IMO, the new looks better than the old. The old one is rather low-res, without much detail. The new one is much more detailed - you can even see the corrugated metal surface, just like the real Mercury capsule.

@Tornado77 That’s not really an Easter egg. In the process of revamping parts, they’ve usually created a new part with the new textures, and hid the old one. There are a couple of ways to get the old parts back, and you’ve found one. The old parts are still in the game to ensure backward compatibility with people’s save games - which might still have old-style parts in flight.

I don’t know, we have no way of knowing until SQUAD makes an announcement. I hope it’ll be something that obiviates one of my mods, like the main features of 1.6 and 1.7 did, and works well.

Congrats on release of 2.0.0, @AlphaMensae! I’ve been considering downloading this mod for a while, and all of this brand spanking new stuff may have swayed me in its direction! A quick question though, are the Apollo/Gemini/Soyuz pads only compatible with BDB/Tantares parts or will they work with equivalent parts from Making History as well?

totm nov 2023 SpaceX Discussion Thread
RealKerbal3x replied to Skylon's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Ah yeah, I failed to factor in that the COM is near the base of Super Heavy because of the mass of all of the engines. And I’ve got another question...will it ever be necessary for Super Heavy to land at sea? All of the animations we’ve got so far show it doing an RTLS. -

Won’t large fins near Super Heavy’s base create issues with the location of the centre of pressure? On a returning F9 booster, the COP is near the top because of the drag of the grid fins. This keeps it going engines-first. With the Super Heavy, it’ll have four grid fins near the top, but also three big fins near the base of the booster. As far as I can see, the fins will cause the COP to move somewhere closer to the base of the booster, causing its stable descent orientation to be different. Can someone more knowledgable please explain how this will work to me? -
Scifi space resources... what are they good for?
RealKerbal3x replied to Spacescifi's topic in Science & Spaceflight
How exactly would you build an antimatter converter? In science fiction, they do it by 'reversing the polarity' or other technobabble, but how could it be done IRL? -
Hmm, yeah, I have no idea. Let's summon @Angel-125 and see what he makes of this.

Hmm, I'm not sure. I was going to say something about Bob being a lower level than the other two, but from your screenshot it looks like you're playing sandbox rather than career. So I'm as stumped as you

He'll fix it in a quarter of the time he estimated it'd take.

Coolest Thing You've Done in KSP?
RealKerbal3x replied to Johnster_Space_Program's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Well, I'm currently in the midst of flying an airship around Kerbin, which I'd say is pretty cool.- 32 replies

Problem is, I’m playing on a laptop, which means that I can’t really add any more RAM, or replace it for that matter. It’s my worst enemy when it comes to my mod obsession
-
The fact that there are so many awesome mods out there that I want to download, but my RAM is already full to the brim with stuff that I rarely use but just can’t bear to get rid of

@The Doodling Astronaut The KSP Wiki entry for each celestial body should give you the information you need: https://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Category:Celestials Also, does your text need to be so huge? Maybe just keep it at the default - I doubt anybody will have problems reading it at that size.

Banned because my avatar is actually crawling, and I have just edited my location to reflect that.

Do You Prefer Rockets or Planes More In KSP?
RealKerbal3x replied to Johnster_Space_Program's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I'm a rocket guy. I do fly planes now and then, but I find that a common garden rocket is a lot less hassle to fly to orbit than an SSTO spaceplane - you don't have to worry about lift-to-drag ratios or fuel fractions - and a rocket quickly slapped together is more likely to fly than an aircraft built in a similar fashion.
