No, the problem is that I keep stating that it isn't you guys, but you continue to either not see that or choose to ignore it.  How many times do I have to say it before you see it?  At what point are you going to stop accusing me of saying it is your fault?

I'm starting to take it personally.  Like, what about my repeatedly saying it isn't you that is getting lost in translation?  I mean, if you don't want me here, just say so.

It doesn't matter who it's aimed at, the only ones here to catch the brunt of it is the moderators.

If you're taking it personally, how do you think they feel? They can only take so much negativity before THEY start taking it personally. So please ease off. All we have left is volunteers.

On my mother tongue, there's a saying that can be translated more or less to

"Scared people do crappy things. Really scared people do really crappy things..."

And, boy, this outage really scared a lot of people.

I want to suggest to everybody around here to cool down, count our blessings, and appreciate the time we still left around here - that can be way more than we fear, by the way. Someone fixed Forum, after all.

But if the end is really near, I would prefer to gather yet more fond memories instead of the sad ones. And I'm pretty sure it's what most (all?) of us would prefer too.

Where? Couldn't have been on the forum during the outage, wasn't on reddit until Vanamonde replied to that reddit post Bej mentions.

Are you quoting the "support person" with that? That's why I think such a bit is important. "The support person didn't/can't tell us what went wrong" is very different to "we had no contact with the support person and things got fixed". They describe very different dynamics. Are you the moderators being left in the dark by the support person and their superiors? That's important, and so I expressed it.

And that's what I believe should've been part of the announcement. "They refused to tell us", "They forgot to tell us", "They can't tell us", or "We don't care, didn't ask".

Ah, Discord. That discord. Yikes. But hey, that definitely is my own fault for not being there. Just for the sake of argument, the subreddit has 1.5+ million members. That's where stuff about the game should go, not on a discord with only 40000 people.

Some of you feel the communication about this outage was/is bad. The thing you are failing to understand is that the communication is neither good nor bad; it is over. The community managers were your liaison with the game. They have been laid off. The company making the game has been laid off. There is no one to communicate with. We forum moderators are not responsible for communicating anything through Twitter, Discord, or Reddit, because we are forum moderators and do not have access to the KSP accounts elsewhere. Do not expect to receive game/forum news from us there. You will be disappointed. And even here on this forum, we have none to share. The forum was down, we informed our contact, and it eventually got fixed. That is, sincerely, all we know. There is no more to share. This is the current state of communication. Do not expect it to change.

Seems I am a day or more late.

Glad to see you guys again. I missed you.

Sad to see some misunderstandings causing tension.

This type of situation can make anyone touchy. Nobody who has posted here was in any way to blame, they did their best with what they had available at the time.

As there is already a Reddit "Kerbal Space Program" section set up, and Reddit groups can be found by search engines, maybe we should set up an emergency page so that if anything happens again, we have somewhere to see any messages from the Mods.

I know the Mods can't fix the problems themselves, but they may get to hear stuff that we can't, and so keep us in the loop.

What do you think?

FWIW, I did make a doom'n'gloom post on imgur (my other haunt) and got a reasonably prompt reply from Vanamonde, of the usual "they are aware and working on it" kind. Which I knew was all I could really expect. I must admit I was skeptical, considering how long it was down for.  But I'm glad it's back up. Now if they could only slay the Bad Gateway....

Of course, the big problem is "where do you post that the forums are down, if the forums are down?"

Important to understand that there's no "official" stuff left past the forum... which is clearly in nobody's interest to keep up properly, so I'll recommend the Subreddit. Sure, some people there might get grumpy about seeing the same stuff or questions posted over and over, but if you dare use the search function, you'll probably see none of that.

Considering it took a little outrage to clearly (and that's still not clear enough) communicate that they magically didn't hear back from their contact (what a contact!) about what the heck was wrong with the forum, there's clearly not much known past what a normal user can infer.

As it stands right now, given the mods can't communicate, they can't ask, and whatever info they have has to be pressed on for basic details as demonstrated, this place is as unofficial and abandoned as anything else.

As stated multiple times above, we did ask, we got info, and we relayed as much as we were given (For security and NDA reasons there were some technical details that were not released), but that doesn't change anything about the communication.  It didn't take any outrage, just a simple question to our contact, and the got it done as fast as they possibly could (No, seriously).   This doom and gloom and fear mongering doesn't do anybody any good.   As stated before, please take this false outrage elsewhere.

That parenthesis, that's what I believe should've been part of the first statement in this post: it's not that you don't know, It's not that the tech guy magically worked the issue and disappeared, but rather something happened and you can't reveal it or it can't be communicated to you. The "little outrage" was meant to point at what happened in this thread, not at the handling of the forum failure, I really have no comment of that because there's no way to gauge how it was handled, so I'm just hoping you all did your bests.

Shouldn't have taken 2 pages of asking to get that parenthesis (which you never closed by the way), that's my criticism.
