Kai Tak Airport, Hong Kong - there will be never another airport like this in Human History. Perhaps in Kerbal so? https://www.gettyimages.com.br/fotos/aeroporto-de-kai-tak

So every vessel has its own "spacetime bubble". What means that it's also a single player problem. What means that once they solve the problem for single-player, multi-player will have it for free. You know, sometimes it pays to be crazier. They moved the timewarp problem from multiplayer to the mainstream singleplayer, where they would be able to get more exposure and, so, develop the thing with more confidence before going MP where everything is way harsher to work with. I don't know if I'm less crazy than I look, or if they are as crazy as me - in a way or another, I will not be alone in the asylum! On a side note, instead of "reconciliate" the spacetime bubbles, I would create a "temporary" container with it's own spacetime and then "translate" the private spacetimes into it, in the same way every object has it's own origin and such origin is translated into the 3D World it will be rendered into. Something like what's happening on the Serenity Robotics - the root cause of most of the problems is exactly the transformations being applied directly into the PartModule, making it susceptible to float errors being accumulated (and not only due time warp) and ending up drifting away. Such solution would prevent a lot of problems that a "reconciliation" would create - and perhaps reuse the same tools, but extended to a 4D transformation matrix? Someone "out there" had already worked on something like this? I suspect you labeling it as "craziness" may be related exactly to the same problems, but on a wider audience now: 4D spacetime.

You know, this is probably one of the best ideas for the game. I had played Carrier Command 2 in the past, and that sessions can be incredibly entertaining...

How was the time sync being planned? I remember an old discussion in which I came up with some (ludicrous?) suggestions, and never touched this subject again.

Well, I can only quote myself: This is the reason I advocate for a wider window for refunds. Pricing is a problem to be solved on a different level of the food chain. It was being advertised as EA at the moment of the sale? The engine has limitations, but it was not the main factor of the problem. There's very good looking games around using Unity, I think this argument is moot. Wrong. Completely, absolutely wrong. The following game is also made on Unity: I have a lot of disagreements about how Unity do things under the bonnet, and good looking graphics is not one of them. Granted, there's way better looking engines around, but from the "good enough" point of view, this is not a problem. Nope. We have word that they lost their GPU specialist due the crescent IA companies yanking all the workforce they can. From all KSP2 problems, "fixing" the graphics is going to be the most straightforward - as soon as someone capable is hired for the job. At this point, any criticizing as a product is moot, because that damned thing is stalled in EA right now, and it's highly unfeasible the new owner will fix everything in 6 months. And I agree there's a huge amount of things to be fixed - the worst of them, not technical.

Kerbal Space Program 2 (maybe being restarted) Hype Train.
Lisias replied to AtomicTech's topic in KSP2 Discussion
His criticizing about the half baked news articles is valid, but he didn't took a deep dive on the buyer's past acquisitions neither. Between many acquisitions, the ones that matters for our subject are: * 2022, a minority stake at Behaviour Interactive, Canadian Game Studio with a vast portfolio on Consoles (GBA PS2, PSP, and obiously PC, Xbox and PS5). * 2023, a minority stake at Candivore, Israeli mobile game studio. * 2024, they bought Jagex (runscape). * 2024, they bough the whole Private Division, and yanked all the staff of Annapurna Interactive to run it. Additionally, Haveli itself was funded in 2020 IIRC by Apollo Global Inc, these ones a huge asset management firm (650B USD in assets under their management). They tried to buy Paramount recently, buy the way... Initially they funded Haveli on ~500M USD, but only Jagex costed them 1.1B USD so we can be reasonably sure they are way bigger nowadays. These investments strongly suggest some strategy to gain a foot on the market. They fully own a seasoned Game Studio, and have minority stakes on other two - they are not buying corpses for dissection. And now they bough their own Game Publisher, closing the gaps. Not only that, they hired a whole staff of highly seasoned and reputable professionals from a publisher with a very impressive portfolio, so these guys have a hell of a network available right now. You don't hire seasoned and reputable professionals to sell scrapping neither squeeze the last dime of dying companies. That said, this doesn't tells anything about KSP2. They may, indeed, choose to ditch the thing to anyone willing to buy it and focus on the remaining P.D. portfolio - but since this is not how they are operating for the last few years, there's a chance they may consider further developing it. Not enough to rest assured, but still enough to not throw the towel yet.- 938 replies

