Not going to spoil mando season 3 finale but it really felt kinda flat. Yes it has some good moments but overall it just felt so so flat. Id say a solid 3 out of 10. Im not trusting season 4 or the alleged movie can fix this.

Man! I was just getting into the season!

I thought episode 7 was fun but it did feel a little recycled from earlier season finales.

No wonder why Jon Favreau was so angry about Kathleen Kennedy and Co. messing with the Mandalorian...

The Mando finale felt a bit too rushed, too many things to do and not enough time to do them. Without spoiling too much:

Spoiler

How did Grogu get there?

How did the jetpacks last so long when they all ran out of fuel chasing the big birdie in an earlier episode?

The bit with the plants wasn’t nearly long enough, they stood around for barely a minute (if even that) and then ran off again so it felt like an afterthought.

Mando-Grogu tag teaming was good, at last Grogu is starting to hold his own rather than being a sitting duck most of the time.

Grogu’s silly tiptoeing gallop at the end was mildly ridiculous.

Turns out the real Darksaber was the friends we made along the Way? (see what I did there?)

Wait- Din is his last name!?

No Mythosaur, boo; but it did leave it open for some future series to pick it up.

There is a whole lot of gossip around the things  like space vespa slow speed chase and the somewhat jarring arc of Mando3 being 'management interference with artistic vision.'

Apparently the vespas were the classic 'yeah, we can sell toys' mandate and Baby Yoda was forced back into the season too early for the planned story arcs of his and Mando's characters.

I just try to enjoy the eye candy and I wasn't disappointed.

Spoiler

It was nice to finally see Grogu open a can of Force WhoopS on some Imperials.

And if Gideon didn't want his clones destroyed, maybe he should have protected them, hmm?

And then there was that made-for-video-game sequence

Quote

In the earliest version of the initial draft for Star Wars, Solo was an alien of the 'Ureallian' race with green skin, no nose and enormous gills, also being a member of the Jedi Bendu and being acquainted with General Skywalker.

SW and HP are the same universe.

That's why he shot first.

I watched The Last Jedi again last night, and I really don’t see what is wrong with the Holdo maneuver.

Ramming abandoned ships as a tactic was already established in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and it is a natural last ditch desperate move.

I don’t think it raises questions about “why they don’t ram all the time then”. Star Wars already has these types of questions. Did the existence of the magna guards raise the question of why the CIS didn’t just build those instead of battle droids? Did the A-Wing crashing into the bridge of the SSD raise the question of why the Rebels didn’t just use Ohka-style suicide craft?

An idea I posited about using fighter sized projectiles equipped with a hyper drive, escorted up close to an enemy ship and then fired away, exists even without the Holdo maneuver. So while Star Wars still has consistency issues with its technology and tactics, these are just inherent to the series rather than especially caused by TLJ.

Something I noticed about it is that the First Order attacks the Resistance base with air support, in contrast to the assault on Hoth where the snowspeeders reigned supreme. It’s a nice “tactical” touch, considering the sequels removed the nice detailed, WWII inspired dogfights with proper fighter formations.

PLodding my way through Ahsoka.....

Space whales... ok cool...

Oh... they migrate... Hmmmm.....

They migrate intergalactically?!   Oh heck no......

And then....

Doctor Who says "A long long time ago..."

*table flip meme*

Nope.

I blame you George.

I'm out.

I can't do this anymore.

Even the General is cast wrong.

This is horrible.

Why do I do this to myself!?

The worst part is they could have had his character actually tell a meaningful, thought-provoking story in that moment, but they really just went for the self-aware reference.

And the new galaxy has nothing new in it.

I don't blame George, except he sold LucasFilm to the House of Mouse.

Disney is out to suck every last dollar they can out of the franchise, and as they do so, stink it up as much as they can so no one else will want to touch it. VII, VIII, and IX sucked. The last decent SW movie put out was Rogue One.

I don’t what you mean by “the general is cast wrong”. He’s the same voice actor who played the character in one of the animated shows.

I saw a meme where someone is replying to someone on Twitter who said “Space whales is my line. No thanks Disney”.

Replier says something to the effect of “Because space wizards fighting with laser swords is oh so realistic”.

I assume you haven’t watched The Clone Wars or Rebels animated shows. It’s much better if you have watched those.

Of course, animation isn’t for everyone, so I’m not telling you to watch those.

The prequels were treated the exact same way, and the kids that grew up with them now form a large enough portion of the fan base that they are respected movies now.

I don’t think a quality drop occurred with him selling to Disney.

I dunno chief, Rogue One was pretty sucky.

On the other hand, I really liked VII and VIII before IX came along. There was so much promise and potential that was wasted with having JJ Abrams do IX.

As for the TV stuff, it's been amazing. The only thing I haven't liked is Andor (I really don't like Cassian Andor's character) though I'm willing to keep going through it 'cause it's got Andy Serkis and the ISB.

She.    She is cast wrong.      I love her in a lot of her other work, but she looks 16 in her makeup and I have trouble buying her being a general at that age without being a Jedi.

Rogue One was the bridge between the prequels and Episode IV. It did a great job of explaining why Vader was beyond angry, why he knew Leia was a Rebel spy and not on a diplomatic mission, and explained well the phrase “it cost many lives to get us this information” we hear in Episode IV.  It tied into that movie in several more places, too, but I’m on mobile… :P

Every SW movie does not have to have a Rebel Alliance happy ending. Long live the Emperor and the First Galactic Empire!

Well, that’s understandable.

Ahsoka was 17 in the final season of TCW. I don’t think it is too off, but she does have a bit of a baby face while animated Ahsoka seems more mature.

For all its writing flaws, I think Obi-Wan Kenobi did a good job of explaining why Vader and Kenobi seemed so calm despite (previously) having not met since Mustafar until Episode IV.

Ewan Macgregor’s performance was very good and it was nice to see Vader’s violent side during his first appearance.

Nope, still wrong.    Mary Winstead is miscast as General Syndualla.  Dawson is doing great, carries the veritas that character requires.

Nah, VII was just a rehash of IV.  Same plot, nothing original.  I knew right then I would hate the rest.

I can sit and watch the original 3 any time any place.    The prequels are good aside from a couple notable points,  I actually kind of enjoy the plodding history lesson of those.

But the last 3?   They make Armageddon look like piece of solid flawless sci fi writing.
