5 Cats. Simon, the one you're all probably familiar with at this point: No idea on age. Took him in from a rainstorm, tried to find an owner, no luck. Neighbor said he'd been roaming the neighborhood for a few months, and his weight at the time reflected it. Blackie: No idea on age. Also brought him in from a rainstorm. Wife was outside smoking at ~5 am, and he just showed up and demanded to be let in. No luck with finding owners. He was a good weight when I got him, but after 6 weeks of looking, I just kept him. Ding: ~ 14 years old. Got her from my wife's mom, when she moved. It was either we take her in, or she would go to a shelter. She'd likely have been put down had we let that happen. Myra: ~ 4 years old. One of the on-purpose ones. Adopted her from a no kill shelter. (This shelter doesn't take animals directly, they rescue "undesireable" animals from kill shelters, get them the care they need, and adopt them out). She's not a fan of cameras. Bonkers: ~ 9 years old. Got him from a farm, where my family has gotten cats before. We had stopped by to ask about some information about one of the cats we had at the time (which came from there). My wife found an all grey cat, and she'd just wanted one for so looooong. So Bonkers came home with us. Notice the problem? Yeah, I did too. And here's Carmen, who I got when I was 10. Picked her out when she was 7 hours old. Lost her just before she turned 17.
  2. If you're doing just a plugin, like this would be, first read some C# tutorials and get familiar with the language. Then go here: Annnd that's as far as I've gotten. I tried dipping into modeling, but the tutorials are so antiquated at this point, that they're not much help. Once I have the ambition to dedicate to it, I'm just going to have to con convince beg someone into holding my hand long enough for me to get the basics.
  3. That's why something like this should stay in mod territory. You could have a mod that adds the functionality, a mod that adds it and requires the EVA Kerbal, or a mod that does both and the EVA requirement is toggle-able. Personally, I would love the EVA requirement. A simple setting would make both of us happy. This would be rather convenient. However, you can... sort of. You can build it, adjust what you need, launch, then hack the gravity with the F12 menu to match the body you want to test. Granted, it's not as ideal as a full body simulator, but at least you can test in your target gravity. Honestly C# is making my eyes cross as I'm used to much different languages. Once I get some traction (i.e. the right tutorial that speaks to me), I'm sure I'll get something that will let you adjust the springs and likely break literally everything else.
  4. Yes.... but when you've got several dozen mods installed, the absolute last thing you blame for crashes is KSP itself. If you remove all the mods, and it still crashes, then you troubleshoot KSP. Always start with the mods. @linuxgurugamer does janitor's closet prevent the unwanted parts from being loaded at start? Would that help in this case?
  5. Doesn't help too much. Laptop/Desktop? Core i3? (not 13 ) which model specifically? Do you have a dedicated graphics card (I'm guessing no with an i3) If this thing's a laptop with a low-end i3 (and therefore low clock speed), that's probably going to be an issue. 20 fps with a 300 part craft is not terrible. I doubt your crashing problem is 1.3.1. You stated you're using the 32 bit version of KSP with 50 or 60 mods. You're probably hitting the 4Gb process limit and crashing out. Use the 64 bit version. The taboo around the 64 bit version has been moot for a long time.
  6. Yeah they made it pretty obvious that it's exactly what they did. @Darth Badie or @bewing or someone else at @SQUAD might want to know. Already has 25 downloads.
  7. I do like the MH stow-able wheels. Sorta. They have some issues. Mainly that the make everything I attach them to bounce around like it's in a bouncy house, which is perfectly fine for low gravity moons. Managed to completely botch the design on an Apollo style trip to the Mun to play with one of the jumping bean rovers. Everything went fine, for the most part: Launch: Mun Intercept: The second lift stage, just ahead of the orbiter, is on a collision course with the Mun. So far so good..... Annnnd it's stuck. Can't get out, bouncing around like crazy, and completely my fault by design. Sooo... not even bothering to get out of the lander.. Tried to check on the lander after separation, but something exploded, and it wouldn't let me switch to it... "About to crash"? Home, dumping the trash, SM catches up to me and passes quite quickly... gotta love these new effects, right? Apparently heat makes everything hollow and transparent. Came down pretty close to the KSC, and I wasn't even trying. I mean... I've landed much further away when I was trying. That's the old KSC island for anyone who can't tell where I am.
