phase, they ARE CONNECTED. PERIOD. I've also had Soda Dungeon 2 idling for about 2 months. I don't generally like idle games but this one is so good. And it's a F2P that is actually F to P. -

Sorry I should have been more clear. You can't "update security" with forum software. You can with Linux because Linux is written to do that. Forum software is not and I doubt it ever will be.
