Can I use the new version in 1.7 (or is there something I can do to it to do so)? I'm still waiting on some of my other mods to update (namely Kopernicus).

I seem to recall that there was some manner of breaking change with this update that precludes use in earlier game versions. Unity 2019 did this to a lot of mods

I do, too, I was just hoping there was some way to use the new parts and models while I was still stuck in 1.7

Very cool update !!!! Thanks a lot !

May I dare a suggestion for the next update ?
Adding a top node (and shrouds?) on round tanks and parachutes.
It'd be awesome especially with the rexperiment returnpart (that part blew my mind... how did we live without that ?!).

I don't think shrouds will happen but I would accept a PR for top nodes for the tanks.

You can use the old dll but some things will be broken, like compound parts, the ISRUs and potentially a few other things.

Awesome work now only thing left is the Saturn parts

Actually probably coming, I have to redo some NFLV parts and we'll piggyback off that.

Congrats all. I can attest to the hard work these folks are putting in.

@cineboxandrew's dad.

Aw, thanks.

Another amazing update. Though, it looks like module manager isn't included with new release. Was this intentional?

Nope, will look into that.

Well now that Restock is updated, I'm gonna have to switch to 1.8.1.

One thing I noticed from the list of bugfixes & tweaks:   " Tweaked Nerv plume to be prettier "

I'm really curious to see how the existing Restock NERV plume can get prettier - it was already so much better than the stock one, it was a good enough reason to use Restock even without the other improvements.  :D

I think it was impinging on the outside of the bell a bit, so I tuned that. It's been quite a while since that fix though.

KSP 1.8.x

Restock [1.0.0]

Release Album

It's no secret that some of KSP's artwork is not great. Placeholder art made by a number of amateur artists throughout the game's development has resulted in a scattered mess of styles and qualities which is most evident in the part artwork. Recently Squad seems to be attempting to do something to attempt to address it, but they're taking the art in a direction we stylistically disagree with and does not solve the inconsistency issues that plague the game. Because of this number of community members have come together to try to create a project that revamps KSP's art. This project has the following goals:

  • Create a unity of design and style for all parts: In order to minimize work we'll be targeting the revised aircraft parts, which are the largest consistent block of parts.
  • Preserve the general aesthetic of KSP: We will do our best to keep the stylings of the more iconic parts while updating quality and fidelity.
  • Create consistency in detail level: no more 4k textures for tiny parts!
  • Minimize performance impact: use atlasing and efficient texturing to limit the need for any kind of better hardware than base KSP.
  • Do not affect gameplay or part balance

Features

  • About 250 revamped parts (so far!) focusing on the ones that are used most in construction
  • New part variants where they made sense
    • Boattail, compact and regular variants for engines
    • Orange insulated 3.75m tanks!
    • Gold foil-wrapped probe cores
  • New engine effects for all engines

Check out the part replacement list for it is LARGE.

Asset Blacklisting

Restock uses a novel method to stop KSP from loading stock assets - a blacklist file. This reduces the memory footprint of installing this mod by unloading models and textures that are not required. However, this method may break mods that depend on the stock assets. There is an easy way around this as we provide a method to whitelist files. Check the entry on the Restock Wiki for more information about this.

Known Issues

Please check the issues list for more information on known issues. Some mods are currently not compatible, here's the ones we know about and some fixes.

  • RemoteTech: Some parts will need to be whitelisted, no ETA

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will this break my existing stock craft if I add/remove it?
A: It will not.

Q: Did you change aerodynamics/colliders/drag cubes?
A: We minimized the impact as much as possible. Let us know if you have a concern.

Q: Something broke! My mod that uses the stock assets isn't loading!
A: Look at the Asset Blacklisting section above

Q: Will you redo the IVAs?
A: Nope.

Q: Will you redo more parts?
A: Yes.

Q: I found a bug, what do I do?
A: Stay calm. Ask here if anyone else sees it. If not, post on our Issues board with
screenshots/logs/reproduction steps.

KSP 1.8.x

Restock+ [1.0.0]
Last Updated November 5th, 2019

We believe that there are a number of places where KSP is missing key parts - for example, the 3.75m, 1.875m and 0.625m size classes are a little sparse. Restock+ aims to create parts that fill these niche, and is a carefully curated, fully optional project (that requires Restock to be installed of course).

Some of these parts overlap in purpose if the Making History expansion is installed and will not show up if this is the case.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How did you choose what parts to add?
A: Typically these parts are missing from size classes. 3.75m and 1.875m parts for example lack basic
conveniences such as orbital engines, drone cores and batteries.

Q: Will you add xxxx?
A: Probably not.

Q: What's going on with the Making History-like parts
A: If you own Making History, the Restock+ parts that overlap with the MH parts
(fuel tanks, etc), will not be added. Instead, those parts will have their art replaced.

Q: I found a bug, what do I do?
A: Stay calm. Ask here if anyone else sees it. If not, post on our Issues board with
screenshots/logs/reproduction steps.

Nice mod! I would like to see a 2.5 meter Rapier engine & a radially attached air intake.

I noticed something in 1.8.1 then went back to 1.7.3 and it was there too - the bottom node of the Mk 1-3 pod is inside the pod.  My normal craft using the Mk1-3 pod accidentally hid this with a 2.5m probe core, so it wasn't noticed but in 1.8, I haven't installed the mod that probe core came from, so I was doing something different. Anyway, is anyone else encountering this:

Yes, this is part of how we solved the heatshield fairing problem.

Basically Squad set up the heatshields in such an idiotic way that it still gives me nightmares. The top node of the 2.5m heatshield is inset far into the actual heatshield, which makes things bad looking when the shield is used on other 2.5m parts. This is hidden in stock by the heat heatshield 'lip' and the gigantic, protruding fairing thing that everyone wishes didn't exist.

To solve this problem with the fairing (ie, it looking unusably bad), you have to get rid of the lip, so you have to get rid of the offset. This requires a (fully backwards compatible) change to the location of the pod and heatshield nodes to make them consistent with every other part in the game, then some clever work with meshes to make everything work.

The only issue is, as you've discovered, when you build new craft and attach a part to the 2.5m capsule that has a smaller-than-2.5m diameter, you need to use the offset tool a bit. We think it's the best compromise, but there is certainly a discord conversation where I express this process with less forum-safe words.

Just a little heads up for ReStock and RealPlume users, a change in the way ReStock handles its MM patches means that there might be some issues with non realplume fx playing even when the engine is running. The fix to adapt RealPlume-stock is quite simple and will be coming hopefully tomorrow with support for newly added parts.

I wish to understand the differences between Restock and its Plus variant. Das the latter adds parts to the first one?

Right -- Restock Plus is *New Stuff* where ReStock is primarily a visual overhaul of stock game bits.

Thanks for your quick reply.  Obviously your system works well if it took me several versions to even notice!!  The 2.5m probe core I usually use (from Deep Space Exploration Vessels) fits so perfectly to your Mk1-3 it was never noticed, compared to the stock Mk 1-3 pod that I had to offset the same probe core up to make it cover that eyesore on the bottom.