  8. Uh... honestly I'm not even sure how your computer is even running KSP. It must be paging like crazy. Even bone stock KSP takes at least 2 GB by itself, let alone anything allocated for literally anything else.
  9. F1 generates a screenshot within the game. It will be put in your KSPFolder/game/Screenshots Upload the pictures you need to post to an image hosting site, like imgur. You can then post the image links here. As far as setting it up, back up your save so when this is all said and done you can go back to where you started. Load your game, and focus in on your lander. Use the debug menu (Alt + F12 on Windows), and use the Set Orbit option to rendezvous with you mothership. This will put your lander 150m away, and you can get right to docking until you get this figured out.
  10. I have an idea what might be happening, but I don't even wanna mention it without seeing pictures. Before, during the attempt, and when it's flinging. Just spam F1 while you're trying to dock, and show us the most relevant ones.
  11. A bit generalized. I'm sure that's the case for some, but I've had three Dell laptops, and every single one had a replaceable processor.
  12. The more I think about it (Also the more my new MH Mun rover with the stowable wheels bounces around on the Mun for no reason), the more I need this. Not all drivers should be drivers, either. I imagine that self-adjusting equipment would add a significant amount of weight, when doing it manually could be as easy as turning a nut with a wrench. So I'm fine with an Engineer required to do it on EVA. Although I think it would be better to build a mod that included much more than just landing gear adjustments. Give the Engineers the ability to adjust much more. Decoupler/Fairing ejection force, make it so an EVA'd Engineer is needed to adjust thrust limited on engines and authority on reactions wheels, the ability to fix broken solar panels, antennas, and TCSs (ideally with kits, not just magic like the parachutes.) Oh, and kits for parachute packing! You get the idea. I may have some reading to do.
  13. @Vanamonde it is still there, partially. I went to go edit my signature, and the circled part flashes briefly, then goes away. So it's still there, just something is somehow hiding it. I was lucky to get a screenshot. If it's a hassle I'll try to ignore it unless it actually causes problems.
  14. Posting to see if the other one still flashes... Doesn't appear to. I'll check back if I see it again. Thanks!
  15. I think asparagus will be fine, just needs some tweaking. Although since there was no payload, there was a lot of dV left over. I burned retrograde to de-orbit it, but I just left them running. About 25km into the atmosphere, it started to gain altitude, and ended up in a 220km x 80km retrograde orbit with enough dV to go to Minmus and back if I wanted.... and that was all with dumping the last stage early. Fix the staging order, ditch the radial engines on the last stage, and it could be good for you. Although, since it's melting your computer as is, I'm not sure how you're planning on doing it with a large, complex payload...
  16. The power to foresee the next song on a playlist set to random.
  17. Do you guys have the ability to edit our signatures? I believe I've buggered mine. CubeUpload was out for like two days, so I changed the Title of my Dres Awareness badge from the gibberish filename to a message about my screenshots being dead. (So it would be displayed when the badge wasn't loaded. CubeUpload is back up, and now the message and badge is gone, and there's literally nothing there for it when I go to edit. But, sometimes I do see something flash when my signature is loaded in a post. I'd like it purged so I can start over if possible.
  18. Have you done this in 1.4.1? I tried, and it wouldn't let me target the flag because of that stupid KSC marker. I have never had a problem finding the KSC from orbit. I hate that little marker. I haven't looked, I'm hoping it can be turned off.
