  1. "OK, MechJeb, nice reckless flying." "Learned from my programmer."
  2. Somehow, the spelling of "KASE" looks better than "CASE." I think that's the kerbal within me saying 'Add a K to every word to make it better.'
  3. What mods are you using to be able to see the planets from Kerbin like that?
  4. Going Off The Rails On A Crazy Train (Of Gravity Assists) Arriving at Jool was not easy. A simple retroburn would use thousands of dv that I couldn't spare, so a Tylo gravity assist was in order. I set one up, although I wasn't completely happy with it, and then spent the next several hours in the Jool system trying to get a perfect sequence that would allow me to retroburn at Laythe easily. Long story short, I failed, and I loaded an earlier quicksave before I was in the Jool SOI to set things right. While fiddling with the maneuver node, I came across a path that did exactly what I wanted it to do. Any slight difference in how I tweaked the node and I might never have discovered this. Assist from Tylo, assist from Laythe, small inclination change, then encounter Laythe again after just one orbit, and spend minimum fuel to get to Laythe orbit. Jeb is ready to conquer Laythe... Coming up next on Journey of the Avocado: Laythe Landing!
  5. I just meant that even when the higher-ups know, this kind of thing is still left as ambiguous as possible to the viewers to build tension. Good point. I simply overlooked that, sorry. Kerbin in the background, the Mun in the foreground, and a star on the surface representing the location of the anomaly. Also, the sans-serif gold lettering on dark grey reminds me of the names on CASE and TARS. The fact that it says "KASE" only further strengthens this connection.
  6. Floor 4442: A wormhole. As you observe it, you suddenly understand why it warps light like that. Before you can tell anyone, someone pushes you in and it turns out it leads to the next floor.
  7. Convair F2Y Sea Dart "Who needs an aircraft carrier to land on water? Oh wait, you do, ha!"
  8. @TwoCalories do you pick a new plane each time or stick with the same one?
  9. The cool guy with dual finger guns shoots the formation lights on the Super Hornet and has perfect aim because of his plot armor. @Deddly wins! Rock-paper-scissors-shoot, anything you want to do!
  10. For something meant to be top secret and mysterious, it was strangely straightforward about the existence of the anomaly, but it was very intriguing to see an aspect of the space program never before seen, and I enjoyed it. I wonder what'll happen to whoever explores the anomaly in person...
  11. I docked the Service Module with the Chemical Propulsion Module for CERES (Comprehensive Extended-Duration Research and Exploration Station). The SM has large fold-out solar arrays and monoprop storage. Next will be the Centrifuge Module. I decided to add the stripes back to the 2.5m docking ports on the CM to serve as a little warning to unwary kerbals climbing around on EVA that "Hey, this thing is spinning fast!"
  12. Let's Hit The Road Orbit Lines Like most nuclear-powered craft, the Avocado will split its burns into two. One reaching Minmus, the other actually getting to Jool. Along the way, it'll detach its first drop tanks. The Jool 5 challenge says that the craft can't split into pieces from the moment it leaves Kerbin until it arrives at Jool, but the tanks will be detached while it's still in Kerbin's SOI, so I think it's fine. Even at max time warp it takes so long to make a single year pass. Now for the several-year journey to Jool, with no more space for each crew member than one would have in an Apollo capsule. I'm sure kerbals have different psychology to be able to handle that, but if not, too bad. The Avocado is ready to arrive in orbit around Jool! Coming up next on Journey of the Avocado: Heading to Laythe!
  13. Here's a (technically) kerbal self-portrait. This was fun to draw with perspective and everything. It looks a little washed out because of the app I used to scan it. You can see my Kimera Industries shortened logo on his chest, and the shape on the helmet is a stylized falcon diving downward, like what a peregrine falcon does. The planes are Kopper squadron, hence the "K" before the numerical designation on the tailfin.
  14. "The Nautilus-X was never built because it would cause too much lag."
  15. Saying a word in quotation marks is cheating.
  16. When you look at a children's book about space and know everything wrong with it. I mean everything.
