Yeah I don't remember what specifically but there were some features we started using that are only in later versions of KSP. I don't believe the tracking dishes load at all for example.

Just downloaded the GitHub one and I can't find any parts, or anything named LRV? is the Golbat part of a joke I'm not getting?

Are you cloning the 1.11 repository, because that is where the lrv (and some other parts) live at this moment.

Beacon 1 is now on the 1.11 branch of the github! A small Explorer-1 derived payload, Beacon 1 was the only other satellite to launch on Juno I besides Explorer 1-5. Instead of having a geiger counter like Explorer 1, Beacon 1 had a small apogee kick motor and a inflatable balloon (that's 2.5m in ksp sizing) that was used to study atmospheric density in low Kerbin orbit (no it does not work like a proper balloon on the ground). Beacon 2 (Juno II, CCAFS)

Launched 15 August 1959, Beacon 2 was the second and the last attempt to put Beacon in orbit. It was launched on unique 3-staged Juno II (without its 1x Baby Sergeant fourth stage, making it Jupiter-C II).

Another unique feature on this flight were four flares inside guidance compartment. These were to be ejected during ascent, presumably during or shortly after GU separation. IRL things went south - at least one of these went off inside GU, depressurizing it.

What happened here: firework launchers were installed not perpendicular, but angled forward, and pushed GU back into first stage. Nothing some gentle wiggle can't fix (you probably shouldn't try this at NASA, though)

This isn't particularly substantive but, yes :)  I've been using CryoTanks w/o SH on the dev branch and have been using lots of LH2, with and without cooling, and I have noticed no differences from how it's been working for me all along.

I am happy to say my lander was able to to land on Io and Ganymede without refueling, and even tested another lander on Titan.

These rockets have an ascent profile that one would most often use in stock where the first stage sends the vehicle on a suborbital trajectory followed by a cost to apogee and the subsequent solid stages circularize the orbit by firing sequentially at apogee (or slightly before, the maneuver node for the circularization burn that you should have made will tell you exactly). BDB solids have a action to prematurely shut down the engine, so that you can more accurately choose an orbit.

It's easy.

1) Launch in classic guidance mode with "Skip circularization" active.

2) When 1st stage stops burning, coast to atmo border (90km in KSRSS 2.5x, for example).

3) Decouple the guidance unit, point it at the horizon (on navball. Or just set SAS in "point to prograde" mode) and coast to apogee.

4) Few seconds before apogee, fire 2nd and 3rd stages. Both burn for about 6 seconds on 100% thrust. You may want to lower thrust in VAB if you want more control.

5) If needed, fire 4th stage. It's rarely needed for 2.5x LEO missions, though.

See my Beacon 2 mission several posts above - it should give you a rough idea on how to fly early Junos.

EDIT:  I don't know what I'm doing wrong, installed everything correctly, but still KSP is acting up. I can't launch any craft, if I press the 'launch icon' it'll just revert back to the KSC view. 

Try the latest version. of the game, that should work perfectly fine, I don't think the bdb team has enough time to test every old ksp version to ensure compatibility so using the newest ksp version is always going to be the most bug and error free.

Honestly I’d consider just trying to launch it manually. I don’t recall about Juno 2 but on JNSQ, Juno 1 had more than enough fuel to put Beacon in orbit, it was even a little overkill. Usually I wait till close to apogee to fire the Sergeants. Mechjeb can be a little screwy with rockets like that.

Quick question regarding the LRV parts, is anyone else experiencing phantom forces while using them? I am using a more modded install with KJR and have all the joints locked with 200 dampening set. I have follow the build guide and am launching them with the lm shelter.