  19. What mods are on the craft besides MJ and vaporvent? Can you get a VAB screenshot of it? I'm guessing it has something to do with what's underneath the nosecone at the top. Aerodynamics hates the sudden diameter changes without a fairing.
  20. I understand where both of you are coming from. I've had cats my entire life, minus one month. I'm almost 31, I've had quite a few. The cat we had when I was born was immediately my cat. She was about 3 at the time, and as an infant/toddler she was my pillow, my best friend. When I was about 10, my mom and I came home from the grocery store to find her pulling herself around on the floor with just her front legs. Rushed her to the vet, and they found a blood clot that had temporarily paralyzed her. They could give her a shot, but we would have to keep coming in, over and over to get more shots, and she would be in constant pain. Given the condition, and her age, we decided it would be best to put her down. I did not eat for a week. About a month later we adopted a 3 year old cat from the "humane" society that was literally getting put down the next day for being "unadoptable." He instantly took to my brother, so he came home with us. He'd been abused by his previous owner, declawed in all four paws. He was afraid of brooms, afraid of doors, afraid of the dark. A few months after that, we brought home my next cat, whom I'd picked out when she was just 7 hours old. I had her for nearly 17 years, but had to put her down when she just got too sick. I was a complete wreck, and it took me at least 45 minutes in the parking lot before I could drive home. He died 17 years later, peacefully, at home. My brother's wife is an emergency vet tech, so they were able to put him down at home. He may have had another year or two, but he would have been miserable and sick the whole time. It really was better that way. Last year they did something similar with their 16 year old border collie. Just at her favorite lake, not at home. Let's switch gears! Quite a few years ago, a move from a house into an apartment forced me to turn two of my cats over to live with my mom until I was able to take them back. Unfortunately, by the time that happened, they'd been with her so long that moving them back to me would be too hard on them. One of them developed some kind of issue with his liver and/or kidneys. Somehow simultaneously had excess fluid buildup while being dehydrated. She had to take him in every week to have fluid drained out and pumped in. One of the two vets at the practice insisted there was no hope and it was best to put him down. The other thought we might try a medication, which was supposed to just lessen the symptoms, and maybe give him a few more months. It wasn't long, and the fluid problems were gone. He started playing and eating/drinking normally again. The weekly vet visits stopped. The medication was halved, and halved again. Last I knew, they were discussing cutting it down some more. (They'll never risk taking it away entirely). He's been a bit of a miracle kitty, and if anyone saw him now, they'd never guess he'd ever been sick. I think you're doing the right thing, at least without knowing more. Do your research, but also consult a vet. (I've never known them to charge for over-the-phone advice, although it's usually limited. They can't say much without seeing the cat). At times it may seem like they just want to put it down and get it over with, but I've never actually met one that didn't truly care what was best for the animal. But it is possible that not much can be done and dragging it on isn't the best thing to do. I've got 5 of the fuzzy little jerks now, 3 of which were on accident. (I'm a sucker - two were strays, one I saved from going to a shelter, and one of the on-purpose ones is from a shelter). I recently found out that the 9 year old has asthma, but he seems to be doing fine untreated for now. Sorry I got a little verbose there, just found out about an hour ago that my brother's 14? year old dog died of advanced cancer that they only found 2 months ago.
  21. Didn't have too much trouble with it. Stayed about 9 -15 fps in atmo and up to 30 up in orbit with 163 parts left. Staging needs to be adjusted, the first set on the upper stack runs out before the center on the lower stack, so staging just separates the still burning lower center, which collides into the rest of it. Seems quite a bit overkill, though, especially since there's no payload. Also, why don't the radial engines fire on the center upper part until the last stage? By the time you use them, they're pretty pointless, and until then, they're just dead weight.
  22. Still running 1.3.1 on my mod install. I have 1.4.1 installed, but only running KER and the newly revived ShowFPS on it. Got a lot of dust to settle before I move completely over. Not overly thrilled with 1.4.1 yet.
