I also hope that many animals find homes, especially in the wake of the post-pandemic mass giveaways/abandonment of pets. Nuke Posted December 5, 2023 Share Posted December 5, 2023 (edited) i wish common sense would sometimes intersect with the holiday spirit. the holidays are not only depressing but also physically demanding. ive been practically laid up a for a week after carrying a load of packages home from the post office so a senior citizen can play with dolls. there will also be public events that i dont want to go to, excessive feasting that my system can no longer handle. meanwhile people calling me scroodge and grinch because im too exhausted to festivize. less is more people. I know my friends father will give me something, some soda or some cookies, maybe both, but that for this does not count. What I would love, is for someone near me to invite me for a meal or something. I know it sounds simple, but, this is as I write, my first christmas since my heart began beating while I was nothing more than a fetus back in 1981 where my mother <the woman who adopted and raised me> is not alive. I miss her more than I can say. Made all the worse yesterday when my dad sent me a text of a wreath my 2nd cousin placed on my mothers grave between her and her brother, next to her parents. I told my dad that the hurt has not stopped since her death. his reply? "Ok." I am alone. Truly alone. I hate it. I just wish that I wasnt. Yea, I have you guys, and thats awesome, but, I am starved for touch, love and companionship and its killing me. Just once I want what I cannot have. Someone to spend my time with. Someone to remember I exist, that I have feelings, that I am hurting. I wont get that come Christmas. That saddens me. I hope that you all waited until I edited the post to open this. If you didnt, I am sorry if this bummed you out pre-christmas, or heck even post christmas if you waited. This year might be the last we have with one of our cats; Mischa, who is just shy of 11 and whom we've had since she was 9 weeks old, was diagnosed with lung cancer 2 weeks ago. And while she is holding her own, we know that our time with her is limited. So we just want her to be happy and comfortable and know she's loved. That's it.
