You get the games as a self contained offline installer. Nuke
to be fair the steam deck was pretty impressive. i just wish they wouldn't remove the linux header files and make it impossible to build native linux games and source ports on the deck. that was likely also intentional. i can run my emulation stack just fine so figure that. app stores are just parasites that dont even filter out malware correctly. And it used to be done in-house before release. Some genius decided that beta testing would be much cheaper if they didn't have to employ testers to do the job, and get players to actually pay to beta-test. I have to hand it to him. He made a lot of money by exploiting gamers like you and me. How's that early access working out for you?
ColdJ
@boriz I never do early access on anything. I like to wait till others have found all the problems and worked out how to fix them.
DDE
Cone of shame for the eldest cat. Hopefully this is just a cut on the "wrist" (left front paw, just above the "thumb") that wasn't healling properly and got licked too much. We've recently nipped a case of sarcoma on him in the bud. 15, M, kitchen-sink breed with clear British ancestry.
AlamoVampire
Im livid. On June 23 2024 I called the HVAC company I have a service contract to make a service appointment for July 5 2024. I got the automated confirmation email stating my window and appointment were confirmed. Roll forward to yesterday day of. 0730 30 min prior to window open and nothing. 0800, 0900, 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300 nothing. I start wondering whats going on but my window still had 2 hours so I wait. 1400, 1430 still nothing. At 1455 with 5 minutes left I call the HVAC company. I find out my appointment vanished. I get rescheduled as a PRIORITY CALL but the window 0700-1900. I express my opinion that Id prefer as priority to be call 1 today. 0630 this morning Im up waiting. Nothing. Flash forward to 1715 and I call wanting to know whats up. Im next but im being treated by the rep as anything but a priority. Im being inconvenienced for something NOT MY FAULT. Clearly the universe hates me. Wants me to suffer. 182507062024
DDE
My mom got a sixth call insisting she's up for an annual fluoroscopy. Of course, that's not the local hospital, that's just someone wanting to extract a 2FA code out of her to run riot with her land deeds and bank accounts. Two things make it notable, however. One, it's the same voice that, last year, was 'an FSB colonel'. Two, I rather doubt Russian medical authorities would be calling from a +32 number (Belgium). Nuke
medical stuff. when did it get so bloody inefficient. you have to schedule 3 appointments to do what normally would be handled on your annual physical. a job that was once handled by one doctor and one paper monkey now requires 2 assistants, a receptionist, 2 lab techs, and 3 hospitals full of bureaucrats. rebel-1
And I was finally scheduled for prosthetics surgery, to go to another region. And a huge number of tests and medical examinations with a shelf life of 10 days. I can't imagine how I'll have time to hand them all over before the trip. And today I have an appointment with a doctor, and the only free appointment window was at 9 a.m. Although I usually wake up at 11. Now I'm sitting, tearing my eyes after 3 hours of sleep, drinking tea. And I have to work later.
Nuke
i like how my doctor asked me if i wanted vaccines and then didn't issue them. seemed like my first appointment (pre covid), she had to practically twist my arm behind my back to convince me to take a flu shot. ive had the flu twice in my life and both times it was very mild. now its like "ok your done", 'but you forgot my....' "next!". i think health care (even free clinics) were better before the "affordable" care act. somehow dental remains unchanged. i got to get up at like 8 on friday for bloodwork, after fasting for 12 hours. function? without caffine? how? It's wild. Several years ago my Mom basically had to have me wait outside while she chewed out my regular physician in order to get a referral for an MRI. Now, last year I went to a specialist for an ingrown toe nail. It was removed and they basically said there's nothing I can do to prevent it. It returned a year later, and was I talking to my trainer at the gym and she tells me about this tape you can put in the crease of the nail so it doesn't get worse. Alarm bells! I go in a second time to have it removed (it was too late to cut it. Mine run deep) and now this different doctor (same provider though) is telling me to go to a nail salon every few months to have it clipped. Putting cotton under it can also help if it starts to poke. I heard none of these suggestions from the first guy, and wound up paying like $500 to have it removed the second time. Another notable thing is it seems the first guy took off way more of the nail than was necessary. The second person just needed to take off a thin sliver and I felt better. BA-Forums
Painting NATO camouflage on tanks is SO ANNOYING! I feel like I need to follow my reference images so it’s accurate but I also need to get a bit of variation, but when i vary the pattern scheme slightly, it doesn’t look right… Edited July 12 by BA-Forums Grammar
Ryaja
One of the major candidates in my country(trying to stay unpolitical while talking here) had an assassin try and kill him. Tough times were in. Hopefully this doesn't escalate.

I hate that things have deteriorated into such a state.. that I picture scenarios where some whackadoo is conditioning people with the purpose of escalation. As unlikely as that seems... I honestly think it possible. Let's take a few more liberties & justify eavesdropping. Even if its not some false flag That's a generally negative situation either way. Depends on who is behind it... assuming the drive was to justify an amendment to bear arms. That is a generally agreed first step to totalitarian behaviors. Fear is the first step. I am not saying it IS an orchestrated attempt, but to view simply say "NO ONE WOULD EVER DO THAT!" Im actually worried for the first time amd feel my showing up to local town hall and council meetings no longer even matters. I wonder how many across the world feel that? That's what truly sucks. Being angry and afraid while they capitalize on the sensation. Edited July 15 by Fizzlebop Smith

I find the more whackier version even more likely. Kirill Budanov did a very strangely-timed interview about attempted assassinations. I don't think he meant the president he was naming. Unfortunately the interview is paywalled, is on a website that IP-blocks me, and seems to defy translation, so you'll have to just enjoy the visage of Momma's Pie, the lord of swindlers and the bane of savings of Russian grannies. I understand. Based on what is currently released it seems like this guy has issues and did this himself. A few things, 1 you don't go for the head in an orchestrated attack to get support for yourself, 2 especially not with a semi auto(bolt actions are more accurate and typically have higher bullet velocity) 3 yes both side will try and use this to their advantage, though the side this was done agianst will have a large advantage.
