KSP2's atmospheres have been getting some much-needed love from our environment team and graphics engineers, and there are still more improvements on the way. We're especially proud of Murshed Choudhury's work on the new atmospheric scattering system!

Looks great! Seeing the moon slide into view like that is an incredible visual. Also, glad that some planets are going to have different fog densities, the different views on different planets are a big plus over single planet games.

Sometimes we place a reference Kerbal for scale when we're surveying environments. That's what the little red fella's about in that third shot.

Was curious what that little guy was about haha.  It's looking so pretty!  I never could've imagined a stock KSP looking like this back in the day.

Holy Kraken this is epic.

And the moon is super close, whoa.

Yep, the first two shots are Gurdamma, not Kerbin. Donk is much closer than the Mun (though this ended up being a bit TOO close -- it's been pushed back out just a smidge since this footage was taken).

Here's a shot from yesterday with the rings in place and Donk at proper distance. Things have gotten very pretty all of a sudden: image.png

In the shot moving towards the planet, you can see some artifacts in the clouds that look like some kind of Z-fighting horizontal lines on the thinnest parts of the clouds.

I remember seeing this phenomena on other videogames with volumetric clouds. What is the cause for that? Smoothing?

Are those, backlit rings? That's so cool!

Will the rings change depending if you look at them from the front or from the back, like the many pictures of Saturn Eclipses?
