Lisias
Since this problem is still biting some people (Forum is reestablished, but some services still don't): Quote . Now, on the other hand, the entire kerbalspaceprogram.com doesn't. It redirects to private division website which is also down The Support site is working. AlamoVampire
These errors only erode my confidence in this forums future further. Like I said in the other thread like this. Until the powers that be (those who control the license and IP) make some sort of public statement about this forums future, the future of KSP1 support if any, and the future of KSP2 is directly commented on, I am of the opinion that by May at BEST we will not have a forum any more. And that guess is me being optimistic. The 502 Bad Gateways and now the THREE total failures of the system in the last 4 months is not making me hopeful. 162001242025
mrneon
Should i already be worried about the forums? I joined this community not even a year ago and it seems we might be done.

AlamoVampire
@mrneon @Bobbejans from what i know based on what the moderators made public we have about 60ish days left on the current license for for forums. What that means for us as users best that i know is murky at best. I can only guess but my instinct says unless its renewed we will at best lose support, at worst shut us down. Like you im just a user so im guessing. Deddly i think it was said the recent glitch (one just before the one a few hours ago) was tied to a handoff. Meaning? No idea. As i said on my own behalf until the true powers that be comment, we cant know, i expect worst case total shutdown by may. Am i right? No idea. Hope the best expect worst. 165501242025
Skorj
Thanks to everyone who worked on getting the forums back! 60 days should be enough for ex-Annapurna to get their bearings and decide what to do with the forums. Hopefully they keep them. If nothing else, these forums are a great place to announce new KSP merch and licensing deals.
PDCWolf
o7 on coming back. Bit of a shameful display by our new benefactors and whoever is in charge of the tech side. However I'll state any day that seeing this place online makes me smile, despite everything.

I agree...the people of the KSP community & wealth of experience & insights in the historical threads & ongoing exploration & innovation & just plain fun shared on this forum that are what brought me to KSP (& in case the new benefactors are watching also to allocate resource to support/acquire many types of KSP licenses & even purchase them as gifts for others over the years ;-)

Oukey... Who let Jebediah alone in the server's room again? 8 hours ago, PDCWolf said: o7 on coming back. Bit of a shameful display by our new benefactors and whoever is in charge of the tech side. Serious now: IMHO, just a tinny little bit of communication would had made wonders for this situation. The DNS Entry pinpointing to a parking page where a image with a grinding Jebediah with a keyboard in hands and some scared IT technicians behind and the printing "We are reworking the servers, we will be back Soon™" would not had prevented some of the backslash, but would had prevented the chilling effect that any outage now creates - and as bonus, we would get some good laughs on the less annoyed users. Not that these guys would not had their hands already full - they are building up a new company from the ground, almost surely the one in charge for this migration have an awfully big backlog to cope with, and this Forum is only one of that entries. Pretty sure something got trough the cracks and when it blew up, they had to scramble. Pain is unavoidable. Suffering is optional. ColdJ
[Intro] At first I was afraid, I was petrified Kept thinkin' I could never live without you by my side But then I spent so many nights thinkin' how you did me wrong And I grew strong and I learned how to get along [Verse 1] And so you're back, from outer space I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face I should have changed that stupid lock I should have made you leave your key If I'd have known for just one second you'd be back to bother me. But seriously: Very glad to see it back. Let this be a lesson to all. If there is any info on the forums you really need to be able to look at at anytime that you can't find anywhere else. Go now, open a new text file on your computer and then copy and paste what you want to keep into it. It is a simple form of backup.

Linkageless
EDIT: I wondered if @Lisias would have commented on that before I, and I was right. Clearly a transcription error when setting up the ELB, easily done. The rookie error part of this was that it's easily mitigated, detected, and fixed. Never mind, as several of us have indicated now, it shows there is a definite will to foster this community and invest in the future of KSP, and that we can expect a few bumps in that road while the infrastructure is replaced by the new owners. We don't know the experience level of the person who was doing it. At least they got the forum back on line again so that we can complain about them on here. I knew that there was a typo and yet I had to read it five times to realise a K was missing. No one is perfect. Complain about those that put in no effort and throw you away. Don't complain about those who at least try, whether they be experts or novices. It may not have been resolved quickly but it was resolved. We're still in the dark past what is an organization that is forced to reveal data of who manipulates domains.
