[1.10.1] KK's SpaceX Pack v.6.5 - 01/11/2020
RealKerbal3x replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
It's been out for nearly two months now -
The imperial system is an absolute mess of inconsistently defined units designed by people who married their cousins. You know that when you have to convert between units of the same system and look up how many feet there are in a mile you're doing something wrong.

How many hours have you played KSP for?
RealKerbal3x replied to GuessingEveryDay's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I own the game on GOG.com, and it only records play time if you launch it from the GOG Galaxy client. I have multiple installs and launch from a desktop shortcut most of the time, so I have no idea exactly how many hours I've played. But I can estimate - I started playing KSP on December 25 2017. As I type this it has been 966 days since then. If I assume that I've played for 2 hours every day (This is probably a fairly accurate estimate. Once again, I have no idea on the specifics, I don't record how long I play every day, and there have been periods of several days where I haven't played) since then, that's 966 * 2 = 1932 hours. It could be a lot more or a lot less, but I do know that I have sunk a perhaps unhealthy amount of time into this game in the 2 and a half years I've been playing -

Apparently SN6 already did a cryo test, though I couldn't find anything through the usual channels. Here's a timelapse I found: Seems like it was successful too, as the thrust simulator was removed today. -

SN6 is getting ready for some cryo action, while rave lighting is installed at the mid bay: -

The five-ring section at top right could be the barrel section for the next fairing. The question is, which nosecone will it get? -

No, they plan to do a few more 150m hops with SN5 and SN6 first, but after that SN8 is meant to do a 20km flight. SN8 *may* also do a 2km hop before it flies 20km, but we're not sure yet. It may be that they get enough data from multiple 150m hops that they can go straight to attempting a bellyflop. Edit: oops, noticed that @tater beat me to it -

Calling it now: SN9 will make the second attempt at the 20km bellyflop after SN8 pancakes on the landing pad. -
LV Series - partially reusable launch vehicles.
RealKerbal3x replied to katateochi's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Nice LVs, @katateochi! In my latest career I've been developing a set of reusable launch vehicles too, they're fun to make -
This is the earliest screenshot I have, on my Imgur account. It might be the first screenshot I ever took in KSP, I'm not sure. That was the first rocket I built, in version 1.3.1. Not as long as some people have been playing, but still pretty nostalgic for me. I remember the first time I tried to launch, I didn't check my staging and destroyed the engine on the launchpad. Eventually though, Jeb made it to space for the first time, and I was hooked on KSP.

Judging from the size of those rebar cages, those are going to be some T H I C C pillars at the SH launch pad -
@adsii1970 The surface fleet plays an important role in the story, so I'd say that if you can't get them working in 1.8.1 then you should just stick to 1.3. Having this story be in 1.3 is kind of a blast from the past, anyway, as that was the first version I played KSP in. Of course in the end it's your choice, but I really don't mind if you stay in 1.3.

As far as I know, the planet textures (as well as the KSC building textures, the UI, and other stuff) are inside directories called asset bundles that can't be opened unless you have some special software. There are multiple asset bundle files, but I have no idea what stuff is in what file, and attempting to transplant them between versions of KSP has a high likelihood of borking your installation. Have you tried using Event Horizon on 1.9.1? There are a couple of Kopernicus forks made for that version and the mod itself may work fine. 1.9.1 does have the majority of the planet revamps anyway (1.10 only revamped Jool and Laythe) so it might do for now.

@rudemario If I'm not mistaken, 1.8.0 did add the Unity upgrade, alongside revamps for the Mun, Minmus, Duna and Ike. Presumably adding the later celestial body revamps to 1.8.1 would work, but I don't think the textures for the planets/moons are accessible in the game files to the normal user, so that may be your stumbling block.

Hopefully SN8 will have the larger v2.0 landing legs as well. -

Comparing this to a previous image of the fins, they actually seem slightly smaller now. The forward fins seem less integrated into the nose now, too. -
Warning: rant about Apple and its products ahead. If you're an Apple fanboy for some reason, this post is not for you. My brother originally got a second-hand Macbook just over a month ago for his birthday, and a couple of weeks later the screen completely broke. Random stripes of coloured pixels all over it, which means that either a connection to the screen or the screen itself broke. Fortunately it was on guarantee, so we didn't have to spend any money for the people we bought it from (I think it was on Amazon) to take a look at it. But guess what? Thanks to Apple being the king of flagrant consumerism, it was actually more expensive to replace the entire computer rather than just replace the broken part. I'm not really sure what else I expected, to be honest. At least we didn't have to pay for the replacement. Great job Apple, a computer you made maybe a couple of years ago has just now broken in a manner that makes it uneconomical to fix. I applaud your dedication to quality products and definitely not thin, shiny fashion statements that must be replaced every year or two. No, it's definitely not the case that most of your products are literally glued together. It's not like they require a dongle to connect a flarping USB drive, absolutely not! I'll be sticking to my durable, reliable and easy-to-fix ThinkPad, thank you very much. I'd take its functional black plastic and Windows' slightly annoying interface over a computer that sacrifices durability and the most basic of functionalities (*cough* USB ports *cough*) to be fashionable. Form over function doesn't really make sense for computers. (On a side note, well done to Lenovo of 2011 for producing a laptop that has continued to function perfectly for nine years).

SLS/Orion is basically Saturn V/Apollo, but the launch vehicle is too small and the spacecraft is too big -

Footage from yesterday showing SN6 being installed on the launch mount: And everything happening today. I guess SN5 will keep Raptor SN27 for its next flight? There are no signs of it being removed (and I'm not sure how they would remove it anywhere other than the launch mount).
