  1. That was on purpose. If you look closely at the explosion shot, you can see the plume of an LV-45, it's actually very hard to get things to explode on purpose, and engine heating is the simplest way. I never controlled both planes at once, they flew separately. Being designed to explode is also the reason the plane had an ejection system, I normally don't develop one. That, and I didn't want to have to control two kerbals all the way down to the surface. If you look at my Saturn V-C on liftoff, you can see a plume inside the center F-1 as well. And I never said I always land them successfully.
  2. I remember my early planes on my career save. I wasn't sure if I could land it, and I used a lot of parachutes to avoid breaking anything. Then I played on my other saves for a while, learned how to properly make KSP planes, came back, and made a perfect multi-use plane that works just fine. (PS: I can land planes now)
  3. Steak is explosive when dipped @AlamoVampire, I looked over the rules and it seems I did make it so the next user picks the starting word. My bad, I thought it was different. I'm not sure which way to go with now. Perhaps a poll could help settle this...?
  4. "Autostaging" and "Auto-execute maneuver" sound like things I have wished for many, many times. I love all the mods for KSP2 that are beautifully simple like this.
  5. But, you know, space politics and what-ifs aside, I drew a mission badge for CERES the other day. I don't have a picture of it and I could make a way better drawing anyway, so here's a picture of CERES instead: Comprehensive Extended-Duration Research and Exploration Station. It'll go to Dres and visit the easter egg, canyon, and my previous Dres mission. (That's technically a backronym, I came up with the acronym after choosing a name.)
  6. Sukhoi Su-35 "Imagine needing drop tanks to get any kind of range."
  7. I think you toggle their appearance but what do I know, I don't even have KSP2. One of the problems with map view in KSP1 is that you know how everything looks at the very beginning of the game. One of the first things I ever did was go to the tracking station and look at every single planet and moon. And it meant there was nothing new when I visited those places. They looked exactly like they did in map view. I agree that they should appear as maybe indistinct blobs at first, in the case of some planets with vague dark and light patches like early telescope photos. And if you send a ship there, you can straight up see what it looks like, but you have to do some sort of imaging action to add an area to the map view.
  8. There were a lot of crazy STS escape pod ideas out there. If any had ever been developed and used, it would probably have been a modified Apollo capsule for 8 crew. Just the kind of thing that could have saved the crew of Columbia and also another safety feature removed for cost reasons.
  9. Well, dang- you just summed up why I made Wrong Red Moon. My dad has always liked how their spacecraft shapes are unique like that, and that carried over to me as well. I feel like stories of the space race shame the USSR for not getting a man on the moon, but they deserve the opposite- literally the first ever man in space! And a whole lot more! That's something, especially for a space program considered more of a way to show off to other countries by its leaders.* *footnote:
  10. Don't get me started on how 'eh' rovers are in KSP1. It's like Lunar Roving Vehicle: On Ice!
  11. I'm now gonna hear No Time For Caution every time I dock. Never going back in a million years.
  12. Floor 4436: @TwoCalories reading his essay to a group of plane lovers. It's well received, except for one weird guy in the corner who would enjoy the speech but is too busy studying seaplanes. He keeps muttering about the Sea Dart.
  13. Floor 4434: A lone monitor on the floor. It displays a single line of text: IN TEN FLOORS WILL BE FOUR FOURS. HEY, THAT RHYMES.
  14. I must still be in shock. I expect this will all hit me hard sooner or later... Time to edit the OP again.
  15. Honestly, I think this should be stock. With the game at this early stage, it's a possibility!
  16. Floor 4432: A museum of every time @TwoCalories has mentioned the F/A-18.
  17. Moho and Ions go together like kerbals and explosions. Nice compact little lander. Perhaps it's a good thing this was never fully developed...
