[1.12.5] Bluedog Design Bureau - Stockalike Saturn, Apollo, and more! (v1.14.0 "металл" 30/Sep/2024)

After many setbacks and the lost of Debussy 4 we were finally able to send a probe to the Mun and return with a surface sample.

Taken the day before launch, Debussy 5 was rolled out on a Titan III.

After a couple of hours Debussy 5 touched down barely missing rocks and went to dig up or in this case break a Mun Rock. This is a modified Debussy lander with a heatshield, more tanks and a Vanguard engine.

While we have successfully brought home a Munar sample before the Koviets, a Minmus sample might be feasible but we're still on the fence since Debussy 5 barely had enough Detla V to take off from the Mun and return to Kerbin.

Something is borked with the bluedog_Juno1_Guidance - I cannot tell it precisely, but as soon as the part is attached the DV readouts and stuff are borked.
No NRE on occasion, just borkiness.
The staging icon does not appear for the built-in RCS because it also got a decoupler, I assume.

Expand

RCS doesn't get staging in stock, and I can't see anything wrong with DV readouts. So I'm going to say this is a problem on RO's side, not something we can fix.

Try zipping the log file, should make it much smaller, and then should be able to upload it to github.

I love this mod; thank you guys for putting in the time.  I thought I'd report an issue that impacts gameplay, followed by one which is annoying, but can be worked around.

1) The KH/Corona 1 heatshield is immediately jettisoned if I load into the vehicle while it is in flight.  (There might also be a requirement that the ship be suborbital.) Immediately upon jumping into the ship, I hear the deployment sound and the heatshield is gone.  I launched three KH1s in one session, and noted the same behavior on all three.

Here's an excerpt from the log on the third one:

  Reveal hidden contents

2) The other issue is something that has always happened for me over many BDB versions.  Sub-satellites loop their engine-start (or perhaps decoupler) sound effects from the moment they load on the launchpad until... forever.  I can't remember if actually deploying them makes it stop or not.  I pretty much just stopped using sub-sats entirely.  Not that I've used them all, but notably the Apollo, the Skylab/Venus flyby (four at a time is pretty annoying) and today the P-11 have had the issue.  I've never reported it since I've never seen anything in the logs related to them to help with troubleshooting it.

If you can zip and upload your whole log file and post it here I can look into it. It seems like it'll be some mod interaction issue though as I'm not seeing it happen on my end.

Pretty sure the 2nd issue will be from the solid rocket waterfall effects mod though, if you have that installed.

M5gR5vt.jpg

There is no "Borkieness" with the Solid Rocket Waterfall Effects what so ever!   Shut Yer Mouth! :D

All Joking aside, yes there are a lot of issues caused by Solid Rocket Waterfall effects...  The actual engine plumes are pretty good.   And before anyone asks, this was me testing the Saturn S-IVC (the real one not the ETS one)  with a Saturn C-2 launch (attempting an All C-1 / C-2 to the moon and back mission 2.5x KSRSS   I was playing with TUFX (still need to read how to SAVE what I played with because even though it is green blooming...

I kinda like it as a "PAL" ish TV type on an American ATSC/NTSC TV (due to the crazy interpolation between no TINT adjustment (PAL) to a Red/Green Tint Adjustment (US ATSC)

anyone in the United States on an ATSC watching "real" football (Soccer) actually knows what I mean... EVEYTHING is "WAY TOO MUCH" green.

So if it wasn't Clear...

  • YES that is the S-IVC with it's forward and aft Docking ports (the real world NASA on not the Alt History ETS one)
  • YES the Solid Rocket Waterfall mod has issues (but they still look good)
  • YES I was joking when I said Shut Yer Mouth
  • YES I like playing in TUFX
  • and YES I kinda know a bit about TVs... Anyone want a signed TV construction diagram on a Napkin?

So, I've decided I'm going to launch every probe offered in BDB, going down the list on Friznit's wiki guide. I plan to do each probe family at least once a week, but it might stretch to one family every two weeks. First up, Explorer Family.

Note: Same rocket launches are not shown. I.e. Juno 2 launches are only shown once during Explorer 7's launch. Later Explorer launches do not showcase the launch.

If you have WinRAR, right click the file, "Add to archive", and select ZIP as the archive format, then press OK.

On 7zip, right click the file, go to 7zip > Add to "[FILENAME].zip".

I generally only use SRBs on the first and retro stages and the occasional lift off from another body, so you're not alone.

I was searching and I haven't been able to find a fix/solution or maybe I am missing a required mod i am not sure. When I use parachutes. Like the Titan SRB Cone chute my crafts are over the dimensions allowed in the VAB. I apologize for coming here to ask this. If someone knows a fix or work around I would really appreciate it though. Love the mod and would like to be able to use parts through career with the starting launch facilities.

I was also having problems with the S-IVB/C Sized SNAP powered radiator...  (also it is kinda offcenter by default placement.)   Figured it was just borkiness of my setup given all the other issues I have had.   So *SHRUG*?

Yeah it’s a known issue, however it’s unfortunately unlikely to be fixed at this stage. The cause is not obvious, iirc cobalt has already looked into it with no luck. Best I can do is suggest maybe using Realchute radial chutes instead.

The Kerbal States one upped the Koviets by sending the first probe to another planet unfortunately due to budget restrictions we could not afford the powerful antenna and had to wait for the probe to get close to Kerbin to get science.

Hey yall! Im pretty new hear but I have been playing ksp for a while, especially with BDB. I was wondering if anyone knows a way that I could  contact Friznit, the creator of a Tantares and BDB wikis. I want to ask him some questions regarding how he made the pages and art used inside. I want to expand on that wiki for myself, correcting some names of parts ect. Could anyone help me out, or at least point me in the right direction?

Probably the easiest way to contact @Friznit is to post on the forum in the relevant thread...yay!

Best way to point out any issues / corrections / omissions is create a new issue on github and I'll make the relevant updates.  Feedback is always welcome.

For info, pics are taken with KVV and touched up in Paint.net
