[Minimum KSP version - 1.11] Kerbal Attachment System (KAS) v1.12
RealKerbal3x replied to IgorZ's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
It already works nicely in 1.7.3. -
I spent this morning working on a replica of SpaceX's Starship Mk1, examples of which are currently under construction in Texas and Florida. I even replicated the actuating fins utilising Breaking Ground hinges, which worked nicely until... Eventually, however, I decided to replace the small hinges I had been using with the huge alligator hinges, and the flaperons' kraken tendencies disappeared.

Huh? What do you mean?

Hullo, @PulsarPixie!

Thread to discuss positive things in a general manner

My new hard drive arrived yesterday. It's the entry-level Samsung 870 SSD, so not computer-boots-in-three-seconds fast, but fast enough for my purposes. I migrated my data (Samsung's data migration software works wonders) and installed the drive yesterday evening - and again I must sing the praises of Lenovo for making most of the main components of my trusty old Thinkpad so accessible. The hard drive was just behind a panel on the side of the laptop. It may not be the fastest SSD you can buy, but OH MY GOODNESS is it an improvement over the clunky old mechanical drive! - The OS boots in 15 seconds, which is much better than the minute it used to take. - Google Chrome loads almost instantly (I had to wait some time for it to display more than a white screen before) - My modded KSP install takes 6 minutes to load (previously 15-20 mins), a stripped-back install 4 minutes, and a stock install in about a minute and a half. - Scene changes are lightning fast, and FPS in all situations seems to have improved noticeably. My computer used to be depressingly slow. Then I installed an SSD. Now I laugh at HDDs and their slow and sad ways! -
I had always assumed that the word ‘lithobraking’ implied a high speed impact but it appears to just be ‘deceleration of a falling object due to impact with the ground’. This means that an impact of any speed could be counted as lithobraking, so I guess you’re right
-
Well, fair enough. But if you touch the ground with a velocity of 0.1 m/s, I don’t think that’s enough to constitute ‘lithobraking’.
-
Not necessarily. If you control throttle with enough precision, you can come to a stop above the ground (otherwise known as a hover).

Unexplained gel, AKA Mystery Goo, discovered on Moon
RealKerbal3x replied to Superfluous J's topic in Science & Spaceflight
The goo doesn’t jiggle and wobble as the craft flies. -

I found this on Google: Of course, this assumes that Starship 2.0 keeps the same height to diameter ratio, which is unlikely, but it's kind of cool to see that an 18m diameter rocket is almost in league size-wise with the Enterprise -
Nice job on the ship and drydock

[Minimum KSP version - 1.12] Kerbal Inventory System (KIS) v1.29
RealKerbal3x replied to IgorZ's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Why not? The KSP.log doesn’t show any information about your system apart from the OS, IIRC. You’ll be fine. -
The author of this mod last visited the forums in 2011, so it’s unlikely he’ll come back to the forums to revive this mod anytime soon. Besides, it’s basically unnecessary now because several radial parachutes have been added to the stock game since it was made.

Looks like we found the solution to 42

What lore do you want to see?
RealKerbal3x replied to Concodroid's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
I’d like to see anomalies scattered around, but nothing more than that. I actually like how KSP1 provides little lore - it’s up to the player to create their own, which I personally enjoy, having created my own complicated (perhaps overly complicated ) background story and lore for my Kerbals’ universe. For me, the developers adding in official lore/some sort of story would feel a bit limiting. I love the creativity of KSP, and that creativity often extends beyond just building rockets. -

Fair enough, it'll be very bad if they fail, regardless of whether they're separate systems or not. But keeping them separate still reduces the chance that two critical systems will fail at once. -
Looks pretty good...I'm tempted to watch it when it comes out.

With the fin-legs, it was a single point of catastrophic failure. A failure of the actuating hinges on the lower two fins would mean loss of control during reentry, and a landing failure. Personally, I'm happy to see the fins be liberated from the role of supporting the ship during landing, because it makes Starship a little safer. -
Let’s test the post merging feature. What if I post... ...and then post again a few seconds later. EDIT: As I expected: ‘your replies have been merged’.
