Bej Kerman replied to Choctofliatrio2.0's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
The entire point of the game is to manipulate orbits correctly, doing things like massive bases and having to do several runs to build said bases wasn't exactly intended from the start. KSP 2 will let you set up rockets to do runs in the background that you have already done manually, an idea that, frankly, feels a lot less like a lazy go-to for when milk runs are brought up. -
Michael Collins Memorial - KSP2 Poll
Bej Kerman replied to Dr. Kerbal's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
Nope, just couldn't care less if anyone really finds immersion that important in a game about figuring out ways to kill green dudes, that they're going to dedicate so much to getting a rock removed from the game. -

Immersion doesn't matter lol. -

Yes, what a shame Squad put another, slightly more handcrafted rock on the Mun. What a terrible mistake that threatens ruining KSP. -

Michael Collins deserves a memorial more than Neil and Buzz for being the one who had to stay up. Quite sad not many people know him. -

Nah, you are just drawing an arbitrary line in the sand where you don't consider it too "on the nose". Well, I don't want to waste any more time arguing. Clearly KSP's worthless lore is more important than the devs recognising Collins. -
Michael Collins Memorial - KSP2 Poll

Let’s just go full bore then and put an entire graveyard beside KSC full of real life figures who worked in various space programs. I mean that is what you want, right? Strawman fallacy. I want to stress that whatever lore and intact 4th wall you're clinging to really, really doesn't matter when this easter egg is gonna be obscure to 98% of players. -
Michael Collins Memorial - KSP2 Poll
Bej Kerman replied to Dr. Kerbal's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
The difference is the interpretation by the player if they see it. If a player who knows nothing about astronauts finds the memorial they are immediately aware it is an out of universe/lore reference (I can’t remember the correct term used to describe this), even if they don’t understand the reference itself. A subtle reference is something that a player who knows the reference will get, but the players who don’t will be unaware there was a reference shown to them at all. We just want a memorial for a very important person who died, I am completely incapable of seeing why lore is more important than this. Just why!? This isn't a debate on why some minor thing should be canon or non-canon, this is a memorial for someone unappreciated who passed away. Lore is insignificant here. "If a player who knows nothing about astronauts" If you're dedicated to KSP enough to know how to locate easter eggs, then not knowing much about astronauts is a tiny possibility that doesn't need to be considered. -
Michael Collins Memorial - KSP2 Poll

And? I don’t like that either. I don’t like 4th wall breaking references in games unless they are a comedy game. A guy died and we want a memorial for this important person in a very popular and relevant game, but I suppose whatever lore KSP has would be more important ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -
While that would be nice, it's almost certainly not going to happen until the game is in a better state. Although, it would be nice to know what state the game is in. I would rather honesty and a polished or broken game than discovering in 1-2 years time that most of the work done on the terrain gen and spaceflight was hand crafted and faked.

Let's see some proper unedited gameplay so we know for sure Nate Simpson isn't Sean Murray 2.0.

That's probably for the best.

Bug reports cannot be used if they don't describe anything and aren't sent to the bug tracker.

Parts of spacecraft do not magically pop out of existence. If a spacecraft with, say, an abundance of Type 1 fuel tanks and Type 3 engines splashes down in an ocean, the game should save the density of debris around the planet (like a heatmap) and have different heatmaps for different parts. You could send a salvage team to find discarded parts, bringing in tourism revenue for the early game and allowing you to reuse some parts from a failed rocket. A bit much to ask for something this minor, but something to think about - I'm not a big fan of magically disappearing rockets.

That would be a great QoL improvement. Having craft organized by type and series, so instead of having ten craft for slight variations on my Heron-class SSTO, I can have a folder for all of these. Honestly that would be awesome. I'm stepping into KSP 2 territory, but KSP should use a system where several craft (e.g. different payloads with a launch system with minor variations) can be bundled into one with several tabs - to save space, the game can find a common set of root parts and append changes when loading different tabs. It's better than having a lot of craft files for the same thing.

Suggested Feature: KSP1 Files able to be played on KSP2

Pratchett/Baxter's "The Long Earth" comes to mind. End up spawning inside a mountain. ELI5 -
Three minutes of a couple models, a minute for some Kerbals and engines. Not a lot if you ask me.

This is not a black and white subject, I don't think polls are a suitable way to gather answers. That being said, there should be some wind so that things feel dynamic, structures shifting and capsules not floating straight down.

Anyone else worried that KSP 2 will be bad?
Bej Kerman replied to Omni122's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
Absolutely, but what I have seen makes me think otherwise. I beg to differ. -

Every other year games are said to be "in the right hands" before spectacularly flopping. Do you see what I'm getting at? -

I'm so used to every other year releasing a hyped "oh the directors know what they're doing" game that ends up flopping badly, that I won't be surprised if KSP 2 also flops. Time will tell.
