Ethan13
Orbiter, Spaceflight Simulator, MSFS. Now there are so many interesting things available that you can not get out of your computer for months. Now you can feel like an engineer in a space company without leaving your home. JoeSchmuckatelli
I tried MS FlightSim 2020... and it did not take. I've a buddy who loves flight sims and all the buttons, etc. He'll sit for hours doing passenger jet hops in all the big boys... but that just doesn't do it for me. However - I find myself really enjoying the Tarkov Inventory Management Mini-game. (Snark intended). EFT is kind of a realistic shooter, kind of an MMO loot hauler - with a very constrained player inventory (depending upon how much you are willing to spend) where you spend waaaaay too much time trying to find space for the good stuff you just acquired. Good news is that I am so bad new at the game, I get to clear inventory slots on a regular basis. But the maps are very well done, and the game-play quite tense. I don't know what it is about Russian-developed titles, but they always seem a bit more complex than the run-of-the-mill corporate sponsored stuff I see coming out of North America (COD = yawn) and most of Europe. (In other words: Russians like their games to be punishing to the uninitiated... and I kind of like that. Same as WOT: it looks simple from the outside, but once you get into it there are layers of complexity). Shpaget
TIL OTTD is about to hit Steam. https://www.openttd.org/news/2021/02/02/openttd-on-steam.html Quote if everything goes as planned, we will release OpenTTD 1.11 on Steam on the first of April, 2021! And that is not even an April fools’ joke! It seems as a great time to get back into little train management. It's been years since the last time I played it. The price? Same as it ever was. StrandedonEarth
Just finished a speed run in Factorio, finishing the game in less than 7 hours to get the last achievement for finishing under 8 hours. There's certainly room for improvement on that if I want to do all or part of it again. Followed a speedrun guide, but it was still tricky first rolling a useable map and still having to fit the factory beside a lake. Shpaget
Dorfromantik It just came out in early access, but honestly I haven't experienced any bugs, crashing or similar. It's a nice chillout game, no enemies, no pressure. Just place tiles around. One gripe only. I seem to always be surprised about game over. DDE
So, I'm having a fun gaming-related quandry today. The next DLC for Stellaris is coming April 15, so I decided to make a modest sacrifice of cash to Moloch, especially since I had cash in the Steam Wallet from my Halo refund. Then I noticed that Surviving Mars also has a neat "paid mod" pack, and I decided to buy that as well (altogether they'd cost me aboit as much as a cup of tea at a downtown cafe in Moscow). And then I realized I can't pay for it. Due to certain regulatory shenanigans both Qiwi and Yandex can no longer wire payments abroad right now. So I'm going to have to refund the Stellaris DLC to get enough cash to pay for the Surviving Mars DLC here and now. Should go without a hitch, but a story nonetheless. Update: I now understand that the restrictions are due to the crusade against online casinos. Edited April 4, 2021 by DDE

DDE
Look like AI Dungeon is going to crash and burn. The devs nuked all social features of the game (the 'Explore' tab) for an indefinite period They then poorly implemented an input filter for unseemly content (of the kind unmentionable on this forum) To compensate for the poor nature of said filter, a story caught in it will be flagged for manual review for compliance with TOS, including private stories. Other stories in your account can be inspected as well The devs have had two data leaks that made said stories publicly available, within the span of a month Throughout all this, they've either been utterly mute, or made non-committal posts full of corporatespeak This brouhaha also made a lot of people notice the sharply declining quality of the AI itself
