KSP2 Hype Train Thread

Yeah, Polar orbits are tricky. You have to burn retrograde for most of your launch.

I think you used the wrong word here. Burning retrograde for most your launch would definitely not achieve orbit.

I assume you mean retrograde with respect to the planets rotation?

I did mean retrograde in relation to the planet's rotation. As in retrograde orbit. So, not really the wrong word, just didn't add another key word.

Love the tutorial, great visual style and great voice! Always remember that this kids stuff is the price we have to pay to build the future on a solid KSP2 foundation! We'll make the game our own in due time. ;)

Also, LIFE SUPPORT CONFIRMED!

Life support is NOT confirmed.

Snacks have always been a running gag for KSP.

Also, the tutorials aren't just for kids. They're for adults too. Adults have trouble understanding key aspects too you know. And it's mostly adults that play the game, with the second age group being teenagers, who some of might also have a hard time learning KSP.

Indeed.  The Kerbal eating pizza and the soft drink can floating around the cabin I think have disproved the Kerbal photosynthesis theory.  Seriously, though, once I’d reminded myself that KSP’s audience includes a lot of kids, I got over my knee-jerk reaction to the voice pretty quick.  The tutorials are going to do their job, I think; help players up the learning curve without having to walk uphill both ways through the snow to Scott Manley’s channel like we did.

I can’t help but think, though, that Joel Kinnaman, Krys Marshall, and Michael Dorman would be perfect voice actors for the base building tutorial…

I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but is this the first time we've seen a pending rating? In that video's case, PEGI 3. Great news for curious children! Horrible news for fans who wanted extremely graphic gore.

Also, "Missing the Ground" is surely a Hitchhiker's Guide reference, right?

I think you're right, I don't think any other video has the "Rating pending" logo.

I actually liked the voice, is a nice change of pace and really fits the lightheartedness of KSP

Some IVAs have "Snacks" written on some drawers right?

I agree that nothing is confirmed.

And I'm 99% sure that this is me overthinking stuff.

But.

I wouldn't put a running gag for veterans of the first game into a tutorial for new players, new players that are surely not going to know it's a gag.

If it is a gag (and most likely it is) some people will come here asking how to add snacks when the game launches.

If LS will become a thing it will be mentioned in "build your first rocket tutorial". Just like they will tell you that you need batteries, solar panels etc.

Yep.

$49.99 USD at launch of EA. At 1.0 the price will increase too [Information missing]

Snacks are an inside joke and continuous gag. It makes sense to put them into the tutorials to let new people in on the joke. And I don't think only new players will watch the tutorials. I guarantee that a lot of vets of KSP 1 will too. So, including running gags is good.

Oh I will watch them for sure.

Not necessarily, Kerbals could use a combination of photosynthesis and snacks to survive with the former being as sort of backup if there isn't any food. Loving the tutorials, I wonder just how many subjects they'll cover by 1.0.

Didn't they say they want all the basic needed tutorials to come with EA so they can use the feedback for the tutorials for interstellar/colonies etc? So I'd assume every big update comes with the acoording tutorial, thus at 1.0 I'd say we have all of them

That is SO crispy. That type of payload bay, the sounds, the animations... all of that is fantastic. Very hype.

Don't know why, but I'm really impressed with this layout for a delivery system. No need for disposable fairings any more? Ooo... I'm excited for that prospect.
