It's almost certainly this ring hab part we've seen in code and in the EA trailer being subject to reentry visuals

The trusses are the exact same and there's the indents between the sections of the ring hab.

It does seem they took in the feedback that the previous effect they teased looked really bad. This one looks more homogeneous in color, but at least nicer on the eyes.

Pure speculation of course, but I'm sure we'll get science pretty soon, then some hacked together version of just atmospheric heating effects, and then we'll start getting pieces of the rest of the heating system.

In a Feature Episode about the soundtrack?

I'm really sad that it's gotten to the point where the devs will release a behind-the-scenes picture of the next Feature Episode with a computer monitor that has a picture on it and it'll be seen as some desperate attempt at reigniting hope in the game.

KSP1 had a team of 6 and had 1.0 release 5 years after the start of development. Development for KSP2 started 5 years ago with a team of roughly 20-30 and we're nowhere near KSP1 in terms of stability at 1.0, KSP2 is just shinier.
