Geonovast
After another Minmus biome-hopping mission, which resulted in Minmus being nearly completed and another 1700 science brought home, development started on a shuttle program. Unfortunately, control was lost during the first atmospheric flight test (banked too hard), Jeb had to bail out, and watch a 96,000 prototype plunge into the water east of the KSC. FinalFan
Today I launched my first asteroid capture mission. (It was not a contract.) I didn't calculate the delta V ahead of time, and I wanted to make sure I got there with everything I needed, so I think I went overboard. [edit: TinyPic is dead; long live Flickr. Original link for insanity posterity: http://i65.tinypic.com/fp2tt4.jpg ] On the pad it weighs 1602 tons, or not too far from three times as much as my previous heaviest rocket, and has 1.16 TWR without the Rhino (1.28 with). (I wasn't sure whether it was more efficient to burn it on the pad or not; originally I was going to have another Mammoth in the center but then I realized that loading up on Kickbacks was cheaper and saved LFO.) [ http://i66.tinypic.com/10r4ab5.jpg ] I designed it so that the central core vessel would get to orbit will 100% fuel. (I've been fooling around with ISRU for a while, but I have nothing in place yet that would handle fueling a ship this size in a reasonable number of trips.) I put some hardware on the giant boosters so I can potentially put them to some kind of use in the future; I don't anticipate putting that kind of nonsense into orbit often and if I change my mind I can still recover most of the funds. [ http://i67.tinypic.com/2zef9ly.jpg ] The 273 ton center stage, as it turns out, has plenty of delta V to rendezvous with the asteroid. (It would have been 303t with even more, but I forgot to fill up the ore tanks.) The plan is to hit a Class B that is still a while away from its Kerbin encounter, then suck it dry while moving to a Class E to haul back to Kerbin. Angelo Kerman
After redesigning the Munbus, I flew the Mk2 prototype to Munbase Enterprise: Munbus is now very modular. Here's a test I did earlier: It supports both ground and on-orbit reconfiguration.
Lisias
On the maiden flight from the Mk2 revision of my Airship, I made a mistake trying to stabilize her (she wobbles a bit while maneuverings), and barely managed to avoid a collision when I realized she had deviated heading. I ended up doing a low pass near the Control Tower, Top Gun style, with an.. ~3.400 Tons and 390 Meters long Airship. Managed to make ~1400 Kerbals to feel the need... the need for clean pants. Maintenance staff will have a really unpleasant time cleaning up seats and working stations. =P There're no pictures from the Control Tower. Mysteriously, no one were found on the facility during this stunt... =D Edited June 6, 2018 by Lisias typos, typos, typos everywhere! Kronus_Aerospace
Note to self, be more gentle with the 300 ton cargo bay door/nose in the future. Could have been worse I suppose. Lately I've been designing the final positioning stage and the module as a single craft separated by a decoupler set to zero force. Then I balance my RCS around this combined system - likely meaning there'll be some RCS thrusters on the station module. This makes it pretty easy to manage the docking. If you're using KIS/KAS you can send a Kerbal out to detach the RCS thrusters if you don't need them and want to lower part count. Yeah, I plan to ditch those RCS tugs and just add RCS thrusters to the modules which I’ll detach with KIS afterwards. Should make assembly easier. Nivee~
I thought I was good enough to play with Infernal Robotics. Clearly, I was getting way too ahead of myself.... And I downloaded a bunch of engine mods.... got overwhelmed in a sandbox game and shut down KSP...

Xurkitree
sorry for this FRICKING FINALLY. I HAVE, AFTER NEARLY 4 WEEKS OF THINKING, DESIGNING, FLYING, RELOADING, CRASHING, FAILING, PILOTING, MANUVER NODEING, AND TROUBLESHOOTING - HAVE FINALLY MANAGED TO MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO LAND ON MOHO DURING MY GRAND TOUR. I should have really planned more. It took me 2 weeks to get into orbit around moho (i even went back to Mun planning to leave from there by ditching excess OX, when I realised I could do it at Eve, so reloaded a save, wiping 2-3 days of progresswith all of my fuel , and another 1 1/2 weeks to send a refuelling ore ship there, with enough DV for Orbital insertion and rendevouz. Stocked with 10500 untis of ore, once processed aboard the KSS Hypernova, should give me enough LFO to land. I CAN'T WAIT TO GET AWAY AAAA SHOUT OUT TO ALEXMOON'S LAUNCH WINDOW PLANNED FOR SUCH A GREAT LUNCH WINDOW AND PROFILE Edited June 6, 2018 by Xurkitree

I've also had success with building a frame of trusses around the station module with the RCS attached, and the trusses & orbital maneuvering vehicle get staged off & deorbited, no messing around with KIS. Like this: This was a small module, but the basic idea has worked with up to orange Jumbo tanks for the station module. Does require plenty of room around the docking area though. Seems like a good idea, but I did try that before and the placement of the RCS thrusters is hard to work out. The most convenient place to put the thrusters is on the top and bottom of the fuel tank but the COM is in a different place, which causes issues with rotation. Not to mention the agonisingly slow rotation of the whole assembly. Anyway, just attaching thrusters to the module appeals more to me as the module can then fit in my shuttle’s cargo bay. And I think orbital construction with KIS is quite fun as it gives more purpose to EVAs. Good idea though 8 minutes ago, Triop said: Just now...Don't ask how... Sit!! Laie
A few weeks ago, never mind how many, with nothing better to take up my time, I thought I would renew my Jool-5 license. Somehow I got it into my head that I should try and make the best submission I can -- having been a challenge host myself, I didn't want to inflict a 30-minute video on anyone. So, here it is: Short, to the point, and (I believe) quite entertaining. Jool-5 in three minutes.
eddiew
Reminded myself how to KSP by launching a tried and tested Cloudspike III spaceplane, then using it to rescue first Fern Gaelan from Gael orbit, then Piper Gaelan from high above Ceti. Then felt very sad as I realised that somewhere between 1.3.1 and 1.4.3 the game has forgotten all of the world's firsts and contracts I did and is rewarding me for orbiting Gael and offering me a lot of contracts to scan Ceti and take temperature readings on Iota and... ugh. These things are still in the archived contracts, I really don't want to have to do them all again to knock the silly thing on to the next planet in the line Also was I calling my kerbals Gaelan or Kerman? I honestly can't remember... Edited June 6, 2018 by eddiew