You know, I didn't minded the KSP2 graphics at all. I agree that the shaders could be better, and now we know that they definitively should - but since they failed to keep the shader specialist on board by a reason or another, we have a good explanation for it. I would be prone to agree with you if KSP2 would not had be in Early Access, where such problems are not only common, but expected. Now... If you would be talking about how poorly the EA program mas managed, and that they should had been able to launch a proper 1.0 product by that time, yada yada yada, then we would be converging to an agreement. But heavily criticizing the state of the art of a Early Access game is plain nuts in my book. We should be criticizing the former owners of the IP by not being able to proper develop the thing? For sure. But this is not what we are doing now, are we? Fair game. As long you don't criticize an Early Access game as a full product. Now, as I said before, we have a long, long list of valid criticizing about KSP2 being developed the way it was, how the EA program was mismanaged and even abused, yada yada yada. But still, at this point, heavily criticizing the thing as a full product is moot because: or the damned thing is really dead, and so we would be kicking a dead horse or the new owners are going to reboot it, and so any criticizing is a waste of time because the whole thing would is going be reworked Even worst, they would be the preferred scapegoat for anything that would go wrong - and things always go wrong during development. This very thread is an example of what to expect. Even if they would had learned all their lessons (and I expect them to do it eventually, at least most of them), these poor stand-up guys would expend more time trying to prove they are doing things right this time than doing something (right or not). It's unfair to a lot of people that did they best but was ran over by forces beyound their control, but still... It's what I expect to happen. Heck, I think that even an eventual new team, no matter how skilled they would be, will need to pay some P/R professional to defend them publicly so they could do spend their time effectively doing their work, instead of defending their jobs.

I think it's a bit more. Things will not happen fast, however. Expect months (perhaps more than an year) until something concrete to happen in a perceivable way. These outages on Forum are not caused by lack of care, it's the other way around - we still have a Forum because there're people working behind the scenes trying to tackle down the problems as the budget allows, and the outages happens when the external actors ends up getting the upper hand for some moments. For all I had noticed since late 2024, we'd already be dead if there weren't some people looking into this. -
When I started to self-host my images, I was criticized because (almost) everybody said I wasn't going to keep my site for too long, and it will cripple Forum. (sigh) Now Forum is essentially littered with dead links from Discord, and some of the imgur ones are also being lost - but my content is still safe, at least while I'm alive. Some of the lost images I could find on Archive Org, so the situation is still (mostly) salvageable. But... Frankly? When people will learn that there's no free lunch, but instead a "socially acceptable" bait and switch tactic applied on the long run?

It's that one that had to be removed from Forum due some non-forum-compliant-terms in the tittle! But I found the Reddit entry for it, and it's "forum safe": -
Yep. Probably a test run to wet their feet on the market! Apparently, things are not going bad. ------- I tried buying 1500 Vals, and the UI allowed. So apparently they build more than 1000, and sold them. ------- Great!! They accepted my credit card! I FINALLY could buy some KSP merch after all these years! By reasons beyound reason, P.D. refused to sell me anything connecting from my IP in Brazil, even by having a address in USA to receive the merch and handle all the Customs mambo jambo - and I could not use a VPN to fool their <insert-your-favorite-non-forum-compliant-expletive-here> "security check" because I can't buy things using Credit Card on a VPN without infringing my CC Insurance clauses, voiding the insurance - what's a dumb move when doing international transactions. Things are already improving!

Why this quota is being exceeded I can't tell - but I dare to guess that Forum is being increasingly hammered by less than friendly actors. === POST EDIT === Conspiracy Theory Mode On -

This one happened to me too. It evolved from 502 to 503, and then to 504 before coming back. On a side note, it looked as some service being rebooted or similar event. In a way or another, my monitoring caught this one. I will publish the charts after midnight Zulu time. -

Ex-Annapurna Video-Game Staff to Absorb Former Take-Two Indie Label
Lisias replied to PDCWolf's topic in KSP2 Discussion
I think is more likely Apollo Global inc deciding to buy Embracer instead. Haveli is too small to make profits this way. The current portfolio suggests they bought things they need to accomplish something. Right now I'm counting our blesses. The only empirical evidences we have is that they plan to keep us alive. These ex-Annapurna guys are still wetting their feet on this mess. -

Lisias replied to Findthepin1's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Not a problem if the moon is equaly inclined so it's orbit would match the Kerbin's equator. Remember, positions in space are relative. What matters is the Mun attitude and position related to Kerbin, not Kerbol.
