Actually, IMO damage is most often dealt with the edge of the blade, not the point. And if it does come down to a thrust, I don't think the point being a little dull will matter much. Also the obviously smaller and tilted female figure looks stereotypically sexist. They should send an updated Pioneer, to prevent the aliens from being misled. Biologically woman are usually shorter than men, so it is an easier way of doing it but they could add an element of randomness to it, but even if the heights are skewed that's because they are in real life but this is a fictional species so it is different.
