Wondering if someone can tell me how to link a crash folder for y'all to read through so I can figure out why my game data folder keeps crashing KSP. I don't see an option in the to link files in the post editor.

I was looking at body data, and saw that Ceti's orbital and rotational periods are identical, 23.15 days. I'm no astronomatician, but wouldn't that be exceedingly unlikely? I'd think rotation would be a factor of mass/density of the body's accretion disk + effects of any major collisions, while orbital period is mostly dumb luck of where in the star's accretion disk is the gravitational gradient that triggers a body to start forming.

Also, 24 day nights? There goes my plans for Ceti's Palace Casino, at a spot well outside any troubling legal jurisdictions. I was even going to have Eval Gaelan jump 1/2 of the planet's circumference, riding a Cricket SRB with a command seat strapped on top. Not to mention the monkey knife fights and reproducing NFL games with implied spoken consent. That's the National Frungy League of course, the sport of kings. But seriously, even illegal-gambling monkey knife-fight watching criminalish customers need more sun than THAT.

@vossiewulf Tidal locking and energy exchange is some fascinating stuff tho. Even right now, the moon is drifting away a couple of centimeters (a year? A century), gaining orbital energy from Earth while slowing down Earth’s rotation. In a couple billion years, a day here will be 36 hours and the moon will eventually wander off into interplanetary space. 

Over at Neptune, it’s the opposite. Its big moon Triton orbits retrorade, so it’s slowly drifting closer and will eventually be pulled apart by Neptune’s gravity and probably form a ring like Saturn’s... at least for a little while... before it’s all sucked in. 

And I’m sure @OhioBob will be along shortly to correct everything I just got wrong. :sticktongue:

It's actually far more rare to find a moon that's not tidally locked.  It's also very common for planets near to their stars to be tidally locked.  It was believed for a long time that Mercury was tidally locked to the Sun.  It wasn't until better observations were obtained that is was discovered Mercury is actually in a 3:2 spin-orbit resonance (which is also true of Icarus in GPP).

That's essentially what a Rapier is. It's based on this which uses compressed air as oxidizer while in atmo:

I guess it is. The air compressor part I hacked together turns the stock Rapier into a closer match to the real world Sabre.

Last night I modified the part to make 12 OX per 60 Intake Air, and without additional oxidizer tanks was able to extend the service ceiling just beyond 20 km and speed just beyond Mach 10. (!!!) Granted this was on Tellumo, I have Ferram Aerospace Research installed, and I had part heating turned off. The thing would have melted otherwise, and I could have made use of the active cooling mod. This part would make the Rapier so overpowered back at Gael or Kerbin.

That’s impossible lol. The stock planets are deleted before the game even starts with GPP installed. I think you are confusing OPM with stock.

Indeed... You are absolutely right.

Re-checked the installation and saw that OPM was checked as default when installing via CKAN.

Cool to have a binary star with planets around to explore anyways :D

@kraden It never occurred to me that that part of the SABRE was the jet engine. :o Some of its other great features I also didn't know yet.

. @Gordon Fecyk Would that heat exceed 3400K? The toughest parts I've ever seen in any mod (or in stock: the fairing and heatshields) have ~3400K tolerance. Whatever value you choose for the EC cost for generating Oxidizer in-flight, I'm sure it doesn't need to be much, maybe 9 EC/s per second at most, in anticipation of our fellow engineers who will want to build planes with many RAPIERS and great payloads. Impose the need for a Fuel Cell Array for every pair of compressors.

This way Kerbals on Tellumo will undergo a spezified tectree and invent air-augmented engines way earlier in the carier. Air as propellant for nuclear engines would be a way to save on mass in thick atmosphere layers maybe too? A nuclearpowered airplane heaves an air-augmented booster supported space stage to low density elevations and there is the main place to go up and get the horizontal speed for cirsularisation for orbit.

On Tellumo you have to work long with Probes not for dangers of manned flight but for mass purposes.

4cm per annum. Interesting theorie for this time is, as it will become immenent for Moon to escape, the Sun will be a red giant and the contact with stratosphere of the sun will rip the moon appart. Earth will gain a ring for some time before the remains of the moon will fall down. On other hand for same time period there is a 1% chance the Earth will be hit by Mercur draged from Jupiter out of System (Venus by the way is a Candidate to play part in this pachinko play)

Hahaha of course after I was boasting about no issues with 8GB RAM. I find that hugely odd since I hadn't changed anything about what was installed. Any tips for rectifying the issue beyond buying another stick of RAM (it's otw), dialling back settings, or uninstalling demanding mods (I think the stock part revamp is the primary resource drain on my system as that takes a good while to load up)?

As play time increases, so will your ram usage. Doesn't really matter what mods you have.  

A career with 3 hours of play time will use less ram than a career with 30 hours of play time and so on and so forth.

Fair enough. I understand that as it's got more to load and all. Welp thanks for the help and spending the time with a novice such as myself@Galileo . I guess I'll have to wait for the new stick to arrive. 

 

If I might make this comment - when I ran GPP with the mod list I have and task manager open, it shows the RAM usage in the mid 70s while the GPU spikes from 0 to 100 (real quick) and then it seems like the system backs up and crashes. Would it be wrong to theorize that my older GPU simply can't take the work load and that's where the issue is originating? If so would simply adding a new stick of RAM even sort the problem then?
