@linuxgurugamerIve actually been also working on my own branch of AP+, more focused on adding new parts (primarily cockpits and control surfaces) if you got room for a 3rd person in the joint work on the mod.

Welcome aboard.  I assume some of those are yours, looks nice.

I'll think about how to organize this over the weekend.  So far all I have is a repo with three branches from three other forks on Github, I'm working on merging them all together (this includes @Skalou's fork)

We've got two people working on this branch (AP++, known internally as AP+++!@#$%^&*()), Drag0n (who you replied to) and Eclipse, I might join in and help after this Runway Project season is over.

RL always takes precedence.  Will you be monitoring the forum?

Not that I've been "monitoring" before, but I can't keep my back turned for a really long time. I'm so glad it's possible. I know this is Airplane Plus post but I hope it's possible to save Grounded, too.

Edit: I was very much a starter when I made the parts, I'm sure you people could do better. Seeing as some people made additional parts. My models had lots of mistakes I recognized as I went by, I still remember.

I'll be happy to add Grounded into the project.  After quick scan of the thread, doesn't look like much needs to be done to it, just one patch that seems to be needed from @Angel-125

Is there a github for Grounded?

Only real problem I see is that the license for Grounded is CC-BY-NC-ND, which means I can't distribute it.

What patch is that?

I unfortunately made no github for it as I'm new to github and was pretty much figuring it out in APP.

I'm pretty sure I just clicked stuff on the license and slapped it in there for the licensing requirement. I changed it to same as APP now if APP one's allow you, I thought it'd be an easy change.

Yup, that works.  I'll make a github repo for it.

If you could add me as a co-author for both AP+ and G on Spacedock, that would make it easier to provide updates

I have a personal github with the AP+ historic fully commited, including even release tags:

https://github.com/net-lisias-kspu/AirplanePlus/

You can fork it and start from there!

— — POST EDIT — —

As a matter of fact, you already have a github! It's better to make a pull request so and merge it into yours.

Ouch! You was talking about Ground!!! :P

I have this another repo, for historical purposes (as the ND allows distribution on any medium or format, but forbids derivatives) here:

https://github.com/net-lisias-ksph/GroundedModularVehicles

blackheart612 kindly changed the license! :)

Thank you.

My github is brand new, nothing to save at this time, so I may just fork your version

Check the other link about grounded, it's the same (but on a read-only hierarchy).

I would advise to @blackheart612do the fork, then commit the change of license, then you fork from him.

My fork repo is still the CC-BY-NC-ND, and only @blackheart612has the power to change the license. By he doing this step, there're historical and legal evidence that the license was properly changed on the repository itself. [belay that - just noticed that blackheart612 has changed the license on his thread, I'm committing the changes myself! :) ]

[can't call that a fork!] — now I can!! :)

@LisiasIf you've done this already, do you want to maintain them moving forward?

Humm… This is something that I didn't considered at the time I created that repos (on AP+, I was planning to fix some things and play with them and if satisfied, to apply a pull request, as I did on SXT once - and on Ground I just wanted to preserve the thing on a developer friendly way), but if everybody else is OK, after thinking a bit about it, I'm willing to maintain them.

Legally, I don't think the NC will be a problem, because I'm not (and never will be) a professional graphical designer or modeller (the NC stunt is a bit too embracing due a detail on USA's doctrine). And I have some "soft skills" that I got while maintaining KAX (and coping with Firespitter, a hard dependency on KAX as well on AP+) that surely will help on AP+.

Spoiler

And I love aviation as hell! :D

TL;DR, tried to get a Pilot license as young, but a serious economical crisis at that time ditched the plan. So I know about how planes should behave. Hint: the AP+ engines are terribly overpowered!!! :P

So, and assuming @blackheart612 ,  @Concodroid, @Drag0nD3str0yerand Eclipse are comfortable with the idea (I wouldn't be of much help if I had to do everything alone), how we would proceed?

I see a few ways:

  • I could set up a new organization on Github to house the two repos and grant access to the participants
  • I could just manage this using my own account
  • You could manage it on your account
  • or some other suggestion

I'm perfectly willing to curate the whole thing, I just don't want people thinking I'm swooping in to take credit for this.  As curator, I'd control the merges and do the releases.

We could set up a new Discord for discussion, although I personally haven't found Discord to be that useful, or I could set up a private channel on Discord in my Discord server

I have a well-established release process, so doing the releases will be pretty easy for me

@Lisias@Concodroid @Drag0nD3str0yer your comments?

@linuxgurugamer Me, along with @Concodroid and the others that have been working with me have been using discord thus far, and a separate repo that I made, but I'm alright with any way that works for everyone else.

I dont really know why I made a fully seperate repo and didnt just fork AirplanePlus, but this is it rn if you wanna look at it (most updates are in the dev branch) https://github.com/Drag0nD3str0yer/AirplanePlusPlus

We should all use Munway Project, which is the discord dev server for BdArmory for Runway Project. Great place, great people, and our AP+ development is already happening there. Also, dragon, eclipse and I will likely be focusing on adding parts for runway project (obviously parts that work generally too), so it all works out there. Besides, we have input there from the Old Guard of not only runway project, but BdArmory and ksp as well.

That's fine, can you get me an invite there?

I have problems on being available for chats due demands from day job. For me, the best way for communication on projects is the old and faithful Issue Tracker on GitHub (and now the Discussions).

Let me do the merge of everything into my repo, setup up the copyrights and notices accordingly, and then we reevaluate.

My repo have a huge advantage of having every release already commited in a nice git history - I can't tell how this can be useful while locating bugs and mishaps that suddenly are discovered but no one knows since then. :)

Once we have a consolidated common base, and get something publishable, we reevaluate.

@Lisias Im good with relying on issue tracker and discussions on the github for primary communication, though i feel having a dedicated chat place for at least some side discussion can be useful. I will be continuing to use the discord @Concodroid mentioned for most of my discussion regarding work in progress stuff and ideas for what to work on next in terms of new parts, though I like the idea of getting the repository stuff figured out before we move to conversations about fixing old parts and adding new parts.

Once we add enough parts, I'm happy to make some blender cinematic as a trailer for AP+.

(You could say I have some... experience with ksp blender animations lol)

I would recommend we try and add one new full aircraft - like creating the parts for an a320neo, for example - that'll also work well generally. Maybe a new form factor.

Since I'm not (yet) on that Discord server, I'll continue to post here.

Seems that you three have it mostly under control.  I'll step back since I can't really contribute much, other than a standardized release packaging, if desired.

I'm available if needed for anything, also if you decide to need any modules coded, feel free to contact me
